About The Baby Grand
The Baby Grand is a well known and respected Glasgow restaurant and piano bar, often referred to as a Glasgow institution due to its excellent reputation spanning over the past 30 years. This classic piano bar and eatery is often compared with the renowned Bradley’s Jazz Bar – New York – due to its similar friendly ambience, delicious food and dedication to keeping classic jazz alive.
This well hidden Glasgow gem sits across from Charing Cross railway station and is ideally located for The Kings Theatre (less than 5-minute walk away). There is a reasonably priced carpark located behind the train station and the newly opened Scottish Hydro can be walked to in under 20 minutes.
Great place to go before a gig or the theatre.
Wonderful food, superb staff who were extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. A lovely restaurant for lunch.
Really nice place for a meal with the Magnificent Mitchell Library as a backdrop
The young man who initially served us was brilliant. We ordered the fritters and another starter, the other starter was to come with apple sauce instead it was on my starter plate. We both then ordered the steak, mine was amazing but my boyfriend had to stop eating his, with most of it left on his plate, no one asked during our main course if everything was alright, then the young girl clearing the plates didn’t ask either- just are you finished. I was so looking forward to going and regrettably it was quite disappointing.
Great value Pre-Theatre menu! Wide choice of dishes. Selection of wines of good quality, and also fairly priced. Good service - nice atmosphere.
Food was delicious again!
My main meal was disappointing. A sea bass dish. Fish was fine. Veg had a burnt taste. The sticky rice tasted like boil in the bag rice. And I could barely make out the flavour of the ginger infused sauce. It was unpleasant. Waitress asked if everything was okay. I said no .. explained what I felt was wrong. She asked if I wanted to choose another meal. I said no but the added that I might have a dessert instead. My partner finished his meal and we weren't approached again by waiting staff. No dessert menu. No one asked if we wanted coffee. No one cleared away my partner's empty plate. We eventually just asked for the bill which was brought by a different waiter. Cost of my meal was deducted from the bill. Pleased it was but I wasn't told It would be and the waiter bringing the bill knew nothing about it. Not that waiter's fault but all in all a really disappointing evening. Food awful and service just as bad. I wouldn't recommend it and I'll never eat there again.
Good value as a pre-theatre venue.
Will definitely be back. Great value for money and the food was great.
Good atmosphere, good food, good service. The directions link from the website, however, takes you to completely the wrong place - Uddingston - so you'll never get there to enjoy it!
Friendly service, lovely place and the food is great too. Would highly recommend visiting here for a cosy lunch.
Thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Interesting pre-theatre menu, rather than just the usual suspects ... food was lovely. Service was efficient and friendly and we did enjoy the live music.
Hadn’t been for some time and had forgotten how much I like this place and the staff were very friendly and interactive. Bravo
any comments or feedback
Excellent as usual. Hadn’t been for a while and really liked the newly extended restaurant.
Rather noisy and cramped for dinner. Booked for dinner before going to theatre at 6pm. Pre theatre menu all 3 of us opted for rotisserie chicken. WAitress came back to say only 1 portion left. Only option was fish, vegetarian option or pay £4 supplement for steak. Opted for fish. When it came it wasn’t the biggest slice of fish and was left still feeling hungry. The rotisserie chicken however was moist, tasty and a decent portion. Felt disappointed that on a Wednesday night full pre theatre options not available. Because of this wouldn’t return.
A great place for food. Good value for money with a relaxed atmosphere.
Good restaurant decent food not convinced about the vegetables with my chicken though. Only reason I wouldn’t give it 5 stars.
Very enjoyable meal in relaxing surroundings, ideally located for a trip to the Kings Theatre.
Pre pantomime breakfast excellent, food delicious, service exemplary
Had forgotten how much I love this place!! And love the new look. Thank you.
Arrived at 5:30 for table booked online for 4 only to be told no record of reservation ! then told yes they found it . Ordered drinks and meals from festive menu by 17:45. On reservation confirmation it stated table to be back by 19:00 which suited us as Panto started at 19:00hrs. By 18:30 still no starters, after complaining they arrived at 18:40. Staff apologised for mix up , not sure what mix up was ! restaurant not full and we couldn’t understand delay ! We asked for mains to be cancelled as no time left to eat . Manager came over and apologised and said mains would be 2 mins and would not charge us . We agreed but after a further 10 mins still no mains we left ! Hungry and Disappointed at 18:50. Some 80 mins from arriving we had 2 drinks and s started ( nothing special) cannot understand what happened . It’s tine there and won’t be back.
Very friendly staff and provided fish and chips which was as off the menu for my fussy elderly mum, made her day, thanks for excellent customer service. Merry Christmas to you all x
My husband and I had the Sunday. It was really good and sticky toffee pudding to follow. Delish. Would recommend.
