About The Bell
Welcome to The Bell in Stoke Mandeville, a classic countryside pub with roots firmly planted in Buckinghamshire soil. We are proud of our atmosphere, our splendid drinks range and our creative delicious kitchen menu.
The Bell is by far one of the best pubs to experience unique British pub food in Buckinghamshire.
Excellent service and as always the food was well cooked and presented
Made a last minute booking for a party of 8 for a wet Sunday lunch, it was fantastic! The food was wonderful and arrived promptly, staff were friendly and welcoming. Couldn't have asked for more. Thank you!
Good food ,friendly staff. Same as always when we visit. Looking forward to the next time. Keep up the good work.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food was great and a huge choice!
Very pleasant evening with efficient friendly service .
Best roast dinner and service we have had for a long time. We will recommend and definitely be back! Delicious and great service - really good with our little girl and very attentive. Food was fab, cooked and presently wonderfully.
We had three waitresses who were all attentive, knowledgeable and cheerful. We were never hurried but never left wondering where they had got to. Food was piping hot, beautifully arranged and tasted as good as it looked. The pea and mint soup was divine. Many thanks to the chef who prepared a special sharing platter for dessert as it was our anniversary. Lovely touch, especially as it was a Saturday evening.
Nice Sunday lunch for 2 in a lovely place with fantastic service. Felt the potion size of meals was small for the money and wine a little overpriced.
great service/and lovely food
Met up with old school friends for dinner, accommodated an extra one no problems, Food was delicious not much hanging around, and were very helpful to one of my friends who is a celiac. Thank you
We booked on line but were not expected as no one had checked the system.
Always enjoy visiting The Bell, never had a bad meal, lovely staff too!
The food was good but the service was not acceptable, despite pre-ordering as requested by the Bell when booking. The bar seemed understaffed? Accepting the fact that 4 of our party arrived 10 minutes late, that domino'd into very long waits between courses and the deserts arriving at 15:45hrs from a 13:40hrs start. Don't wish to complain too much as a party of 16 must be hard to service properly (despite pre-booking/ordering) and the manager did try to make amends. Nonetheless disappointing as this was a family get together from UK & Dubai and the Dubai contingent had to leave before the deserts were served to get back in time. The food was good despite a mix-up misreading the pre-order sheet (a main was not served until everyone else had finished theirs). Everyone's allowed an off day and we will not let this disappointment tarnish previously good experiences but it's unlikely that we will use this place for larger gatherings in future.
We had a lovely meal and the service was excellent. There were two things that we felt were not up to scratch and that was the starter ,deep fried aranchini; there were only three and they were very small, plus when they arrived they were rolling around the plate with very little or no presentation. Did not look inviting. Secondly I had the haddock which had soggy, tough batter. Considering the chips were very crispy and excellent, I would suggest the fish was put to keep warm somewhere while my chips were cooking. Chilli was expensive for what it was and how much you got. Sadly we were there for my daughters birthday and the menu is not one that I would classify as a 'celebration' but more average in terms of variety. It will not stop us coming back to the Bell but it will be a considered visit if we are going to eat and will not be for any special occasion.
This was the first time we had used this pub for lunch at our annual family gathering and the general chatter in the afternoon was about how good it was. The service was perhaps a little slow, but we didn't help ourselves in that respect as we were a little slow off the mark ourselves. The quality of service was excellent and the food likewise and everyone seemed to really enjoy it. I doubt that our ancestor, who was landlord there on the 1911 census, could have done any better! http://woosterfamily.co.uk//FamilyGathering2018.html
Delicious food and very friendly staff. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Will definitely come again
The food was really nice, unfortunately we had to clear our own table as the plates were attracting wasps and no one cleared our table for 25 minutes after we ate. When we told the staff we were clearing our table we didn’t get a response or any assistance, such a shame as the food was lovely.
Slightly disappointed with portion sizes on some of the main courses and choice of desserts wasn't great. The Summer Berry Eton Mess was certainly no value for money. A few flakes of 'meringue' and ice cream hidden in the centre of some slightly warm cream wasn't the best. But overall the quality of food was there and as having a new Chef in place, I can imagine the menu will improve over time. We booked as a group on my recommendation and I still stand by that.
Nice well cooked food in a nice setting.
Excellent food, brilliant service and staff along with a good choice of drinks.
A very pleasant evening, the food was delicious and service fantastic.
Excellent as usual .
Thank you to Josh and the team at the Bell who managed to cope with a party of 25 very admirably the other night. Efficient, timely, all dietary needs catered for and good feedback from us all about the tastiness of food.
The staff are always welcoming and very helpful. The garden is lovely--more comfortable chairs outdoors would make it even better!
Great, friendly service and the the food was delicious.
