About The Blue River Cafe
The Blue River Café is situated on the banks of the river Thames and is the ideal place for customers to enjoy a long leisurely lunch or dinner looking out at the activity along the river.
We offer a warm welcome and great service along with excellent food at a reasonable price. We welcome families and our Sunday Carvery is a firm favourite with our regular guests.
Great atmosphere but singer was late and didn’t seem to play for that long but thoroughly enjoyed the evening
Very bad meal potatoes very peppery , carrots hard , Turkey was ok . Service very slow despite lots of staff standing around , after meal was made to feel very uncomfortable having to prove I had liked post on Facebook to get 2 for 1 deal ! Won’t be returning
Food was excellent the building is very run down and uninviting which would put people entering, a prime location
Lovely place for a Sunday roast , only thing was they did not have my online reservation but found us a table
Very poor service, never asked if we wanted more drinks, waitresses stood watching us and holding their car keys while we were trying to finish our meals. Only informed when we asked for the dessert menu that food stopped at 9 so we couldn’t have anything, not even offered tea and coffee. The room was being set up for breakfast while we were eating, this is all happening at 9.30 on a Friday night not a good night out.
Sat out on the balcony area. Décor generally very tired, windows in serious need of attention and good clean up, cobweb removal etc badly needed doing. Had to ask for table to be cleaned.
Basic but clean, comfortable rooms, very friendly and helpful staff and great value for money. Food is delicious and very reasonably priced but the drinks are expensive.
Overall a nice evening. Fantastic location, shame it appeared a little run down/neglected. Food was good, staff very friendly and efficient. Not sure if it’s a restaurant, pub, bar or night club, but we had a good visit!
I was put on a table which turned out to be in middle of dance floor whilst a disco was on. Food was ok but slow, basic pub food.
Lovely sitting by the Thames
Definitely not the best carvery. Carvery was Luke warm. Beef wasn't great. Carrots rock hard. Such a shame that its gone down hill. Roast Dinner used to be lovely. Guy that served our drinks was very pleasant and chatty
Appalling. I had “homemade” pie which clearly wasn’t homemade and was almost an empty case. My wife was served the wrong meal entirely; the right meal wa subsequently served: the pork had been previously cooked and then reheated so the the breading was tough.
Very nice waiter and we had 2 glasses of Prosecco bought out at the end of our meal. I had mentioned in my booking that it was our wedding anniversary and I thought that was a nice touch. Will come again
I left a review on Facebook and had any response.
The service and food and prices were great, they were very friendly, i booked a table for my husband’s birthday and they played a birthday song with candle they were very helpful. I recommend this cafe.
We visited The Blue River café several years ago and thought we would return for a Sunday roast. Whilst the food was really good we found that the service was poor compared to other times we had visited and the café certainly tired looking.
Great outdoors venue. Perfect for a sunny day lunch
Varied menu, good value, nice atmosphere. Perfect for a quiet lunch date.
Excellent food served here
Friendly, efficient service. Great food.
Food was hot , plenty of choices of vegetables at the carvery, polite attentive staff, will be back soon.
We had the carvery, the pork was dry and the beef very fatty. Some of the vegetables were dried up too. It’s a nice setting by the river and we had a lovely evening when we came for a Xmas party night. But the carvery was a little disappointing.
Our food was lovely and our waiter was pleasant. However we felt that service was very slow (I can appreciate you were busy that day but it wasn't just us that received slow service.)
Service was awful, starters were cold and carvery was very poor. Will not be recommending and very disappointed. Won't be returning
Food was very spicy which was not expected. Service was pretty poor, the guy really wasn't interested. No atmosphere
