The food had a really good flavour but the venue was really cold so we didn't stay for dessert. Despite phoning ahead there was no gluten free bread and the menu was quite limited as adjustments were not offered such as substituting a sauce so I wouldn't recommend if you have any dietary requirements. The service was very casual. We were quite surprised this is Michelin starred.
An outstanding meal and one which I cannot wait to repeat. Staff are extremely friendly and attentive. Top Notch.
An excellent lunch, the food was delicious beyond expectations.
The food and drink was excellent as well as the service. The atmosphere though could have been better.
The food was absolutely delicious and we were so blown away with all our three courses. We also had an amazing pumpkin soup which was a token meal bought out in a little cup. It was the best soup I had ever tasted to be honest!! What I also really liked was the spaces between the tables as in some restaurants you are so close to the people next to you that you can hear their conversations. Here it felt like you were eating in someone’s lounge with a little table next to you to put your water on. Fabulous waiting staff who explained all the dishes perfectly. It wasn’t pretentious or snobby so we felt very comfortable eating there. I also liked that the menu wasn’t huge so it didn’t take loads of time to choose something in the hope you would get a good tasting dish. You knew that any choice would be spectacular and we were were certainly very pleased. We left feeling full and contented. We will definitely return. Hopefully very soon!!
Everything was wonderful. We had the best evening. Lovely touch regarding the birthday sweets! One of our party required gluten free options and this was well catered for. The only recommendation I would make is if you could offer some gluten free bread alongside your amazing bread. Thank you guys
The flavours were delicious, it is wonderful French cooking. Especially the ox cheek its jus took it to another level. The staff are courteous, happy and knowledgeable. It is a glorious experience, for knowledgeable diners.
Beautiful location. Food was delicious. The service was a little slow considering there are only a handful of tables but the food was delicious and worth the wait.
The food was excellent but our visit , which was a very important family gathering, was spoilt by the cold that pervaded the restaurant. We asked for a supplementary heater but none was forthcoming. One customer was sat in her coat.
Superb food, living up to its Michelin star status. Service was on point without being overly fussy. Food highlights for me was the superb amuse bouche (I won’t spoil the surprise), the reduction sauce with the beef and the cheese soufflé. The fondant was also excellent to be fair, cooked to absolute perfection. Wine flight was excellent and very well matched to the food too. Nice to have such amazing food in a beautiful old pub with a buzzing atmosphere rather than a formal dining room too. We’ll be back for sure.
The menu du hour was excellent value for a delicious lunch. It was a bonus to start with an Amuse Bouche. Service was attentive but unintrusive. One point. If you use ingredients from other countries please check the pronunciation. The pronunciation of Gouda cheese was an example of how to look as if you are just ticking an explanation of ingredients box.
We had a pre theatre supper. Absolutely delicious food. My pumpkin soup was the best. Creamy with pumpkins seeds for crunch and aged Gouda for flavour. The service was friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back. Thank you!
Excellent food to Michelin Standard. Excellent service, except that the main course was a long time coming. Expensive.
Excellent food, very enjoyable
The food is outstanding! Staff were really polite and attentive.
Hi, we had the lovely tasting menu. We all liked it a lot. I think there was to much white wine - just a thought.
The service from the 2 ladies front of house was superb, attentive but not obtrusive. Food was excellent, particularly the pumpkin soup starter. The chef has the balance of flavours spot on with all 3 courses. I will definitely be returning for more.
We both enjoyed the food particularly the beef rendang, the brill and the monkfish. The bar lacked Gordon’s gin but did have decent beer and wine. Staff both good. Booking process easy. I liked the use of old style decor, cutlery and plates etc. Our first visit and likely to return in the future.
Food was fantastic, great experience in an unpretentious setting. Had 2 courses but the bread and amuse bouche were a nice touch, unexpected but delicious.
Delicious food and a lovely service
We had a truly delicious meal. The smoked salmon starter was absolute perfection (loved the candied walnuts), the sea bream cooked beautifully and the mash velvety. It would have been nice to have some vegetables (these may have been on the a la carte menu, but we didn't notice). The prune and armangnac sundae could have benefitted from the prune being cut into smaller pieces (it was very large and a challenge to eat in one piece!), but these are small asides and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Such a shame the restaurant was empty for the pre-theatre meal time, but we're sure it won't stay this way for long. Many thanks.
The staff were lovely and attentive, providing a wonderful service. The food was excellent.
Superb food and extremely professional, friendly and knowledgeable service which really stood out. Quirky venue but absolutely charming. Thank you for a lovely evening!
Excellent service. Relaxed atmosphere broken only by our screaming newborn baby girl -- but staff were very friendly and helpful making it easier for us to soothe her. Food unbelievable.
