About The Boathouse
The Boathouse is a family owned restaurant with a great reputation for the finest Scottish seafood on the West coast of Scotland, most of which is landed on our doorstep.
Our reputation has been built up over the last few years by the culinary delights of our Chefs. We have gained recognition from the Michelin Guide five years running and as new owners, we aim to build on that reputation. We have an outstanding menu and ‘Fresh Ins’ board to suit everyone, along with a lovely wine list to choose from. You won’t be disappointed.
We are situated on the shore of the stunning Ardminish Bay at the bottom of the Mull of Kintyre a popular stopping point for boats who are sailing up or down the Mull they can moor up on the newly refurbished moorings and jetty.

Excellent food and service as usual. Thank you!
First class all round. Will be back
Delicious seafood served by attentive, friendly staff. Can't wait to make a return visit!
Our first course arrived fairly quickly but it was nearly an hour later before we had our main course, It was a bitterly cold day and there was no heating inside the restaurant also the door was constantly being opened to serve outside tables. The food itself was delicious but because we were so cold by the time it arrived we were incapable of enjoying it properly.
We love this place, always excellent food, a couple of our favourites were off the menu but that did not detract from this excellent restaurant.
We enjoyed a fantastic lunch at The Boathouse. It was easy to reserve a table, the staff were very efficient in dealing with queries during the booking process and more than helpful in changing our reservation from inside to outside to allow us to take advantage of the unexpected good weather and fabulous views. The setting is amazing, service brilliant and the quality of the food outstanding. We would highly recommend The Boathouse to anyone visiting the area. Thank you to all the staff . A memorable lunch .
Was great! The food was spectacular, the setting outside was atmospheric, and the team were friendly and personable! Only bug bear was that service was slower but put that down to COVID restrictions and worried we we’re going to miss the last boat back but regardless I can’t wait to visit again!
We booked a table outside by the beach as we had our dog with us. There were quite a few dishes from the 'fresh ins' board off the menu as they'd been really busy the night before however there was still some really amazing sounding dishes. I went for the garlic prawns and then the monkfish curry, both were really good, so fresh and great flavours. Would highly recommend. Great setting, great service and amazing food.
There are no doubts, The Boathouse is a quality restaurant. Fresh ingredients, well prepared with plenty of choice. And in a location that is just sublime. The ferry ride is twenty mins, I can see myself popping over for a spot on lunch quite often whilst on Kintyre.
Brilliant service and food was beautiful! Thank you guys
Amazing lunch, table right on the beach in the sunshine. Food was excellent, large portions of fresh fish and a varied menu if that's not your thing. Would thoroughly recommend.
Enjoyed our visit a lot and will be back. Good service from polite staff although food delivery was slow. But lovely scenery to enjoy meanwhile. In these difficult times, thought did very well. Keeping all dishes hot to the outside table obviously not easy. Hotter plates?
Our visit to The Boathouse on Wednesday was wonderful. The food was fabulous, the staff are excellent and the view cannot be beaten. I would highly recommend the trip to Gigha and the Boathouse to anyone visiting this part of Scotland.
The Boathouse is delightfully unique - fresh local food, prepared and served with love and respect in one of the world's beautiful spaces
Enjoyed a great meal here , despite it being a bit cool sitting outside under cover . Very personable staff made us feel welcome. Delicious tempura prawns, halibut and brownie pud . Would definitely book again if up this way . Do hope the Boathouse manages to survive the Covid storm ....they certainly deserve to flourish.
We had a lovely meal, excellent food : lobster and Mac followed by halibut. Local island G&T and nice wine. Despite Covid it was all well done and safe and we really enjoyed our night - the owner was very friendly and helpful and dogs welcome
Slow service, no heating indoors, cullen skink soup was very salty and lacked the key incredient "fish". Was essentially the same as the leak and potato soup with a few bits of fish. No cream present. The seafood tagliatelle main course sauce was the same as other starter sauce. A basic tomato sauce, no seasoning. Mediocre food, no atmosphere, cold and uninviting restaurant and too pricey. Won't be back. Diners be warned.
Lovely setting, great food- really enjoyed our lunch
Lovely meal in gorgeous setting.
Delicious food in a beautiful setting. Great service too
Just fabulous. We were so lucky with the weather but it was an idyllic setting, fantastic food and lovely staff. Perfect.
Had 2 meals at the boathouse during our week away and both were absolutely delicious. Fab way to spend an afternoon.
Excellent food in idyllic setting
Perfect lunch in the most beautiful setting
What a beautiful afternoon we spent looking out over that stunning view and enjoying a seafood platter and some white wine. Just bliss!
