1st visit to James St. south Bar and Grill, very welcoming friendly staff on hand and enjoyable meal
Not the first time my wife and I have been to the bar and grill and certainly won’t be the last! Looking forward to the revamp
Very good service. Friendly staff.
The Staff were excellent and made us feel welcome and valued , a real credit. I travel for work a lot and eat out often ( uk & Europe) and can say that the food at James Street South was second to none.
excellent food, armosphere and service
Disappointed that there was no ROAST BEEF as I was not hungry enough to eat a steak.
The reason you lost a star was putting the service charge on the bill. I have always felt the tip is mine to give, not yours to take. A tip is only given when the customer receives excellent service. I have never been in the bar & grlll and not received excellent service nor exceptional food, but the meal felt cheapened by you telling me what the tip should be. This I would expect in a Deans establishment not in a restaurant such as yours. James Street South is better than this. Please remember the tip is the customers to give.
Probably being a philistine chowder lovely but a chunk of bread wouldn't go amiss
This restaurant never fails to impress, the service is excellent and food even better. Highly recommended!
Food was excellent!
It was a very busy evening on Friday and as a result we had a bit of a wait for our table after our booked time of 7pm. However we had a beautiful meal and a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
Excellent food and great value for money!
Nice restaurant-very tasty food -friendly professional staff-a bit noisy
I continue to enjoy dining at the Bar and Grill. It is s great venue for hosting clients with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Great atmosphere with broad age group, friendly professional service and absolutely great food. I am keen to eat here again in the very near future.
Great cocktails in busy restaurant serving tasty menu.
We enjoy eating here
There is something about the Bar and Grill which I just love...i love the atmopshere, the feel of the place and normally the staff make me feel very welcome and get involved in a bit of banter! Northern Irish style hospitality i call it...however on Wednesday i went with someone who'd not been there before and he made me challenge my thinking! So here are our collective views: ~ the waitress was 'cold' to start with, no smiles, no chat she did 'warm' up, but i feel should have made us much more welcome, smiled so much more and been more chatty. ~ the chips were a bit greasy. Only 2 negatives but as you know...a reputtaion is very hard to achieve and may take years! it can however be lost in a moment.
I've eaten here several times and never been disappointed.
Such a disappointment. Starters (prawn cocktail, chilli calamari) - delicious.... Sunday roast - good but Yorkshire pudding so over cooked. Rump steak - uncooked and cold on inside - on return, a little less raw but so tough it was inedible.First and last visit. 😩
Visited The Bar & Grill after reading some good reviews online. I had the Sunday Roast which was not only delicious but also very reasonably priced and the apple crumble was the best I've ever had. Will most certainly be back.
An excellent restaurant. We had hired the private dinning room above the bar & grill for a suprise birthday dinner. Maire-Clare was looking after our booking and couldn't have been more helpful. She ensured everything was covered for the night and gave great advice on what she thought would work for us. Nothing was too much to ask. On the night Richard & Nicole were looking after our party and the service we received was second to none. Many thanks to both Richard and Nicole for ensuring the drinks were flowing and meeting all our requests on the night, it was very much appreciated. The food in James street south was fantastic. The set menu for the bar & grill private dining met everyone's tastes. Although we were a party of 21 all our meals arrived together and the food was piping hot. It really was a beautiful meal and everyone commented on how good the food was. Many thanks to all those in the kitchen who made it happen!! We were absolutely delighted with our night in James Street South and I couldn't fault any aspects of our experience. It is a lovely venue and we will definitely be returning again soon. Well done to all the team, Anna & Family.
Delicious food...but tables very close together! Service good but didn't like the fact the tip was in the bill even when there were only two of us!
