All very good thank you
The food and service was excellent. Just ensure everyone knows what the draft beer is and the catch of the day. We will definitely be back. The enthusiasm and attention was lovely
Fantastic place! Staff were brilliant, can't wait to go back again!
Delicious food, fantastic service Would definitely recommend
A thoroughly enjoyable experience . Great food. Lovely place. The dome kept us dry and warm. Will return
We sat outside in the Courtyard and the weather was not good for sitting outside! We had checked the weather before booking and were dressed appropriately. The food was great and more than made up for having to wear woolly hats and gloves to eat it!
The courtyard Domes were such a great idea
Food was a let down. It arrived cold and we had to send it back. Also had to ask for cutlery when the food arrived. Waited a very long time to get any drinks orders. Felt like we were forgotten about. Waited half an hour for a cup of tea, which I then had to stir with a fork because I didn’t get a spoon and couldn’t get a servers attention.
Excellent service and beautiful food, something a little special without breaking the bank! We will definitely be back when we are in the area again. We hope you keep the domes too, they are fab!
Very poor value for money. Order was wrong!
The food and drinks were great, atmosphere with the band was excellent. However the management was extremely poor. We were sat at our table and the first two courses arrived promptly and on time. We ordered a number of drinks and were enjoying the atmosphere with the live band. We then were offered dessert which was ordered by the waitress who was extremely polite and friendly. After the food arrived we were then told to get of the table as soon as possible because someone had booked the table. This from a different waiter to the one serving our table who seemed completely incompetent at customer service and knowing how to talk to people. We had not been told about this prior to ordering. We were told to move. I then spoke to the manager who said we should have been aware. The booking contained no information about a time slot or that there was a window of time to order. My question is what planet is this manager on where the guest is watching their clock to make sure they know what time the table is to be vacated. Myself and my fellow diners were absolutely shocked that we had been told to get off a table after we had just received dessert with no prior warning or knowledge that we were expected to vacate a table. I accept that it was busy and there may have been a time slot, however this was terribly communicated and the management refused to accept it was their problem, which it absolutely was. It’s a real shame because we enjoyed the meal, spent money on three courses and generally had a lovely experience up until that point. The level of service at the end of the meal was so poor we honestly felt like cattle being moved. Understandably, times are tough and support for service industry is needed - but common courtesy to diners shouldn’t be taken for granted
Waited outside for 15 minutes having arrived for 7pm as requested then asked to walk through the restaurant back to outdoors to our "temporary seating" which was exactly next to where we started! Our booking was apparently in the system for 8.30 but we arrived at 7pm as discussed personally when booking having dined there only 3 days previously...we were told that there was live music from an excellent duo from Liverpool at 7pm on Friday and this was why we wanted to dine at 7pm( the duo were excellent incidentally) No one took a drinks order for 10 minutes whilst we sat in the cold and I had to request someone who turned out to be the Manager to take a drinks order. She proceeded to effectively blame us for the time error even though this is the time we had been told to arrive by her colleague on the Tuesday! We were eventually seated an hour later having had to ask for menus in a table with a broken heat lamp...we mentioned this to unhelpful Manager twice who said the gas had run out and she would see if it could be replaced...(she never did) in the meanwhile she was giving blankets and was chatting to to two of her friends who left after one drink...we spent over £300 on our two visits and received appalling service on the second visit...the first visit with different waiting on staff had been great...we were even asked if we wanted desserts said yes and no order was taken!!! We had to ask again five minutes later when unhelpful Manager returned outside. The Manager clearly didn't want to provide us with good service presumably due to the time error mix up which was not our fault but she clearly decided was. I now feel so bad for inconveniencing you by bringing my custom. Even when paying the bill I had to walk( masked of course) into the restaurant and non of the 3 waiting on staff greeted me to take payment and each scattered into different locations...it was then that a gentlemen approached me to ask if I needed assistance ( the owner?) he at least was civil and even offered complimentary drinks which we declined as it was very cold outside and ours was the table with no heat lamp. In summary a really, really bad experience caused by the Manager who decided to treat decent paying customers with contempt...And we by the way had travelled 30 mile round trip for the "privilege" To use the old cliché I would have awarded no stars not one for service but this wasn't an option Fair play for getting the business open and you have a nice establishment and reasonable if somewhat expensive food...which I wouldn't have begrudged paying if I could have some service with my dining experience! Retrain your manager urgently or get a new one and customers like me might come back. Don't and they wont come back.
Lovely food and very good service. Love the domes! Only slight negative I'd give is that the menu is quite limited and doesn't have a lot of choice. I will be returning though 😊
Amazing food, and lovely service!
Weather aside, food quality was disappointing especially for price point and service was poor. Staff were friendly and polite but not attentive - ordered coffee, did not ask if wanted sugar or milk and didn’t bring out. Asked for it - took 10 mins to bring it. We were asked if we wanted a blanket - said yes, never arrived. Asked a second time and told, “not sure if any blankets left but I will check”. No feedback, no response. Lots of staff present, but not seen to by one person - perhaps the issue? Food quality - had fillet steak. chips didn’t taste fresh - hard (not crispy) bits like retried, blue cheese sauce was tasteless, carrots were hard. Had torte for dessert - it was dry, powdery texture - not sure how fresh that was. I expected a lot better in terms of quality and quantity for price being charged. Hope it improves.
The staff were amazing considering the difficult weather conditions. Food was fantastic and you were able to cater for my mother’s food issues and let her pre-order her lamb. Can’t wait to come back.
Service and food was incrediable!
Whist I understand current restrictions are tough to have many empty tables at the fron and to say we cannot have a drink prior to our meal due to not having enough staff plod really poor. As The the meal my wife had the salad which should have had a dressing, it came without a dressing and when this was pointed out the staff member came back with a pesto dressing which was not correct and on challenging this we were told chef is old. The fish came full of bones and was hard to eat. I loved the domes but the above really let it down.
The roast was lovely couldnt fault it however the soup was only just warm, we waited 15 mins after being seated before anybody came to serve us, the staff were pleasant but really not attentive enough our plates and empty glasses were on the table a good 20 mins nobody cleared the table or asked if we wanted another drink or if the food was ok, it was only that my partner went inside to try and order that someone came to serve us, although there was heaters it was too cold on the courtyard and the parasols barely protected from the rain, I would say only go if you can get in a dome unless the weather is good
Starter's came before my drinks service was slow .sent my soup back as it tasted of Heine's Tomato soup .wine was so over priced there was no wine list .
Lovely heated domes to dine in (still take a coat if the weather is cold you are outside!), excellent food, made our Anniversary very special we were even welcomed with a glass of bubbly 👍 definitely recommend.
Food was very nice, although we didn't receive all of it! We did query this,we got an apology from the waiter, but the missing food still did NOT appear.
The food and drink was amazing. The service was appalling. We had to chase someone down to order, we then waited over 30 mins for drinks, which only arrived because we chased them up. Food arrived without the sides and only on us promoting did it eventually show up. A waitress spilt a drink over my leg and bag, said a brisk sorry as she was walking off. We discussed this with the waitress at the time of paying and she automatically blamed the kitchen staff, missing the point totally. It is a really shame as the food was lovely but we wouldn’t come back because of the appalling service. I did try and contact the pub afterwards to discuss but so far no one has gotten back to me
The experience was good but the food wasn’t great...I ordered the parfait and risotto and didn’t really like them...both were a bit wet. Everyone else ordered burgers and loved them. There was live music which was a lovely surprise. The heaters weren’t very good but we all had a nice time. If I come back I’ll order a burger.
All round a great afternoon at the black dog. Highly recommended
