About The Botany
A new arrival to Maryhill, The Botany is situated on the outskirts of the ever-expanding west end. One of the last remaining building of what was once a bustling high street and old tenement flats The Botany was born from its previous incarnation The Strathmore. Originally a working man’s pub dating back to 1877, the original brickwork still remains but is now accompanied by an enchanting glass house conservatory with an outside terrace. As you sit overlooking beautiful garden surroundings and parkland you will easily forget you are beside the bustle of Maryhill Road.
The name pays homage to a nearby sub-district of Maryhill, possibly so-called as the starting point for prisoners working on the Forth and Clyde canal as they made their journey to Botany Bay. Fear not though! The only journey you will be taking here is one of a mouthwatering culinary experience. The Botany’s name is also a nod to the nearby Botanical Gardens which helped to establish their vision of bringing a fresh, ingredient driven menu to Glasgow’s Maryhill food scene. That same philosophy is applied to their seasonal cocktail menus, extensive wine list, rotating bottle selection, quality gins and whisky.
The eclectic menu hosts a selection of small and large plates to appease every appetite. During the day you can tuck into fresh ciabatta sandwiches, a superfoods salad or the staff’s favourite; smoked chicken tacos. At night you can delve into their large plates section with choices like monkfish curry, pan fried pigeon breast or ribeye steak. There are brunch specials promoted every weekend from 11-3pm.
An excellent experience all round.
Fab wee hidden gem! Food brilliant. Service was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. Well worth a visit!
Food was adequate. I noted to our server the Side of Mac and cheese was not great. We did not eat it. Still charged full price for it. Would return but probably just for drinks
Lovely conservatory, fairy lights a nice touch Pleasant 15 minute walk from west end Great customer service Food portions slightly small
Friendly, helpful staff
I have driven past here heaps of times & quiet fancied giving it a go. It popped up on it is on & jumped at the chance to give it a whirl. The delightful smell of food hits you as soon as you walk in the door which made my stomach rumble, then your lead into the conservatory which was a right treat lovely setting with a roaring fire on a VERY wet & stormy night. Order taking promptly & taste bud tingling food delivered quickly, beautifully presented. It was a great hit. We felt a bit guilty for asking for pudding menu as it wasn’t offered which I was surprised at. Pride overcome asked for pudding menu & ordered ...... so glad I asked as I had the last piece cheesecake which was I hit with me co diner was not impressed I order last piece he had his 2nd choice of the sticky toffee pudding quoting “the best he’s had put in a long time”. The staff are great really friendly & when finished eating I asked to see the full menu as next time I won’t need to be tempted to revisit on an offer. We will be back sooner rather than later. Great review given to my coworkers today who can’t wait to try it now. Thanks for a great night.
Lovely pakoras to start, Haddock & chips were delicious. Service was friendly and efficient. Would definitively recommend
Lovely evening interesting mixture of modern and warm inviting decor. Food delish. Big party the night we were in so service a little slow but apologetic. I will come back to try other delicious things from the menu - my friend’s fish dish looked and tasted perfect.
Lovely to be seated at a Round Table and environment was warm & comfortable. Surprised to have no vegetables as standard with our Lamb Dish Portions of Risotto were thought to be on the small side. No Sea Bass available despite being on Menu The Green Lentil Thai curry was tasty but a bit dry Puddings were all delicious as was the Daiquiri cocktail
Our waitress Aria was wonderful.
Polite and efficient service Tasty and innovative menu Reasonable prices
I regularly frequent the Botany wether it be for lunch, an evening meal or a couple of pints. Always great service and a good atmosphere.

Very laid back atmosphere, spacious and very clean. Great food and friendly staff.
A lovely brunch, perfect eggs Benedict and delicious coffee
We were treated very well by the staff. We knew some of the staff from a previous restaurant which made us book. The food was really good, the menu choices were just enough to make selection interesting. We were celebrating an anniversary, and received a glass of bubbly, which was a nice touch. Excellent value for money as well. Congratulations to the owners for a good newish addition to Glasgow's go-to restaurants.
First time back since the refurb-was a favourite before but a well judged refit has helped enhance the experience
