About The Black Horse - Little Weighton
Little Weighton is one of those villages that feels like it’s miles away but is ideally situated about a 10 minutes drive from Cottingham, Beverley, Willerby, South Cave and Brough. In the heart of this picturesque village sits The Black Horse which has offered refreshments to villagers and guests for over 200 years
Since taking on the then failing pub late in 2011, Micaela and her team have transformed The Black Horse into an award winning, true destination pub. Exceptional food mixed with friendly service, stylish, comfortable surroundings and a gin & tonic list to rival even the trendiest city centre bar make The Black Horse well worth travelling a little out of your way for.
Our menu features much loved pub classics and traditional British dishes re-invented with an imaginative twist and skilful cooking. The emphasis is on good locally sourced, seasonal ingredients and when available produce from our own (or our neighbours) gardens and allotments.
Brilliant service, delicious food lovely ambiance
Excellent food! A lovely place to visit
Service was a little slow , kept waiting about an hour after ordering, also the icecream was disappointing that came with the sticky toffee pudding it seemed like a low cost option but not very tasty. Staff were very friendly and polite. We will visit again.
Been visiting the Black Horse on and off for several years and it’s always reliable. Excellent open fish pie and pork belly at the moment. Bar is cosy and extensive gin menu.
Great place, great food and service. Highly recommend.
Excellent food as usual. Great rapport
Imi looked after our table and was outstandingly pleasant and efficient. Food was very good. We will come again.
We went to the Black Horse for my nephews’ birthdays and had a memorable evening indeed. The boys had ribeye steak for the first time, these were perfectly cooked as were the other mains including a wonderful halibut and good old fish and chips. The staff team front of house and in the kitchen were professional, friendly and eager to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. We’ve been many times before for special occasions like this but also for midweek suppers and Sunday lunches and have never been disappointed. Looking forward to the next visit.
Fantastic, food, service, and atmosphere. Very accommodating.
Great food and service every time
Very friendly and helpful staff. Food great with plenty of fresh veggies. Thoroughly enjoyed.
Just a nice place to spend some time,
Another fabulous taster menu. Congratulations to Micaela, Wendy and the team for a fantastic evening. Quality and presentation of the food was outstanding. Looking forward already to the next one.
We had a wonderful evening and really enjoyed the experience of the subtle flavours of Wendy's tasting menu. The presentation and service of the team matched the high standards we've come to expect.
Had to send lamb dish back as it was tough and inedible hence low food rating. It's never fun when one diner has to wait for replacement dish!
Two vegetarians and a vegan in the party were well catered for. A great evening
I was dining with my husband, two sons, my daughter-in-law and my dog and we were all made very welcome. The food was lovely and my lactose intolerance and my daughter-in-law’s allergy to nuts and onions were taken into account and the meals changed accordingly, with no apparent loss of taste! A very pleasant dining experience.
Good service and food
Everything good apart from time taken between courses
We had the nicest meal at the Black Horse. Our dog was welcome while we ate in the bar area with treats on the bar for him too. We also had the best food we’ve had in a long time with decent portions, a great selection and tasty food! The upside down fish pie and burger were our choices and they were so good. We were well looked after for our evening and would definitely return!
My Sunday lunch was lovely., no complaints apart from a bit more veg would have been good. The beef was cooked to perfection and super tasty and The Yorkshire puddings were fluffy and nice. However the desert was a different story. I ordered the meringue which looked so impressive. The only thing was it was so dry! I had to ask for some pouring cream as it was actually inedible without it. I’m not the only person that thought it as there were two ladies on the next table who left a lot of their meringues for the same reason. The serving staff were lovely but seemed quite inexperienced. They kept constantly interrupting our conversation to ask if they could clear dishes etc. It became quite annoying .
Excellent didning experience especially the profesional friendly accomodating staff really enjoyed our sunday lunch and will be returning not only for family meals but also with business colleagues
Always enjoy the Black Horse, such a feel good atmosphere The staff are always friendly & efficient
Table was in use at the time we booked for so a bit of a wait but other than that a great meal and the waitress looked after us really well
