About The Bistro at Cable Bay
Luxurious and elegant, our multi award-winning restaurant uses the freshest seasonal produce from our organic kitchen gardens and orchard every day. Our talented chefs take inspiration from Waiheke’s terroir, our elegant wines and Auckland’s flourishing food culture to create modern New Zealand cuisine that is all about flavour.
Food was stunning, location is fantastic and service was brilliant. It was a lovely long lunch.
Beautiful setting and food
the food was fantastic, beautifully presented, and absolutely gorgeous too. with regards to your auto booking facility, it doesn't allow one to leave a comment requesting say an outdoor seat, or one with a front row view, which is a bit of a shame.
Ambiance is lacking in the Bistro and we were very disappointed to learn that the Verandah was closed.
Everything was awesome. Jamie our server was well informed on every entree and wine. Flavors were perfect. One negative,Dessert was a ripoff
Excellent food and service. Sharing plates is a novel and very agreeable way of dining. The food remains at the highest standards possible.
We had a wonderful lunch with excellent service. We will definitely be recommending your restaurant to friends. Lovely food beautifully presented and excellent wine with a brilliant ocean view from the restaurant.
Our party of 8 had a very enjoyable night. The staff were very accommodating. The food, service and atmosphere were all exceptional. We will definitely return with our family and friends.
Wow! What a spectacular dining experience. The view, atmosphere, service, food and wine were simply amazing. Memories were made.
View from the outdoor table was stunning! We had great service and the food was totally delicious, loved the lemon meringue dessert!! Thanks to the awesome staff
Beautiful location, tasteful decor, excellent service, delicious food and superb wine.
Divine food in a magical setting, a must when visiting Waiheke!
Exquisite steak, just amazing. Really nice service We will return
Had unfortunate mix up where one of the mains wasn't put through and we had a long wait for his to come. However our waiter was very appologetic and offered us free drinks. Would still go again as the food was delicious
Food/wine and service was great!
We were a group of 6 going for a long lunch. We started in the Dining Room. The service was incredibly slow and we sat there waiting and looking for someone to serve us for a long time. Finally when we were served, we ordered a cheese platter, breads and a salad to start while we waited for one of our group who was running late. The cheese platter was expensive $36) and really only enough for 1 person. A ridiculous price for such a small serving. The service continued to be slow, the menu was limited and well overpriced, so we moved for the rest of our lunch to the Verandah where the menu was much better … however we had our issues there with service too until I found the manager to say that no one was looking after us.... with so much competition on the island with wineries - I wouldn't go back. Our general feeling was that they don't work on repeat business as they probably don't have to with so many tourist visitors each year... disappointing.
The food and surroundings are superb but the service was a bit hit and miss to be honest. We came in at 2.25ish on Sunday -our booking was for 2.15pm but the Waiheke taxi service let us down even though we had pre-booked...I rang ahead and the lady who took my call advised that the kitchen closed at 2.30pm so we had better hurry...but that she would talk to them and see if they could stay open a bit longer for us. Our first waiter was efficient and took our orders so that the kitchen could do their job and finish up. While we waited we had moved our wine glasses and the reserve sign on the table as we were taking a photo of the view - as I am sure everyone does - and another lady (French I think) came along and moved them all back and when I asked her to leave them as we were taking a photo she was very rude about it and gave us the death stare and avoided us the rest of the afternoon. Very unprofessional and not very customer leading at all. Then a third guy took over the dining room, Italian maybe? He was very friendly and engaging and finished our time at Cable Bay on a high note. The food was fabulous, we tried the corn, scallops, Prosciutto, the lamb main and the handcut fries...all sensational. We also had a cheeseboard to finish...which at $70 for 4 small pieces of cheese and a few crackers seemed a bit overpriced? Had we known it would cost that much we might have flagged it to be honest. Overall we had a fabulous time and were lucky enough to be allowed to buy one of the Reserve Syrah bottles amongst a few others to bring home with us, so thank you for an overall wonderful experience.
Our lunch at Cable Bay was everything we could have wished for and highly recommend the whole experience
Fabulous food and wine however having booked in for a special occasion, which was stated this at time of booking, we did not feel it was any more special than any other nice meal out we have had.
Really disappointed to learn that due to court decision there will be no service for food and drinks in the outside area. Also the bar area not able to be opened to the outside and therefore closed by a plastic windbreak curtain. Hope the management are successful in overturning this decision🙄
We had a great time, and all the prearrangements we made for the occasion we celebrated went as planned. Thank you for a lovely experience!
Great food and service; top notch !
The food was outstanding thank you
