About The Baths
The Clontarf Baths and Assembly Rooms, as it was known, opened circa 1886 and featured a large, tidal, seawater swimming pool that juts out from the promenade wall into the bay. It closed in 1996, 110 years after it opened. The Baths is now owned by a Dublin family who is lovingly refurbishing the baths and built the unique restaurant and bar out front.
We aim to be an inviting, lively and vibrant meeting point of Clontarf. Come for a coffee and stay for family-style, high quality, but a bit daring, food & beer and cocktails. The Baths is a historic location with scenic atmosphere. We are witty, playful and bold way with a touch of classic Dublin. At The Baths, you should feel just as comfortable here for casual & relaxed dinner as you are in suits & sequins.
Fabulous refurbishment . Had a great breakfast - our young waitress was lovely though the guy in the blue chef-type jacket who seemed to be doing food runner, needs an attitude check !! Very pleasant morning and great to see the new reincarnation - hope it does well
The only reason I’m giving the service a 2 is because on arrival we were told the table would be required by a certain time leaving us only 1 hour to sit, review menu, order food for 4 ppl, eat and pay. Our drinks were delayed due to an espresso machine having many orders (delay 1), our food only arrived with 20mins left on the “clock” tea got cold while waiting for food, as thought order of food would be quicker and being told there’s a delay at tea coffee station we thought we should order it earlier. There was such emphasis on time and getting in and out and delay with food that it was quite stressful, I could’ve rather cooked all that at home without the stress. No-one goes out to eat expecting stress / rushing - it’s not a drive through / take-away / it’s a restaurant.
Great brunch - really enjoyed it, gorgeous fitout, fab food and really child friendly. My only comment is they should serve food out where it’s coffee only and outdoors... the best view is not being utilized.... I will definitely be back!
We had a very enjoyable meal and we had excellent service. However as swimmers wr are very disappointed ghat the pool has not been opened to either clubs or the public. The bar licence was granted by the President of the Circout Court Judge Raymond Groarkr on the promise that you would comply with planning approval which required the facility of a public swimming pool.
amazing place, food nice but pricey
I was disappointed with my visit as I found resterant to be chilly on a warm evening. My starter of fish chowder was lacking fish substance of fish and was more like a cream vegetable soup and was cool in tasting! Prices are high and food didn't reflect it in taste! Deco is very beautiful and staff are excellent! I may return soon and hope things will have improved!
Fish skillet was amazing 2nd visit will be back again
Great place lovely atmosphere but food was not great and way over priced!
We had a lovely evening. Great to see the place doing so well. Fantastic addition to Clontarf
Beautiful setting, decor, and athmosphere. The service was good and so was the food. However I would avoid the chowder as my husband ordered it and nearly choked on several large bones. The incident was reported to the waiter who seemed largely unperturbed.Nobody approached us to ask us how we were enjoying our meal which was strange. Apart from that it was a most enjoyable evening and the restaurant a nice addition to the Clontarf area.
My starter was €15 for 3 prawns. By any standard that's poor value also €13.50 for a large glass of wine is excessive. Other than that, the food was quite nice and the staff were very friendly.
We had a wonderful evening for a family birthday, food was served quick & very tasty. Waitress and manager were very helpful & attentive just when we needed it. We’ll definitely be back
Had not heard good reviews so was apprehensive. The waiter Darragh was fantastic, very effecient and friendly couldnt praise him enough. Ab fab decor, great outdoor area, use to go there as a kid and can not believe the transformation. Well done, congrats and good luck!
Thank you, for our first visit we had a very enjoyable pleasant meal. Our server was very friendly, helpful and attentive. The food was very tasty and presented well. Will visit again in the future and have recommeded venue to friends.
Great for our group to meet up. Fab views in every direction.
Fish and chips was poorly presented on plate, looked very messy. Chips were very over cooked and fish was also over cooked, not worth the price. We had to send back veg and mash as they were cold also.
Just a bit disappointed with the onions on my pizza when on the menu there are no mention of onions on the Dublin Coddle pizza whatsoever.
Relaxed and great for kids - staff and service excellent
Beautiful setting, not a great selection of food on the menu for main courses. Food was just ok for the price. Lovley staff.
It was great and the space and relaxed yet professional atmosphere was perfect. I had recommended within 5 minutes of leaving. We will be back
Love the space! Such friendly service too. Great for all the family.
My group felt the service was a bit slow and the portions a bit small. Loved the decor and setting though!
The Baths should be very proud of their staff absolutely amazing people they made the 30th I booked very memorable. The food was fantastic so delicious and the venue is fantastic. I got some fabulous photos at the event. Beautiful place. Thank you so much!
Very strange service. Quite inattentive. Would strike me that they are not really very experienced or well trained. Sat by myself waiting for friends, was not offered water, was given wine list but didn't even realise there was a cocktail list! once my first friend arrived, Constantly asked if they could take order even though we made it clear that we were waiting for a third. When we did order, all food arrived with each course on top of each other, pre-starter half finished when starter arrived, main arrived before we were finished starter. Atmosphere was nice. Architecture fab and view amazing. Food : Bread was dull enough. Not 100% fresh I'd say. Oysters were very good, star of teh evening. Chowder was very meh. wide place with about a half-centimetre of chowder in the bottom. Meant it was cold. Nice enough amount of fish, but extremely expensive at 10 for what you got. Main course salad dull and expensive. We didn't go for desert. Overall, worth trying once. Not sure I'd go again, neither the service nor the food warrants the expense.
