About The Blacksmiths Arms
Contemporary Gastro pub using the finest local produce with a relaxed atmosphere offering professional and friendly service
Great lunch , easy atmosphere staff friendly and attentive, will return
We have dined here on a few occasions and decided to bring some friends along who haven’t been here. On this occasion service was unusually slow which the waitress herself noticed. After starters mains took 45 mins to come. Everything else was great!
We were celebrating our sons 21st birthday and was very pleased that we choose to dine at The Blacksmiths. Not being locals, we went on recommendations from tripadvisor and was not disappointed. We were made to feel very welcome, even the owner offering to move cars so that we could park outside was a lovely gesture. We all chose different from the menu and every dish was delicious, the fillet steak was the best my son had ever had! The extra 21st birthday message and sparkle with the dessert rounded the night off perfectly. Thankyou again, to all the team. It will remain a memorable evening for us all.
Hope you soon get your staffing problems sorted. Even with that still excellent xx
Dining at The Blacksmiths offers you that feeling of being spoiled. The food is well prepared, using the finest ingredients, and beautifully presented. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening; thank you to all the staff for making that possible.
The service on our latest visit was first-class, attentive and friendly. The dishes were promptly prepared and very enjoyable. You can always trust this establishment to deliver, when you have guests that you want to enjoy their time in Charnwood.
Love this restaurant and highly recommend
A couple of large parties made for a noisy atmosphere but it wasn`t offensive. My food, whilst enjoyable, was not very warm when served. This may have been to the large parties in at the same time. Small points but hopefully constructive observations.
Really like it hear as the atmosphere is really nice and the food, Drink and Service are usually very good.
Down stairs is better. We were seated at a round table down stairs, but then asked if we would be happy to move as someone else would like our table. There was a table in the conservatory, which we think is better, so we moved there. We ordered pre-dinner drinks at the table, but the waitress took the wine list away, so he had to ask for it back to order for our meal. Food was very good - I had the duck.
Thanks again enjoyed it
I usually love coming to the blacksmiths arms for Sunday lunch however wasn’t overly impressed in this occasion & found myself apologising to my lunch guests for having brought them. The service was extremely slow & inconsistent & the food was disappointing- incinerated cauliflower cheese & paper dry Yorkshire puddings!
I came to you for my birthday meal knowing you had the perfect room to sit us all in. For such a large group of us the team of waiters and waitresses at the Blacksmiths really looked after us all. They were very attentive and sorted out any issues quickly with no fuss. Really appreciated the hard work you put into making our time with you a good one. Will recommend you to all I speak to. Thank you x
The starters were delicious. However the choice of the main dishes were a bit uninspiring . We opted for the pasta dish but it was nothing to write home about. We were a tad disappointed and the main course choice and the quality of the main course is not what we are used to at The Blacksmiths, which has been outstanding on many occasions in the past
Always a pleasure dining at the Blacksmiths, extremely friendly team, good wine and delicious food. Highly recommended.
It was lovely, a real gem in a lovely location.
We were seated upstairs, there was certainly less atmosphere but that didn't change our feelings on the blacksmiths. The main course we both had a burger, the burger sauce was disgusting and the chips and onion rings cremated! I'm no chef but I would certainly not let these go out to a customer. The waitress was very good, she offered to get a new one made, but as we had already waited a while, we decided against this. She gave us our pudding free of charge, which was fair of her. Myself, after working years in customer service industry, would have let us off the main course. Unfortunately, it has made us realise that we would not dine with you again as it is very overrated for what we actually got. I hope this feedback helps.
Delicious food, great selection of drinks and friendly service. I will revisit soon! Thank you.
Amazing food and service as always
I had a party for 29people at the Blacksmith's, the food was great, staff very attentive and they made it a fabulous day for my husband. We look forward to the next one.
We booked our table at short notice for my brother-in-laws 65th Birthday so didn’t get our preferred time to eat, but that’s not the restaurants fault. I’ve eaten here several times and have never had a bad meal, everything was spot on, it was the first time for my brother-in-law and he loved it. The staff were amazing, we didn’t sit until 9.30 and I was concerned that eating so late would mean we would be rushed, the total opposite was experienced, the food was gorgeous and very tasty, after eating we were still asked if we would like to sit in the comfy chairs for coffee. The staff went out of their way to make sure everything was ok, brilliant service. I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion and will definitely be going back. Thank you from us all for lovely evening especially my brother-in-law he had a great time it was such a chilled relaxed evening.
Excellent menu, amazing sharing starters. Superb service as always from the best restaurant in the area.
My partner and I had lunch on a Saturday. Cod with fondant potatoes, a creme brulee, and a cheese plate. We had some beers, port and coffee. All the food was excellently cooked, tasty and it was well presented. We did have to send some grapes back because they had gone bad. The front of house were polite, welcoming and attentive. This was my first visit to the Blacksmith's arms and it wasn't really what I was expecting. I thought it would be more pub than restaurant but it was the other way around. When we first arrived we had a drink by the wood burner in the front which was nice but then we look a table at the back to dine, which wasn't so nice. I didn't really like the decoration and the oddments for sale, they didn't seem to fit and weren't to my taste. Overall great food and staffing.
