About The Blue River Cafe
The Blue River Café is situated on the banks of the river Thames and is the ideal place for customers to enjoy a long leisurely lunch or dinner looking out at the activity along the river.
We offer a warm welcome and great service along with excellent food at a reasonable price. We welcome families and our Sunday Carvery is a firm favourite with our regular guests.
Food was hot , plenty of choices of vegetables at the carvery, polite attentive staff, will be back soon.
We had the carvery, the pork was dry and the beef very fatty. Some of the vegetables were dried up too. It’s a nice setting by the river and we had a lovely evening when we came for a Xmas party night. But the carvery was a little disappointing.
Our food was lovely and our waiter was pleasant. However we felt that service was very slow (I can appreciate you were busy that day but it wasn't just us that received slow service.)
Service was awful, starters were cold and carvery was very poor. Will not be recommending and very disappointed. Won't be returning
Food was very spicy which was not expected. Service was pretty poor, the guy really wasn't interested. No atmosphere
We didnt enjoy your decaf coffee - it was so weak and we did mention coffee wasnt great but it fell on deaf ears. The meal was good, shame to be followed by poor coffee
No atmosphere whatsoever, restaurant looks tired and run down, service ok and food ok but not amazing.
Staff were very good, very accommodating. Food good value and tasted good
We enjoyed the evening very much the food quality was good but the management of the restaurant and bar was poor. At 8.00pm when I arrived I bought a bottle of Sauvignon blanc which was the last bottle you had. We had been asked to preorder our food which we did but when the waiter arrived the kitchen did not have our preorder so we ordered again. My wife asked for a small starter portion or ribs but when it arrived it was a large portion and we were told the kitchen were not doing small portions however after we had finished our meal a waiter came to our table with a small portion. We would have liked a dessert but nobody came to take our order. We enjoyed our evening as we have similar evenings in the past but the management of the restaurant and bar on this occasion was a shambles.
Service was a little random and slow but staff are delightful and helpful. The Buble tribute was a great night and we will be back!
I was very impressed with the Carvery for sunday lunch yesterday. We found the staff very helpful and the food was delicious. .
Nice eating venue when staying in the hotel, Great menu variety Chicken burger was superb , not too busy in the week
Very nice.very fresh looking restaurant
We opted to for the carvery and was pleasantly surprised at the choices on offer, all of which was extremely tasty and perfectly cooked. We were serenaded by the resident pianist which made the atmosphere most enjoyable.
Visited The Blue River Café for the Sunday carvery. The food was good. the waiting staff were lovely and there was a pianist playing which created a lovely atmosphere. We had a table by the window so could look out over the Thames. One of our party has a severe garlic allergy and the carvery chef was fantastic, knew exactly what was in/on all of the food and a substitution made quickly, without fuss and at no extra charge. It was an enjoyable meal and I couldn't believe how quiet it was!
Service good as always
The food and service was top quality. Unfortunately it was very quiet in the restaurant and extremely cold.
Disappointed with the drink service. Food was lovely but room was very cold.
We were the only people in there when we arrived and it took over half an hour to even order. We had to request children’s menus despite there being 3 children at the table. Service was slow, and there was no atmosphere. The lady who took us to our table didn’t smile once. Won’t be going back.
Made the booking online and it was all confirmed, but there was no record of this when we arrived at the restaurant. We were still able to dine, but not sure how the link to me booking online and that reservation reaching the hotel, failed.
It was empty which was surprising as food was lovely. Enjoyed the evening nonetheless.
Service was woeful, burger on a slate is unacceptable use a plate, chips cooked in filthy oil, not good and the hotel was inadequate also.
Relaxed Sunday Lunch enjoyed the Great Value Carvery. Three meats to choose and fresh vegetables - good location overlooking the river.
Everything was great until we came to pay, we had to wait half an hour, small problem so keep up the good work.
