About JAMES ST BELFAST
James St. is the coming together of two of Belfast’s best restaurants, James Street South Restaurant and The Bar and Grill at James St.The new offering is the best of the Bar and Grill's menu with a few light touches to the fine cooking of James Street South.
Classic dishes are firmly established on the menu from the crab and chilli linguine, Dundrum crab used on toast, alongside classic bistro dishes such as farmhouse terrine, fruit de mer plates available from Thursday. The charcoal grill still plays centre stage, cooking not just some of the best steaks and prime cuts Northern Ireland has to offer but also fresh whole fish, pork and vegetables.
With a larger, more established bar area, a large range of wines are available alongside a considered spirit list and an extensive whisky offering. Locally produced beer, cider and gins take pride of place on the drinks menu.
Owned by Niall McKenna since 2003 the revamped James St. will offer locals and tourists a great dining experience in a Belfast city centre.
The restaurant team is headed up by Paul McGovern as Restaurant Manager.
We are located minutes walk away from the Europa Hotel, The Crown Bar and the City Hall.
Favourite restaurant. Great food and service
Excellent food and service.
Had the most amazing food and customer service during a private dining event for a special family celebration. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and made a special occasion unforgettable. Thank you!
Fantastic meal and service in Belfasts best restaurant.
Always a great atmosphere and the service is excellent! Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will be back again.
Linguine for starter was amazing , would be luvly as a main course, wines accompanied with dinner chateau brriannd were beautiful and husband couldn't stop talking about his desert apple crumble souffle, :)
Excellent as always. Great service, food and drinks. Will be back and highly recommend as always.
Why email me 30 minutes before the time of my booking to announce a 15 minute postponement? i.e. 1pm to 1:15pm
Excellent night. Speedy service and great food for a big group of people. Many thanks Alyson
Really enjoyable experience. Great location and ambience and fantastic food. Very professional staff as well.
Knife not sharp enough to cut pheasant
Absolutely fabulous meal, service and drinks as always!
Two great evenings here with work in the same week. Great food, atmosphere and staff. Couldn't be better. Thank you.
Excellent Service, atmosphere and food. Great selection of wines. I have visited a couple of times and the steaks are some of the best I have tasted!
Over all we had a satisfactory meal, but a few hiccups. Firstly, I ordered the prawn and salmon cocktail for starter, but the intestinal tracts had been left in several of my prawns which was off putting. During our main, a waiter lifted my wine glass off the table and walked away meaning I had to chase him down the restaurant to ask for it back as I was far from finished. Then for desert we shared the sticky toffee and honeycomb sundae which was beautiful, but half way through I crunched down on something hard which almost broke my tooth. I showed the manager who asked the chef - apparently it was the stone of a date which wasn’t meant to be there as they apparently buy they’re dates in with no stones. Despite all this, we weren’t offered any apology and had to foot the very pricey bill. I won’t be rushing back unfortunately.
Super attentive staff, lovely relaxed vibe. We were there with a voucher that had expired but having spoken to Alex previously about the circumstances she graciously extended it for us and we are so grateful she did. We ended up having a really lovely evening after a very tough time. Thank you so much.
Everything was perfect will be back soon
Excellent brunch, (as always) at James St. Great food, atmosphere and friendly, knowledgeable staff .Always a warm welcome at James St.
Food was just amazing, excellent choice off wines, beers and spirits. The staff are so friendly and helpful and make customer satisfaction their priority. We had a great evening in your restaurant and will definitely visit you again.
FANTASTIC!!! My favourite restaurant in Belfast. Amazing food friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere. Incredible food without stuffyness!
I had a great dinner here, the apple crumble souffle is possibly one of the best desserts I've ever had! Can't wait to come back again. The service was also excellent, attentive refilling our glasses with wine and water, but not making us feel rushed to order or to leave though the restaurant was busy
Great service, great food and great place! Had a lovely evening and meal on Saturday night and will be back soon to James St South! A top class restaurant from front door to back!
Went here for my birthday, had a lovely welcome and showed to our table. Couldn’t decide on wine, our waitress Yvonne was extremely helpful took the time to explain what was best with the food on the menu. We had been before so Champ and Guinness bread was a must, it’s worth going just for the bread! We both had steaks cooked to perfection one with champ and other with truffle fries and bacon and cheese cabbage side. I don’t normally do dessert but Yvonne the waitress highly recommended the soufflé and she was right, it was out of this world, my wife had baked Alaska and it was equally as good. Food was all divine, credit to the kitchen and we can’t wait to return, staff were very attentive and particularly Yvonne who made our experience exceptional and is a credit to the restaurant.
