About The Blue Crown
The Blue Crown a family friendly Pub & Restaurant in Brentwood, Essex and part of The Blue Group. Our aim is to serve the good quality food, draught beers, ales and craft beers in a friendly pub and dining room.
Due to the Coronavirus the restaurant was very quiet but that is out of the restaurants control and the staff particularly the waitress was very happy and knowledgeable. Food was very tasty and plentiful and the decor and feel in the restaurant was all very pleasant
We had a lovely afternoon tea for 5. Wasn't rushed off of our table very pleasant server . Tea and coffee flowing food was wonderful. Five out of five would highly recommend it .
Staff are friendly and really accommodating to guests with allergies
I visited the Blue Crown on Saturday for my birthday. Myself and 30 of my friends enjoyed a late lunch and bottomless procescco and gin! We had a great time and the value for money was really good! One thing I would like to highlight was the service, I have been to the crown many times and can safely say this was by far the best service I have received! Manager Gabby, waitress Kelly & waiter Adam were amazing. They catered for all our needs and nothing was too much. Considering we was such a large group it all run smoothly, on arrival the tables were not set up how I wanted and they had them re arranged within 5 minutes, they also made sure I had an area in the bar after we had ate, it’s these little things that made it perfect in my eyes. I want to give them a special thank you as they really did make the day run well. From past visits I can also highly recommend gabby as manager compared to the gentleman I have dealt with in the past. I will definitely be back soon and will recommend the crown to all my friends/family. Thank you again for a great day.
A great experience all round. Loved the environment and staff very friendly without being intrusive
After coming here before we booked again. It will probably be the last time for afternoon tea. Seriously under cut the top layer cakes that were slithers of shop bought loafs all the same and 1 was stale. Sandwiches were premade as 2 were slightly hard bread, not freshly made. On the whole very disappointed. Shame as was so nice before.
Lovely afternoon tea. All fresh and very tasty
It was nice and the waitress was really lovely and accommodating for our dietary requirements but I’ve been before a few years ago and it was much more special. The scones were a bit powdery. The cakes were lovely but not anything too special. But for the cot it was lovely.
Good value on groupon deal Portions were adequate although nearing the smaller side If I’d have paid full price would have been a bit disappointed
Had a lovely time. Felt like the staff didn't actually like that the whole prosecco lunch deal - felt like an inconvenience if we asked for a top up and they really like you to buy extra drinks while waiting etc. I would go back though. Food was amazing, just wonder if perhaps they need to increase the amount of the deal, felt like we should be grateful for getting anything because of the "unlimited prosecco"
All in all quite a lovely afternoon tea, but a few more finger sandwiches wouldn't go amiss
I booked afternoon tea through Groupon for a friends birthday having heard such positive thing about this place. I will say that ordinarily I would have gently complained at the time but as my friend was enjoying herself I didn’t want to make a fuss. We were welcomed by fabulous staff who were attentive and a credit to the establishment, however given how large the place is we were a little disappointed to be seated almost on top of another couple. We were asked of any dietary requirements- my friend is vegetarian and was told it would be catered for which to be fair it was. The afternoon tea arrived and I was very disappointed- having experienced afternoon tea in lots of different places to fit different budgets I felt this was done rushed and on the cheap. The sandwiches were an odd selection- coronation chicken being one of them - every tea I’d had provided before w offered cucumber and cream cheese, ham and mustard, egg and cress etc but this was far off- instead it tasted like left over jacket potato filling put into sandwiches that still had crusts on- not typical of dainty afternoon tea you would expect. Also, there was some limp lambs lettuce/greens put in the middle of the sandwiches for decoration but only reinforced the poor quality. The scones were delicious and we had plenty of jam and clotted cream which was really lovely. The top tier I felt was again quite disappointing as instead of the typical little cakes you would normally expect, there was 1 slice of carrot cake 1 slice of lemon drizzle and 1 slice of Victoria sponge. I enjoyed spending quality time with my friend who’d had a hard time that morning which is why I didn’t want to say anything at the time. The establishment itself looks and feels premium as was the service, it was a just a shame that the food let it down quite considerably. I have had a cheaper afternoon tea elsewhere which had much better quality ingredients/experience. I hope The Blue Crown take these comments on board to make some simple improvements that would make a significant difference to the whole experience.
Couldn't fault the service. Food freshly cooked and tasty but would have liked my brownie warm. Nice and quiet so could hear each other.
Staff were very attentive and helpful. A lovely venue for a baby shower, birthdays and so on, the marquee area is perfect if you want your own space to celebrate an occasion.Would definitely go back!
Fantastic will be back
Accommodated a large booking and children for my 30th birthday, we had a great time, thank you!
The service was quite slow, some people didn’t get their first drinks for half an hour. I think this was due to the restaurant being busy.
It was empty book for 20 people and when turned up they said no dj. We had 2 drink and went somewhere else. Bit of old mans pub atmosphere
Staff were friendly and attentive. Food was delicious albeit portions were too much for us.
Very pleasant and delicious lunch. Would recommend and revisit ourselves in the future.
Had a great afternoon loved having a round table made it so easy to talk food service all brilliant we sure to come back
Had a lovely afternoon tea here.
I paid £34 via grouping for a £60 plus meal thought it might be small portions but that was not the problem. The Huge disappointment was a set meal for Groupon customers where there was only two meals on each course that didn’t come with an additional supplement...... I opted for fish and chips which I could have got just as nice for half the price elsewhere and soup as these were both on the groupings none additional price part of the menu. Our bill came to an additional £35 on top of the £34 already paid, granted we had 2 glasses of wine which added to the bill, but £3.50 for a coffee each and additional £5 supplement fee bumped the cost up even further. If I was really worried about the additional add ins we would have been looking at a menu with a choice of two starters and two mains and that was very disappointing. We would have been better just buying off the main restaurant menu and probably saved money.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming, Afternoon was delicious.
