About The Black Horse - Little Weighton
Little Weighton is one of those villages that feels like it’s miles away but is ideally situated about a 10 minutes drive from Cottingham, Beverley, Willerby, South Cave and Brough. In the heart of this picturesque village sits The Black Horse which has offered refreshments to villagers and guests for over 200 years
Since taking on the then failing pub late in 2011, Micaela and her team have transformed The Black Horse into an award winning, true destination pub. Exceptional food mixed with friendly service, stylish, comfortable surroundings and a gin & tonic list to rival even the trendiest city centre bar make The Black Horse well worth travelling a little out of your way for.
Our menu features much loved pub classics and traditional British dishes re-invented with an imaginative twist and skilful cooking. The emphasis is on good locally sourced, seasonal ingredients and when available produce from our own (or our neighbours) gardens and allotments.
Our first visit to the Black Horse. Which came recommended by some friends. The food was delicious and the service was excellent, well worth the visit. Hope to visit again.
Lovely meal again and a great experience. The staff serving food wear face masks and the pub supplies hand sanitiser on each table.
Very enjoyable evening. The food was good and presentation was also good. The girls serving us were attentive and welcomed us in a friendly manner. We will be returning.
Excellent value , in very pleasant surroundings .
we took advantage of the of the extended eat out scheme well pleased with food and service and will visit again on full price
We came on a Wednesday when the restaurant was still offering half prices under the Government scheme so obviously my review reflects this. Everything was really good, especially the food and we liked the pub inside, although it was a bit chilly in the bar and the dining room.
Food is gorgeous, a full restaurant made for a good atmosphere, nothing to complain about here
Nice place to visit , looks quite small from the outside but big once inside. We had a lovely evening all the staff very friendly lovely atmosphere.
Quite a while since I last visited but, apart from Covid requirements, all was reassuringly familiar. Good to see the team together again and as usual I received excellent service. I chose squid and steak pie - both brilliant! I also had the Picpoul, also excellent. Brilliant meal with no constructive criticism!
Really great food and beautifully presented. Will definitely be going back.
Really enjoyed our first visit to, The Black Horse. Fab food, delightfully cooked liver and bacon, for me.(would have liked some onions in the gravy) Tasty steak and ale pie for my wife (a good trade!). Both enjoyed a delicious crumble. Excellent service, in comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The bonus of Eat out to Help out, was, we'll a Bonus.cant wait to visit again. Consider the word spread.👍
It was clear to see the amount of effort that had been put into making customers feel safe and welcome. The food was just lovely and it was great to see families of all ages enjoying Sunday Lunch. Thank you.
We use the Black Horse whenever we stay at the Lodges just up the road. Myself and Joanne are always made welcome by Alaya and the girls, they even treat our dog Alf really well. This is a pub we actually travel from Wakefield which is around 50 minutes away but well worth it. Lovely pub lovely people and a wonderful team. Love to you all and see you in November when we are back for 3 nights unless we get restless before 😁😁😁
Fantastic food, lovely restaurant and staff very friendly would highly recommend And we will definitely be returning
Excellent service, thank you Chloe for being so attentive. Sunday lunch was superb, fresh veg and perfect meat and roast potatoes. Looking at the menu I thought the desserts seemed a little expensive, but when they arrived, they were well worth the price. Thank you to Aleah for going out of her way to get me a weekday menu to take home. Will certainly be visiting again and again.
Food was excellent, wine was average and expensive for what it was. Venue was safe and well organised. Return call about reservation was appreciated.
Always excellent food amazing
Food was lovely, service was great.
Excellent Food, best I’ve had for some time..
The staff are very pleasant but seemed a little overworked, which meant there were a few delays in taking orders, taking payment etc. Good Covid precautions and felt perfectly safe.
My apologies for any delay you received in service last Friday evening. Unfortunately the bookings shot up at the last minute and I was unable to arrange any additional cover.
Excellent Steak Pie and the upside down Fish Pie - very tasty!
Excellent food and service
Great food and service as always. Really impressed with the safety measures in place in this unusual time
Imaginative and impressive signature dishes plus traditional pub favourites are all cooked and presented to perfection in stylish and comfortable surroundings. Deserts are delicious and service professional yet friendly. An impressive wine list will delight lovers of the vine. Much to recommend at the Black Horse thanks to the attentive Michaela and her sparkling team.
It certainly was an extra incentive to come because of the government scheme: Eat out to Help out. That been said we will definitely be back. Thank you for a good service with all the extra safety precautions. Remy
