About The Bell
Welcome to The Bell in Stoke Mandeville, a classic countryside pub with roots firmly planted in Buckinghamshire soil. We are proud of our atmosphere, our splendid drinks range and our creative delicious kitchen menu.
The Bell is by far one of the best pubs to experience unique British pub food in Buckinghamshire.
Great lunch with good food and friendly service
This was an extremely disappointing experience, and a considerable embarrassment as it was shared by our guests to whom we had previously said very good things about The Bell. On our several previous visits my wife and I had been impressed by the creative and exciting menu, and the quality of cooking. Last night we arrived to find that the menu had been dumbed down to a predictable range of pub standards (burger, bubble and squeak) and the more interesting dishes had disappeared completely. We now have to contact friends to whom we have raved about The Bell to let them know that they'll want to go elsewhere. Awfully sad. (The service was as friendly and informal as ever).
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, The food in general is of good quality. Having visited this time on a Sunday, my only criticism would be that the food could have been hotter and the menu could have had more choice as options especially for dessert were limited with certain sweets being sold out
Amazing meal, great service and lovely atmosphere. Hands down the best restaurant in the Aylesbury area.
Great food and service. Would highly recommend
Most enjoyable evening. Highlights were the quality of the food and the service. Only couple of negatives were larger pump was flat and noisey children from adjoining party occasionally splling into the restaurant area ... but overall a positive evening.
The four of us had a lovely meal. One of my friends is allergic to nuts and the chef made her a unique pudding, which was excellent. Thank you for the great service and lovely food.
A lovely meal & great service.
Great in all above ways. However the food took a long time to arrive. I know it is freshly cooked etc but we were the only ones eating and it took approx 40 minutes to arrive. Bit too long!
Lovely food with an unusual twist to many items in the menu. Stafff really helpful.
Had lovely food on two previous visits. However popped by for a Sunday roast and on this occasion the food wasn’t as well cooked. The parsnips and carrots were quite tough. Puddings were yummy though and main/pudding portions reasonable overall. Service was friendly and efficient.
The food is fantastic as is the service. You just need tell more people so it is a bit busier. Other than that, I am pleased it is now perfect again.
Service was slow. It took a long time for the food to arrive and then our child's meal was brought out last. Desserts took a long time to come and again a child's scoop of ice cream was last out. Would be better if a scoop if ice cream could be brought out immediately even if the adult ones need to take a bit longer. However the food was delicious as usual and good selection of drinks. Staff were very friendly.
Haven't been for a while, food ok but not as nice as previously. Burger, no pickle, lettuce, tomato or option for bacon/cheese. Child meal chicken gourgons dry, Brownie served on its own had to ask for a scoop of ice cream. Desserts more suited for evening dinner, nothing available like sticky toffee pudding, bread and butter pudding. Menu on line not same as available on the day. Ok but would not be in an hurry to return/
Great food and good service
Nice meal. More veg needed for the sausages and mash.
Superb, as always.
Lovely food, excellent service, I’ve visited several times and standards always high
Friendly service, great roast dinner, fantastic desserts!
I came with 3 friends one who is disabled. We requested a chair with arms and this was waiting for us on arrival. Nicky our waitress was wonderful and very caring. Nicky had also advised us to book for 12.00 so that we could order and be served before a big party arrived.
Would not return or recommend to friends or family, very poor service and food was served luke warm and was tasteless! The staff seemed to be run of their feet with only 3 including manager front of house, but kept forgetting half our order. When asked at the end of our meal and were paying did we enjoy our exeperience, we say no and the waitress just walked off with no apologise and no answers
Just the carrots and parsnips were too al dente all the other food was delicious. A special Mother’s Day menu which incidentally I was not informed about but was nevertheless lovely, plentiful and good value
Slightly limited menu but we all found something we liked the look of and the food was truly excellent. We will definitely be back and wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Bell to friends and family.
Dog friendly, lovely fire, great staff, great people, great food
The new desert menu is terrible a real disappointment. Also the carrots were close to raw.
