About The Bank House Inn
Nestled in the village of Hixon in rural Staffordshire, The Bank House Inn has recently been refurbished but hasn’t lost the charm of a cosy village pub, with low oak ceilings and log burning stoves. We serve great cask ale and a fantastic range of gins, wine by the glass and wonderful coffee roasted here in the village of Hixon.
First time we ate at Wat Wok and for me my meal was nice. They were very accommodating in that I don’t really like Thai food, but I do like noodles & beansprouts so had a concoction made up of those with added chicken & almost a sweet & Sour sauce added. My hubby on the other hand was disappointed with his food he had a Thai curry with coconut in it (not sure what it was called) to me it looked like the cream had split and didn’t look fantastic, he said that it wasn’t as tasty as what I had to eat. We both agreed though that the spring roll starter was lovely, but dripping in grease, light and had lovely flavours. I don’t think that we would return as the Chinese in the village is in our opinion overall better apart from the spring rolls. I did also appreciate that they went over and above with my concocted meal that was in no way part of the menu.

The Wat Wok food is simply amazing. It's a shame the the Lewis Partnership put the lease for sale, but the positive benefit to that is that Wat Wok pop up kitchen have been able to make use of the kitchen on Friday and Saturday. It's stunning food. Plus, the staff at the pub are friendly, attentive and professional. The only downside, and it's only a small niggle, the price of the beer seems higher than other pubs. But it's well kept and I've never had a bad pint there. It was the only pub in the village I'd use, following the closure of the Green Man, it's now the only pub in the village. But it's a great place none the less. But you really must try that Wat Wok food........

Compliments to the Cambodian Chef; she delivered authentic Asian food which was amazingly tasty!
Food was delicious and service from the kitchen was great. Bar service was quite slow, twice we had to get up from the table to go and find out where our drinks order was. However, we had a great evening and would definitely go back.
The Thai food at this pub is amazing totally authentic by a great cook and staff well worth a visit.
Excellent Menu, large party of 10 meant some dishes could have been warmer. However very enjoyable and will be back for more.

First time visit. Loved the cosy bar and modern, comfortable dining area. Visited for Wat Wok as have tried their food before and tonight did not disappoint. Very tasty food and great to be able to sit and eat a Thai meal freshly cooked. Definitely returning and taking more people with me.

Had Sunday lunch which was lovely. Food was well presented, very tasty and plenty of it. Such a shame that this is the last service. Lovely village pub, in good location with fabulous staff, shame it has now stopped food completely. Will be a major loss to the village.

Hello, I really like the dining room at the Bank House, particularly in the daylight hours because of the relatively spacious layout, comfortable seating and light aspect. It is a place where you can have a proper conversation with your friends. On this occasion it was my birthday and I had set my heart on one of your pizzas. Unfortunately, the weather had been cold and wet, so that the pizza oven was not ready for lunchtime. This was a disappointment, but understandable. We ate from the fixed price menu, which was good food and good value.
Starter - fish platter. Food bland. Odd to have pitta bread there. Whitebait fish horrid. Main course - steak ok, a bit grissly. Chips nice. Friend had anchovy’s with her chicken ceaser salad? Odd combo Desert - Eton mess, far too much cream and not enough meringue
Came for Sunday dinner. Welcomed well and shown through to table. Order was slow to be taken and then again food very slow to come out considering they weren’t full! Food was nice but I had fish and chips and it wasn’t anything spectacular after having some really lovely food here before.
The service was good, always with a smile. Unfortunately the food was very average and not worth the money. I thought it was poor value for money and will not be booking a Sunday lunch again.
We have been going to the Bankhouse since the Lewis Partnership took over 1-2 times a week for food and drinks. Never had a problem until this occasion and today 8/9/2019. More importantly today. The service is second to none and the venue is lovely. I’m afraid the new chef really needs to sort the food he is giving to customers. My wife and I had a half and half roast dinner. Presentation looked great but the roast beef was very rare and cold. We weren’t asked what our preferences were and have ordered this dish many times. The beef has always been lovely and a little pink. The worst part of the meal was the potatoes. They looked like they had been cooked really well in the oven. In reality, they had been deep fried and had not been drained. My wife used two napkins to drain the fat off one of them. Without realising this, I bit into a small one which resulted in the back of my throat immediately being swamped with hot oil. It was absolutely disgusting. To top it off, my daughter who is 11 commented as to why her burger bap and chips were covered in blood. I cut her burger in half, the meat was raw in the middle and cold. Really, giving potential ecoli to an 11 year old, really not cool. To be fair, the staff handled it really well. It’s really put us off going back there again for food unless there is a change of chef. It’s a shame really.
