About The Blue Crown
The Blue Crown a family friendly Pub & Restaurant in Brentwood, Essex and part of The Blue Group. Our aim is to serve the good quality food, draught beers, ales and craft beers in a friendly pub and dining room.
Excellent Sunday Roast with very good choice of meat / poultry.
The food was very nice and we will be making more visits to try other dishes.
Great service, good food and a fab DJ. It’s so nice to have a good girlie lunch, then move to the bar and continue the evening with a great DJ. Sorry about our singing. Everything you need under one roof. Will definitely be back Thank you, Blue Crown.
I attended a bottomless Prosecco lunch with two friends. There were times when my friend’s glass was empty and your staff were standing together chatting. So it wasn’t really ‘bottomless’.
Food was just ok. Presentation was great, Decor and the food. Staff let this place down. We went for lunch and it was a quiet afternoon. Lots of staff stood around ‘having a laugh’. They were too busy chatting with each other rather than being attentive, we had to literally get up and ask for their attention to get drinks etc. Felt a little uncomfortable when walking in and again when we left. Again lots of staff ( including chef staff ) stood around the bar area/ entrance looking us up and down as we walked past. Not a good impression and didn’t feel very welcome.
Really good atmosphere and delicious food. Service was excellent with attentive staff. Would go back there again . Would recommend
Went for a bday meal. 22 of us and 5 not happy. Lamb was shocking. Raw. Didn’t eat any and was given 50% discount so still £13. Cousins ribs chewy and friends steak chewy All overpriced
Ordered appetisers which should of come out before our starter but actually came out after, asked waiter if seafood was already pre peeled in the linguine to which he replied with yes, but no it wasn’t! Long waiting times when restaurant wasn’t overly busy and the fact there was ample staff we should of been served quicker! Toilets were filthy dirty aswell, and you advertise a dj on a Saturday evening but there was just music playing! Wouldn’t come back.
We had afternoon tea if it wasn’t for it being a groupon offer I would say you don’t get a lot like some places we’ve been too maybe if you pay full price you would get more.. but overall the staff were attentive lovely setting and would return to see what the lunch/dinner is like!!
Lovely decor very polite staff. Afternoon tea was very nice good selection of sandwiches scone jam and cream each and a small selection of cakes. I had a pot of tea and my friend had a cappuccino all in all very enjoyable hour I would definitely recommend this lovely pub .
I held my aunts baby shower in the bar of The Blue Crown on Sunday 15th September. I was impressed with how helpful the bar staff and managers were; literally could not fault them! Craig was always so helpful on the phone and was so accommodating even when I was booking the venue a week before the event. Also the other manager who was there on the day(didn't catch her name) was so helpful and always checking up to make sure we were okay and that everybody's glasses were filled! Could not recommend enough; thank you so much! X
I’ve has tea here a few times and it is usually good and value for money. It has changed. The sandwiches were different and poor. The cakes were very basic. The scones were ok. It was a Friday afternoon and empty so not much atmosphere. Every other time I have been it was busier and that makes me think it is due to the food quality.
Very disappointed with the food on this occasion. One of my guests had the starter of halloumi bites which was only 4 small cubes in a little bowl with a few leaves, and compared to the other starters on our table this looked very inadequate - at least 6 would have been better or bigger cubes. Also the burgers were very dry, the cheese was practically non-existent and the buns burnt. Shame as previously we have had good food.
We had a lovely time but felt a bit disappointed with the DJ in the evening. We had expected to stay all evening but left to find somewhere to dance. Apart from that, we had a lovely time
Excellent service and meal as always
Food was lovely and excellent service. Very quiet for a Friday night and we’d seen online that there was live music or a DJ every Friday and Saturday which is why we went along. Unfortunately on this occasion there wasn’t, and there wasn’t any explanation as to why
Thank you so much ... one of the best and freshest afternoon teas I’ve had and I’ve had a few ... lovely & clean staff fantastic
Food was delicious! However the service was disappointing! It started well however once we received our mains we were sat with empty plates and glasses for over 30minutes before anyone asked if we would like another drink, to clear out plates or to offer a desert menu!
Bit noisy, with the table next to me doing shots of tequila rose after their Sunday dinner. However, the food and service is fantastic as always.
We were bought a voucher for our wedding and decided to use it. The place is nice and the staff were very polite. We arrived early and had a drink at the bar. Which we found quite expensive £7 for a small glass of rose and £5.50 for a pint of cider seemed a little on the high side. And then we went through to the restaurant. Which was a good size we unfortunately were seated right under the air con and we had to ask it for it to be turned off as we were freezing. We ordered our starters of hummus and bread strips and halloumi bites with a dip . It was nice but probably needed a bit more of it. Then the main I had lamb steak with lamb bon bons with mash potato and green beans wrapped in bacon with a red wine jue and I have to say it was delicious, cooked to perfection. My wife had fillet beef and prawn skewers with sweet potato fries which was ok. And finally our dessert I had the pina colada panacota and my wife the sticky toffee pudding with custard. After the mains we were both saying that the food although nice the portion sizes were a little on the small said and even joked about McDonald's on the way home. But after the desert I have to say we were just right so definitely worth the three courses. In all with four drinks it came to about £90 glad we had the voucher. Over all I did enjoy the food immensely and would return again but maybe in the week were they do better offeres as I did think it was a little pricey. But definitely worth a visit
The service was brilliant can not fault the lovely helpful staff. The restaurant decor is lovely. The food was really disappointing, the prawns were nice but bland, the pate was too salty and didn’t taste of much, the pesto pasta again had no taste and the pasta was over cooked it was like mush.
fantastic sunday roast
We came to the blue crown for my mum’s birthday, expecting a special meal, we did not receive anything near that. Our starters were pleasant. However, two of the main meals (ribs) turned up cold, my mother’s beef noodle dish with ‘nuts, seasame seeds and vegetables’ turned up with nothing of the sort, there were no nuts, seeds or vegetables, just beef and noodles, when we complained, the waitress bought out a small bowl of nuts to add to my mum’s bowl which was laughable. One of the lamb dishes was supposed to come with a lamb bon bon however, when this was bit into, it was discovered that the chef’s had put a goats cheese bon bon by error on the plate. This was my sister’s dish and she is allergic to cheese, this is not good enough. After we complained the manager on the night did not even bother to come over and apologise or find out what the problems were he made the young waitress deal with it. The restaurant was completely empty as we came in on a Tuesday night, therefore there is absolutely no excuse for this.
