About The Black Horse - Little Weighton
Little Weighton is one of those villages that feels like it’s miles away but is ideally situated about a 10 minutes drive from Cottingham, Beverley, Willerby, South Cave and Brough. In the heart of this picturesque village sits The Black Horse which has offered refreshments to villagers and guests for over 200 years
Since taking on the then failing pub late in 2011, Micaela and her team have transformed The Black Horse into an award winning, true destination pub. Exceptional food mixed with friendly service, stylish, comfortable surroundings and a gin & tonic list to rival even the trendiest city centre bar make The Black Horse well worth travelling a little out of your way for.
Our menu features much loved pub classics and traditional British dishes re-invented with an imaginative twist and skilful cooking. The emphasis is on good locally sourced, seasonal ingredients and when available produce from our own (or our neighbours) gardens and allotments.
Would highly recommend the Sunday lunch. We celebrated our daughters 21st birthday recently, ,great food and great atmosphere !
We've been quite a few times to The Black Horse. Sunday lunch was delicious, husband enjoyed fish and chips. Welcoming and service good and friendly.
Another lovely Sunday lunch at Black Horse ,food cooked to perfection including fresh veg..
The food was excellent as always. The slightly more greedy of us would have liked a little more crackling with the pork, but this was a very, very minor consideration. It was very busy, so a bit noisy and hard to talk when we arrived. but this was quickly remedied when the food arrived on tables. A lovely experience for my two guests, one from Selby and one from Cambridge. We'll be back.
Lovely meal. Great atmosphere and attentive staff
Back after many years away. Excellent meals and service. Glad to be back.
1st time here and definitely won’t be the last. Booked for Sunday lunch for 6 adults. Warm welcome as soon as we came through the door. Our table wasn’t quite ready so we’re shown to the bar to order drinks. After 5 minutes we were told our table was ready. Sat down, waitress was very pleasant and polite. Took our orders , food arrived around 15 minutes later. Everyone on our table commented that their food was very nice and well cooked. Overall I would say a little gem for Sunday lunch. Very busy at the time we went but that tells you everything you need to know! Busy pub is a good pub !
Booked on the day and managed to get a table for two. We had Sunday lunch Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, was very tasty, No scrimping in the beef and lots of gravy. Stafff were very friendly and the ambience was warm and decor modern. Will definitely return. Thanks to all at the Blackhorse.
Lovely fresh veg and great gluten free options. Very friendly service.
You never fail to deliver excellent food and fab service 🍸🍸
We had a fabulous meal, lovely relaxed atmosphere and very pleased with the amount of GF options this was a refreshing change. Loved it and will definitely be back soon.
As a family group who usually dine out for Christmas Lunch this was probably the best all round experience we have had in the last 10 years! Very well organised, warm welcome, no time pressure, superb food and the service was spot on. Overall an extremely well hosted Lunch, full marks to the team.
Value was even greater by the offered 30% discount which was given without meal quality being compromised. An exceptional night out and highly recommended.
Lovely birthday meal with really good food in a beautiful dining room. Comfortable, friendly and modern environment, good choice on the menu. Only grumble was that service was quite slow considering the room was less than half full. Will definitely visit again soon.
I brought a group of friends and we all had a thoroughly enjoyable evening, thank you very much.
Simply the best Gastropub in the area. It rivals Pipe and Glass for food standard but without the lofty price tag and somewhat snooty atmosphere. Could use a bit more ambience in the dining room but the bar area is exceptional.
Staff were very attentive but - - - - - Answerphone (closed until 3rd Jan) when rung in the morning (11am ish) & could only book online. - Placed in dark corner at the back of the bar with constantly screaming child & also dog nexr to us. - Carrots burnt & replacements also burnt. - Glass of white (house asked for) wine @ £9.00!!! Overall not a good experience by anyone's standards.
Brilliant will definitely come again
Fabulous food and service we will be back
Really nice staff, fantastic service, and the food was amazing. We will be coming back again.
Christmas Day lunch was perfect in every way. Delightful home made food, absolutely scrumptious and piping hot which is so important. Will be booking again for next year.
Really great Boxing Day lunch. Superb food and service.
We managed to get a table for 4 at the time we wanted, which was a miracle after every other restaurant we contacted were fully booked. Glad they were, and we got to taste the wonderful food and warm hospitality of the a great local pub that is in a small village and maintains that local community spirit. Was very busy in the bar due to children having been singing carols, so didn't manage to get a drink prior to sitting down. The staff were very busy but were always polite and attentive. It may be an hours drive for us but we fully intend to re-visit and try something else off the menu. Well worth making a reservation - you won't be disappointed. :o)
Service was a little slow to start with but food was hot and well prepared so well worth the initial wait for starters. Great value for money at £35 / hd for Boxing Day.
Great meal and lovely atmosphere on Christmas Eve. Very good service considering how busy the restaurant was. Looking forward to our next visit!
