About The Boathouse
The Boathouse, situated on the fringe of the chic village of Seaview on the Isle of Wight is an idyllic beachside venue offering quality dining and accommodation by the sea. We pride ourselves on offering superb ales and an extensive wine selection to compliment our award winning food.
Had the most amazing lunch. Food was excellent. Staff were very friendly and attentive. If we had more time on the Island would definitely book again and highly recommend.
Excellent food. Very accommodating for group of 6 requiring space for our wheelchair and our dog.
Excellent food and very helpful staff.
We had a lovely meal whilst staying at the Boathouse Excellent value and service
Went with 2 young kids for early evening meal. Had to find someone to ask to be seated. Waited half an hour for food order to be taken (again had to go and find member of staff). Then told 15 mins later the kids option wasn’t available. Food turned up an hour after first sitting down. Kids sausages were lukewarm. Chips were soggy. Had to find someone again to pay bill. Not a good experience.
It’s a nice location for lunch or dinner. It did take a while to be served the main course. Staff were very friendly and polite. The food was fine but not amazing. I’ve enjoyed better from The Boat House in the past.
Very well catered for covid...felt safe and secure but also no reduction in food quality
Food took over an hour to come. Kitchen obviously stretched due to COVID but meals were not of good quality as they used to be here. No one minds waiting for good food at the moment but this was not good food like it used to be here.
Absolutely disgusted with the service Received. Was so looking forward to dining here and pre booked only to be told when seated that there was basically nothing on the menu available. Will never come here again!
Had too wait 40 mins before order taken , then another 40 mins before food came. Roast lamb dinner was the worst my husband has ever had. We had 2 young children with us and decided it was not worth complaining better to just get them fed and get out as quickly as possible.
Lovely staff nothing was too much trouble and great food
We had to wait a very long time for drinks and food. When we asked about the drinks were told they’d look into it but didn’t return with update or the missing drinks. The food was very disappointing- roast lamb was very fatty, vegetables were very plain and potatoes were cold. Steak was requested medium but was more like well done. Beef burger was very dry. We didn’t think it was worth complaining as not convinced it would have helped
Very lovely staff and delicious food. Children’s choices limited.
The lack of any vegetarian options and only one vegan option unfortunately rules this location out for us. This is a shame as the set up is good and the staff are great!
Spot on, vast improvement from when we visited in the summer! Good to see this place back at the top of its game! We’ll delve returning again soon.
Lovely food and very helpful staff, easy to book and we were able to walk there from our holiday cottage. Now just need another holiday so we can visit again!
Service was fab, the ladies looking after us were very attentive and they were very forthcoming with my daughters requests in altering their dishes. Smaller appetite meals were available but no children’s menu however that’s where they were able to assist with our requirements
Despite making a table reservation on-line and receiving another email nearer the day asking to reconfirm, which I did, they were unable to find my reservation when we arrived. They did find us a table though. The Sunday roast was pork but they had no apple sauce (we were offered mustard instead), neither was there any Yorkshire Pudding. Dessert was missing the quinell of clotted cream although the cheese and biscuits were great, as was the wine selection.
We had a great few days away - rooms were very comfortable and clean. The service from the staff was exceptional and the food was good.
Lovely meal with friendly staff and good service.
Excellent food, great night.
We really enjoyed our meal , our only comments would be the table was quite sticky and there was a lot of flies which ruined our meal.
Food menu was very restricted due to Covid however the menu choice was too limited especially when my husband has fish allergies and there was lots of fish on the menu. Struggled to choose meal. Portions was on the small side and thought was over priced
Staff not very fast / slow service - more or less like they switched off due to covid. Half hearted. Olives and Bread as starter £9 consisted of just a couple of slices of white bread and olives more than likely from a jar. Should have been an assortment of breads and Olives for that price. Chips seemed like they were just frozen chunky chips nothing wonderful. nothing to really make us feel like coming back again. Shame as the location is lovely over looking the sea.
This is my 4th visit to the boat house in seaview We visit everytime we holiday in the isle of wight And i had no hesitation in visiting this establishment during covid19 as my previous visit have always been excellent, but alas to say im hugely disappointed this time is a understatement On arrival we were seated at a table in the bar area which was sticky to the touch, i put this down to extra cleaning products being used we arrived just after 7pm We waited some 15-20 mins to be served are drinks of which came in a lipstick covered glass, this is unsatisfactory normally but under covid-19 it was majorly disappointing We ordered 2 starters to be told 10 mins after ordering that they only had one left and that its not a problem as the other starts are great!? Starters came and they reallly where not great We then waited nearly an hour for our mains Burger And chicken burger (which was cold albeit the chicken was cooked well) The buns were extremely dry and the egg cup of coleslaw looked like it had been on the plate a week A side order of onion rings which were very very greasy and the onion was tough was also very unappealing We had to ask for a second round of drinks after being ignored a considerable amount of time We had high hopes of having a delicious dessert but because the mains and starter had been so disappointing we passed and paid the bill and left 2 members of staff on in a fairly busy restaurant was not conducive with airing our disappointment at the time, hence my poor review Im very sorry to say we will not be back during this or any future vacation to the isle of wight
