About The Borough
Perfect for a late-night session, The Borough is here to keep you happy morning, noon, and night. The community-focused restaurant and bar is Tawa’s friendly neighbourhood local, with a warm atmosphere and welcoming vibes. Order up large with their sizeable selection of bar snacks, pizzas, traditional mains (such as Steak, fish & chips, and braised pork belly), and brunch dishes. There’s an option for any type of diner, leading late into the night with their generous open hours.
Absolutely fantastic place, with amazing food and staff
We had Mothers Day lunch with family here and it was busy. Staff did really well to accommodate everyone. Food was good. First time we had lunch here as we mostly have dinner here. Definitely recommend.
Thank you for serving our large family on Mothers day. It was perfect! Loved how warm it was outside the garden area and how it accommodated for our children. Hugely grateful for your team.
Food was ok - standard pub fare, but waitress delivered the starter with the main meal at the same time and when advised of this said sorry and walked away. The manager did apologise and took 10% off the bill. Hopefully he will remind his staff about the importance of listening accurately to customer requests and also help them develop skills for solving staff errors.
Food was amazing. The fish main was presented so beautifully and was so fresh and tasty. Service was flawless. Janak was very friendly with his service and attended to all our needs. Will definitely come back.
1st time and very disappointed at the Borough. Staff just didn't seem to care and we had to prompt everything. 30 minutes to get our drinks when arrived, had to collect myself as just sitting on the bar. My daughter had the make her own pizza, and after it sitting on the table for 10 minutes waiting to be collected, i had to drop it off to the kitchen! Meals arrived, no cutlery or napkins on table. Drink then empty and never offered a 2nd one when in 1.5 hours, I would usually have 2 or 3. But as mentioned, it all comes down to attitude and lack of care from staff. Food and atmosphere pretty good, but could be a lot better with someone running the show!
A pleasant meal.
Always a great time at The Borough - great food
It was too loud everywhere for the customers to have a chat is my only criticism other than that we had a good time overall. Loved the interiors, seating was comfortable and the tables did not rock, the food and drinks were yummy and portion sizes were just right. Loved the buzz but the ambient sound and the music was too loud and did not allow for conversation.
We booked a table for my sons 13th birthday - great place kids and adults alike, thanks!
Really enjoyed your food and service. Was very noisy though. Definitely will be back.
Two of us had the Gardeners Pie and we were both quite disappointed with it. We had thought it would be a tasty pastry pie. Our other two friends enjoyed their hamburger and steak
We had a lovely evening. Food was amazing and great service, thank you!
Friendly service and welcoming. Appreciate it was a busy day in there but a few easy simple things were missing like we were all left high and dry for about 15 minutes after sitting and had to ask for some water which appeared but with no glasses? Headine would be “welcoming just missing a little finesse”
Had an enjoyable evening. Great food snd service. Will definitely come back. Thank you,
This was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. The menu had fantastic variety, especially for the vegetarians amongst us, and there was something for everyone's taste. As a venue for a family celebration (40th Wedding Anniversary) it was perfect.
We thought the menu was very good, lots of good choices. the service was excellent. It was rather noisy, but gradually quietened down during the evening.
The steak was cooked well and the service was really great. What was a huge disappointment was the sticky date pudding which had chocolate sauce on it. I have no idea what the kitchen was thinking with this one. When we inquired about it they said that the kitchen had changed the menu without letting anyone know. If I had known I definitely would not have chosen that menu option. It was extremely cramped where we were seated and was very hard to manoeuvre into my bench seat with the table so close, at less than 30cm away. Overall not terrible, but a bit disappointing.
Matilda served us she was amazing. Give her a raise
What a joke of a booking service. Made a booking for 6 and it was in the bar at a leaner. Was not happy. Who makes a booking for dinner to be at a leaner. Made the booking days in advance too. Did not stay and won’t be coming back in a hurry. Which is a shame as we have been going there regularly.
My meal arrived and was incorrect with mushroom sauce instead of garlic butter. I returned it. The next meal arrived and was also incorrect with potatoes instead of fries. Fries arrived about 10 minutes later.
Great atmosphere, food was good, didn't have to wait long and staff were friendly. Natasha was very helpful and made sure we had extra tables due to the high numbers of our Quiz Night. Jon.
Pretty average place to eat - runs hot and cold depending on when you go. We last visited on a Sunday evening and it was decidedly average at best, but have been at other times - Friday evening for example, and it has been pretty good. Staff are always friendly and attentive - it’s the food that can be variable.
Family-friendly as always but service was occasionally patchy with empty plates ignored and no offer of another round of drinks or dessert. Food was average but has always been and we don't come for high cuisine but as a place the kids enjoy.
