About The Barn At Lichfield
80 seater restaurant, divided in 4 areas.
Terrible meal on Sunday was looking forward to the Sunday roast, me and my husband had the beef it was awful was cooked rare and really fatty it was that bad I couldn’t eat mine. For £14 for a roast dinner you expect the works was a big disgusted they even charged us for mine, they did offer me free dessert which was less than half the price my meal. Another couple also complained about the meat and they were offered to come back in the week for a free meal, no offer of this to us. When the bill came they had even charged us for the dessert 🙄🤦♀️ The service was really slow considering it wasn’t busy at all can see can see why, won’t be coming back!!
Great food, service and atmosphere
Pleasant atmosphere but we waited too long to order the mains and over 30 minutes passed between having the pudding menu given to us before anyone asked us for our order. By this time we were ready to leave so unfortunately went without 😞
The food was all extremely salty. Every dish we ordered (one starter and three mains) the overriding taste was salt. Chips and sides over salted. I couldn’t finish my burger or fries because of the amount of salt on them/used to cook them. The steaks, however, were beautiful! Just too much salt overall. Service was great, drinks were nice, atmosphere was also fab!
Very friendly staff good food. Not sure about the need for a DJ
Great food and atmosphere
Our waitresses were very pleasant however the service was very slow. Out of our 4 meals, of which one was a child's meal, the beef was grisly and fatty, the lamb was average. The child meal and the Jake were very good. Overall the value for money was average as we also had to ask when our food was coming, We had to ask for cutlery for the vegetables.
The staff noticed my friend say that we were having a bottle of wine for my birthday and they bought us a lovely happy birthday in chocolate and strawberries! Very lovely surprise. Staff were friendly and efficient and the food was delicious!
Lovely restaurant and waiting staff were very pleasant but food mediocre and over priced and very bad service. Waited at least 45 minutes for luke warm food. A number of dishes were off the menu, certainly lamb was and one other dish and two sweets weren’t available either. We won’t be returning or recommending I’m afraid.
I really enjoyed my first trip to The Barn, I would definitely return
The fish I believe was undercooked and the only thing acceptable regarding the two beef dinners was the meat. Roasted potatoes were warmed up, leftovers and Yorkie pud was cheap & frozen. Cauliflower cheese was an inedible bowl stodge. The waitress admitting the kitchen was having problems however it may have been a better idea to stop serving food & perhaps save their reputation. May visit this pub as it had a lovely beer garden however will not be eating there again.
We booked a table for 8pm sat down and ordered for 8:15pm. We didn’t get out food, until 9:15pm we had only ordered a main meal, didn’t seem busy at all, Waitrose was lovely and really apologetic but poor that we have to wait an hour for a salad and a curry.
Left early. Too hot. Need air conditioning. Food only average. We had different salads - salads at the Wayfarer in Stone far better. Suggest you go sample. Baked camembert ok - bread uninspired - suggest oiled and lightly griddled ciabatta
I visited The Barn last night with two friends. The service was appallingly bad with us waiting over 20 minutes for drinks and over 40 minutes for food. The table next to us arrived after us and had both food and drinks delivered before us - when we asked why, we were told that they had “ordered more straight forward meals” - we were waiting on a steak dish, pasta dish and a fish dish. When it did arrive, the fish dish was highly praised, the steak average (despite being served with bearnaise sauce, not the peppercorn as ordered) and the pasta was bland and unseasoned. We told the waitress that we daren’t return them as we couldn’t wait another 40 minutes for them!! We agreed that our waitress was good but we will not be rushing back. As a central restaurant to all of us, it’s a shame. As my recommendation, it’s also a let down and somewhat embarrassing.
All the staff were absolutely fantastic and made us feel that no request we made was any trouble at all. The service was fantastic and all our guests loved the venue. Carly and the team did a fantastic job changing the room around 3 times and did it exactly as we had spoken about. We were able to totally relax and not worry about anything as it was all taken care of. An extra special mention to Carly as she was brilliant both on the day, the weeks beforehand (and the day after when she found lost items and kept them safe for us). Can’t wait to visit again in the near future!!
Fantastic food and atmosphere waitress was very helpful and accomodating will definitely return
Food was very poor and not to a good standard - chips and Sunday dinners had clearly been microwaved as meat was luke warm and chewy and yorkhire pudding was inedible (we had even been told by staff that other guests had made the same complaints) - some staff also looked very unprofessional walking around with mobile phones in their back pockets, visible to the public!
We had a table booked for 5.30 and arrived slightly early. We were told to grab a drink at the bar and we’d be shown to our table in 10mins. We assumed the table was being prepared and as soon as was ready we’d be seated. At 6 o’clock I went back to the desk to complain and was asked if I’d like to be seated now!?!?!?! I reiterated the initial conversation but it seemed to fall on deaf ears. Anyway once seated the food was wonderful and we all enjoyed it and will be returning at some point however the first part of the visit has left a slight sour taste in the mouth.
Lovely place and good menu (pudding is great) but service has been really slow each time we have been.
The low scores are because I ordered for my main course a Caesar Salad with Chicken. This was without doubt the worst Salad I have ever been served. The dish / bowl contained 1 lettuce variety & a small whole piece of chicken placed on top. For £11 this did not provide value for money, overall it was unappetising to look at and tasted awful.
Good Sunday roast - friendly staff
Lovely venue - good food and service
A little disappointing although the service staff were very friendly and polite the service was quite slow, there were not enough staff to cope with the demand , the kitchen appeared to under the same pressure, we have eaten here before and thoroughly enjoyed the food, but elements of our food on Saturday had obviously been cooked and served in a rush, our starter was swimming in oil, and although we complained to the staff who apologised they did nothing about it, also the steak was very under cooked, something that we don't usually mind but the steak was poor and consequently quite tough. the venue is lovely and it is a shame.
Lovely food, seasonal ingredients and very accommodating for special dietary requirements
We’d been to the Barn last year and received really poor service although the food was good. We decided to give it another try yesterday and I’m really sorry to say both the food and service were awful. The inside of the restaurant was empty when we arrived apart from a couple of drinkers at the bar. No pleasantries from the waiting staff, just took our drinks order and returned with the drinks and walked off without saying anything, not even asking if we were ready to order (yes, with two children under age 5 we were) or explaining that somebody would be along to take the food order. The food order was finally taken and arrived 30 minutes later (45 minutes after we’d arrived to an empty restaurant). Food was really poor, steak was tasteless and came with chunky, triple cooked chips rather than the fries advertised on the menu. Didn’t realise this when somebody came over to ask if everything was okay so not mentioned at the time. We eat out regularly and don’t mind paying £70 for a good meal. However when the service, food and atmosphere is poor then it’s infuriating. We’re disapoointed that we decided to give The Barn another chance and won’t be doing so in future.
