About The Beehive, Montpellier
In Cheltenham’s well-heeled ‘village’ of Montpellier, a heart-warming city pub for lovers of real ale and great pub food. A regency building with Victorian features, high ceilings, sash windows and a proper ale house feel. A daily changing bar menu provides locally sourced food for a casual dining experience in the bar downstairs, with excellent Beer Battered Cod and Chips and Gourmet Burgers. Upstairs, known as ‘Cheltenham’s Best Kept Secret’ with its twenty foot ceiling, cast iron chandelier and minstrel gallery. Book a table, order a Timothy Taylor ‘Landlord’ and get chatting to the friendly bar staff who can tell you a lot about the place. Ensure to book a table for the ever so popular Sunday Roasts, serving 12pm – 4pm, or until we sell out.
MAXIMUM BOOKING SIZE: In line with government guidance, we will be taking bookings for a maximum of 6 guests per table. For large booking enquiries, please email [email protected] stipulating the date, time & number of guests you'd like to book for and we will come back to you with further information.
We look forward to seeing you soon and wish you all the best.
The downstairs is so lovely but the upstairs isn’t so nice and so we only stayed for one beer. The lighting and decor could use a little change. Service was lovely though, and Covid rules were well followed by staff.
We sat by the fire and had perfect wine and a perfect pint - the ideal pub for relaxing in a great environment
Great pub away from the crowds. Staff charming. Portions big. Unfortunately the heating was broken so we did feel very cold. Hopefully this will get fixed soon.
Best toad in the hole bloody lovely
Very disappointed with food! Two of us was ill during the night! Waitress was very nice and helpful! Wouldn’t eat here again or recommend to others! Sorry guys just not up to scratch.
A lovely experience. We booked for sunday lunch fairly last minute. They were very organised with their COVID rules, which is always good. They were playing music, which really helps with atmosphere due to it being half empty. It wasnt too loud either. The food was good, flavoursome meat and a good temperature. I wasn't a fan of the way the veg was cooked but that's personal preference. The dessert was also lovely and a reasonable price; I had the torte. Overall a lovely experience.
Huge portions but terrible food. Sure a lot of it was microwaved and not cooked fresh or even in house. Beer tasted like the bottom of the barrel, maybe this was just bad luck. Unlikely to try my luck again.
Great service , super food, can't wait until we can sit at the bar with a paper again.......
Very slow service initially and looked like they hadn’t planned how to work through booking people in and then taking orders. Great pub overall and good location
Slow, indifferent, service accompanied by a lackluster, attempt at a Sunday Roast. Wouldn't return as plenty of much better local aternatives available.
Outstanding Covid practices. Impressive. Food & drink not bad either. Super evening.
We attended your pub on Saturday night, i can say it without a doubt the worst dining experience i have ever had in my life!!! We arrived on time and were taken to a dark, cold and dingy room “The Mucky Corner?”. The young girl sat us at a Table with a great view of the Gents Toilet with its Door propped open by a filthy Mop and Bucket. We sat for 15 minutes before anyone noticed us, I asked to move tables as the view was unacceptable, we moved to another Table within this Room. We then ordered drinks and on receiving those, we also received food menus. We ordered our food , which arrived 20 minutes later, I ordered the Steak and Ale Pie with Chips and Garden Peas, my Wife ordered Local Ham, Eggs, Chips and Peas. The food was truly awful, the Frozen Chips soggy, the peas overcooked bullets, a cheap Pie topped with what looked like Gravy granules stirred in to boiling water. The Chips and Peas on the other meal were exactly the same and the Ham looked a thick cooked Gammon Steak. If I had the title of Chef and had served that excuse for a meal....I would be ashamed and the owners should also be ashamed!!! We left a good 70% of our food, one of your Female members of Staff came and took the plates with all the food still on them and never even asked why we had left so much!! The room we sat in was now very dark and we had finished our meals!! One of the staff said why are you sitting in the dark and promptly switched the lights on! At 10:15ish the local tribe of 18 year old descended on the Pub..shouting swearing and not giving any thought to other patrons. Covid 19 prevention and social distancing was non existent in the Pub. Rather than complaining about the service and food... I chose to pay and left. We had come to Cheltenham for the weekend and booked the meal via your very splendid website...which in reality is a fantasy compared to the reality..Top marks to your web designer! I assume in order to submit this review you have to give ratings...I have given you a 1 star ratting...but in reality you don’t even deserve that! In Summarry Staff....Very poor and no social skills Food... The worst I’ve ever had.. Cleanliness...Way below average Overall...The worst dining experience i have ever had.....which also ruined our weekend!!!
Sweet back street pub with selection of Ales. The pub food was nothing to write home about which was a pity. Would benefit from some beehive specials or link it’s produce to its name and local source. A few extra finishing touches would be great such as a tidy storage area to house used pins and some flowers/plants would make the courtyard space more attractive - outside heaters & an under cover seating area would be a great edition.
Lovely drinks and food atmosphere. Could have done with more staff as table service only and we left as we couldn't get attention for a last drink.
Outstanding service from every member of staff. Delicious food. We really loved this pub.
Excellent Sunday lunch
Booked a table due to the current situation. Upon arrival we were told a blunt ‘we’re full mate’ with no initial enquiry about having booked a table. We were told they’d try to find a table for us.....which they did fairly doing the table had been cleaned but was soaking wet. Stayed an hour as it wasn’t a great atmosphere in there. As frosty as the staff actually. Won’t ever go back and would definitely not recommend.
Lovely meal & Friendly staff.
Lovely eve. Fab pie and mash on a rainy eve and lush cheesecake
Great service and food, very clean and Covid safe dining experience, a hidden gem in Cheltenham
Arrived early evening weekend, the pub was not very busy and therefore was able to get a table outside, after ordering drinks for our party went into the toilets and o'dear not a good look, only one hand dryer which was not operating well, cutting out so therefore went back to table with wet hands. Husband also said that the Gent's toilet were not to special either. We had already booked the meal with yourselves so therefore did not want to cancel at this late stage.
Excellent food and service, we will definitely be going back. Highly recommended.
