About The Baths
The Clontarf Baths and Assembly Rooms, as it was known, opened circa 1886 and featured a large, tidal, seawater swimming pool that juts out from the promenade wall into the bay. It closed in 1996, 110 years after it opened. The Baths is now owned by a Dublin family who have lovingly refurbished the baths and built this unique restaurant out front.
We aim to be an inviting, lively and vibrant meeting point of Clontarf.
Join us for a family-style, high quality, but a bit daring, food, beer and cocktails. The Baths is a historic location with scenic atmosphere. We are witty, playful and bold way with a touch of classic Dublin. At The Baths, you should feel just as comfortable here for casual & relaxed dinner as you are in suits & sequins.
Service was much improved compared to some previous visits
Food was really lovely and the atmosphere great. My only negative comment is that the waiting staff tried to take our plates away three times before we were actually finished our main course! Everything else about our visit was top notch!
Initially we were given a table directly in front of main door which was drafty and unpleasant. Our waiter went to great lengths to move us to somewhere where we could really enjoy our meal! The menu is limited but good but if not mixed up every couple of weeks I couldn’t see myself going there very regularly as you would exhaust your options fairly quickly.
Lovely place. Please open pool area though it would be fantastic
Such a lovely restaurant with fab decor and super professional staff. The Chicken wings were just perfect!
Had my daughters confirmation party in the garden room it’s fab staff couldn’t have done enough was so nice defo recommend it 🙌🙌🙌
Menu wasn't good. Food was better than I thought it would be given the menu. Wine list was poor. Felt like a primarily family friendly restaurant
We were a large group, we loved the area (upstairs) we had and the service was great.
I booked The Baths for a nostalgic family celebration. We all swam at The Clontarf Baths when we were young children and we were delighted with what had been done with them and enjoyed ourselves immensely. Very attractive venue.
Had a fantastic lunch with a friend yesterday @12.30, food was delicious. Only downside was my table was opposite main entrance and my legs were cold from the draught. I asked the person at the coffee machine if there were any blankets from outdoor area I could use, she looked very surprised as if this was a strange request and said no we don't have blankets.
Enjoyed brunch here last Sunday which was pleasant and my second time dining here in the last year. The first was for dinner last September which was also an enjoyable evening. The only negative is finding suitable parking at the venue which can be very challenging.
Food was ok but very overpriced. Service was shockingly bad. Had to ask for menus twice and waited so long for the bill we ended up going to the counter to pay. Disappointing
Stunning decor throughout, sorry to have to say very dissatisfying meal & service. Cold goats cheese tart, tiny simple Caesar salad. Followed by moules frites and aubergine bake which unfortunately lacked flavour or imagination. Creme brûlée was poor & curdled. The wine was excellent & well priced. Beautiful setting but service was so bad, when we eventually got to speak with the waiter / manager he half apologised and said they were under pressure, but he gave the distinct impression he didn’t care. He also advised me to put my comments on Trip Advisor, which was very smart & not at all professional. Both left feeling hungry and very disappointed. Please feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss further. I have never taken the time to write comments before but feel it’s such a shame as it’s an absolutely beautiful setting and restaurant in Clontarf. This was not out first visit.
Excellent service, excellent quality of food.
Loooved this place the decor is fab! Food was yummmm! I had the eggs Benedict which were lovely! Only thing bacon was a little dry. Also had a mocktail called “driving home” which was delicious but seriously expensive for €8 hence why I only gave 2 stars for value for money!
We were served by Catherine...such a lovely girl and excellent service! We were pleasantly surprised the earlybird menu was available on a Saturday and 2 of us availed of it. We had soup, smokies, mussels, fries, caeser, wings, pizzas, aubergine dish and various desserts. All very good!
We had a wonderful experience and our table server Catherine was so nice and really looked after us. We were a large party at a busy time and never felt rushed. Everyone enjoyed their experience and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend again.
Staff walked by on many occasions ignoring our empty glasses. More attention from staff needed. I ordered a cocktail and it was placed out of reach by a waiter who looked bored and totally uninterested.
Really enjoyed it , food was very tasty and atmosphere was brilliant . Price was also very good . I will be back soon
Lady from hungry very good. Male waiter not friendly
I felt that maybe the menu could include more fresh seafood rather than deep fried. Also maybe a hummus or pate starter. Specials of the night might also be an idea.
Lovely setting, nice atmosphere but very disappointed with the food. Ordered from the early bird, my starter ( tart) was sitting in a puddle, not sure if it was the dressing or from the onions and goats cheese was runny, very strange. And aubergine to follow lacked any flavour. On a positive note the sweet potato fries were delicious. I rarely leave reviews but I would like to see the Baths do well, so hoping this will lead to improved vegetarian options.
Really poor service which was frustrating as only a few tables occupied and overall restaurant was not busy. Not sure if we would go back if service isn’t improved. Very difficult to get anyone’s attention at various stages of the meal. We’re Left with empty plates for 45mins after everyone at the table had finished dessert With no waiter approaching the table throughout this time. Had to go up to the host to ask for the bill as we could not get anyone’s attention for all that time. Disappointing end to a meal.
We had our son's communion party at The Baths on Sat 11th May & it was fabulous!! Everything from booking to tweaking the menu & private area went smoothly! Oksana & Florin & team were extremely accommodating & friendly. The atmosphere is great & venue is amazing!! Thanks to all for making our special occasion so memorable & happy!! We will most certainly be back!!
