Fantastic meal, meat and side orders were so tasty. Definitely be returning
Brilliant Sunday lunch for my son's birthday, we'll be back! Absolutely delicious.
We had to wait a while for our table, we waited for 45 mins before any food arrived and then it all arrived at once. We didn’t like the ordering system as We couldn’t ask about the dark kitchen menu and ended up with too much rice. They had also run out of two of the dishes we had ordered and paid for. We were offered a pudding as a substitute, but I would rather have had my money back. The service felt quite impersonal and we were very cold as the heaters were not strong enough.
Great atmosphere and concept to keep things social during the pandemic. But, ran out of mulled wine early on, on a cold night. & burgers off the menu due to power cut (unavoidable), that with slow service on drinks meant we left after one drink to get food elsewhere. Will be back to give it another go at some point.
Great food as always!
Very nice food, good service and outside is undercover and has heaters too. COVID rules were all adhere too.
Ordering the food and drink from the app didn't work particularly well it was far too complicated getting drinks from one and food from another, also the drink we wanted was on the menu and then not on the app and not available so that was a bit frustrating. Staff kept bringing service drinks and food to our table that wasn't for us so clearly there needs to be a little better organisation. We loved the food thou and that was delicious as always, good menu choices.
Friendly and fantastic service. It had been busy all days but staff were smiling and helpful.
Food was excellent and the service was great
Really enjoyed my meal. Great atmosphere
Great atmosphere. Good food. A great place to be able to meet outdoors with friends, due to current Government covid restrictions.
Lovely outdoor courtyard, great ambiance. However, nobody came to take our order. We had to find a waiter and then it took nearly an hour for the kedgeree to arrive and it was not busy! Maybe only order from the Burger Shop. The kitchen in The Bookshop is much too slow which doesn’t work if meeting friends for a quick lunch.
Great night out with friends food was delicious and staff really friendly it felt really safe thank you😊
It was really disappointing. The starters were ok. The two mains were very poor. The fish was overcooked and not very fresh. Fish should not smell of fish. The veggie option was imaginative but not well executed. One of the sides was completely inedible. On other occasions, it had been excellent. The short cuts that the kitchen are taking are really noticeable. Previous visits have been superb and memorable for the right reasons. This was memorable as an exercise in NOT how to survive the current crisis. Very sad to see a great restaurant fall so far
Lovely ambiance - friendly and very attentive waiting staff. The starters and sides were particularly impressive - the sirloin steaks were a little dry but overall a great dining experience.
Was so lovely to be able to meet up with friends - thank you for making it possible (and so safe!)
Excellent staff and excellent food
Such a lovely place to eat. Great food and atmosphere. Really appreciated to heaters and canopy.
Excellent service and food. We shared our work Christmas breakfast, on two tables and felt safe at all times. It was truly lovely to be able to do this, and whilst it was cold in the yard, the heaters and extra jumpers we all wore helped . As did the hot coffee
We have visited before and the food was incredible. It was our second time last night and we were quite disappointed. The meat was chewy, the cauliflower hard and too spicy and the sauce nothing like we had before.
Great meal. Waiter could be more attentive. Had to flag them down to remind them for brown sauce and for top ups on drinks - not proactive.
We sat outside as tier 2 and meeting with friends outside our household. There were heaters (thankfully) but these were timed and seemed to go off after a couple of minutes. If they could be timed for at least 20-30 minutes would be better as we were constantly having to get up to turn it back on.
Hi team. The roast was good but not worth £17. You need to improve the outside. Not enough heaters, uncomfortable chairs and the food is cold in minutes. Service was slow. Invest in proper freestanding heaters, maybe some faux fur covers for the chairs and nicer lighting. It isn’t festive at all and no atmosphere. Start with the heaters and chairs. If you are charging that much for a roast, for groups of 6 to be together, you really need to improve it. I wished I had’ve said something but the veg came out cold and the beef was chewy. I won’t be returning at that price.
The staff are great. Very helpful but the service is slow. We waited 50minutes for our food. We could tell that it was really busy but I would think twice about booking again and I would say to people who wish to book about the length of time waiting. The food tasted excellent. Perhaps you should space out your bookings more.
