About The Artichoke
The Artichoke is a beautiful pub situated in the village of Croxley Green. Once you have visited The Artichoke you will see many of the beautiful original features, which have aged so well in time, sitting alongside the tasteful, more recent decor which still allows the pub to retain a country atmosphere from bygone days. The chefs focus on using quality produce and delicacies to create the most stunning food based on British classics.
enjoyed our evening, will come again
Service needs to be tighter and of exceptional quality.
My daughters 18th birthday meal big regret going to this pub.
The staff were very helpful and accommodating to us despite it being a very busy, sunny afternoon. We all had a fab time - Thank you!
Pub of choice for our monthly close friends meal and catch up
Catered for our large family gathering excellent. All our food arrived at the same time and was lovely. Really enjoyed a lovely family get together at our much loved local pub. Thank you
I really liked this pub. It’s a bit shabby around the edges now which is a shame because it could be lovely. But the staff were friendly and the food was really good which is the whole point really! I drove over from Essex to meet a friend there and would so again.
Unfortunately, the waitress that served us was either having a bad day, or had an attitude. Two of our main courses had to be sent back, as they were over cooked. Had to ask the staff to clear the plates from the table, and when we asked for the desert menus, we were advised that the kitchens were closed. We were told by the manager, that as we were still eating, he did not want to disturb us and when I pointed out that he should have told, us I was told that kitchen were closing, he told us that this is something that they do not do. In the end he adjusted the bill, but we were left unimpressed.
Lovely food, could have been a bit hotter though when served. Very tasty with lots of choice although a bit more vegetarian/vegan choices would be good, just nut roast is very poor for main courses.
Love visiting the artichoke, great service and delicious food.
Wonderful lunch !
Great atmosphere and service. It was just a shame about the lamb culets, which although cooked as we requested, some were inedible as they were just too tough. When we mentioned this they did take money off our bill, so they did take on board our comments. Shame as this marred our thoroughly enjoyable evening. We will swerve the cutlets in future
A lovely roast dinner on a Sunday, with great service
Service was slow and the food once it arrived was Luke warm and obviously not freshly cooked. A very disappointing experience that spoilt a Mother’s Day celebration. Felt a bit like school dinners.
We went for the Sunday roast which was really nice. However I thought that the dessert was slight over priced for what you got.
The food was great - two of us had the veggie roast and it was very very good. Our waiter was absolutely wonderful - friendly, attentive and helpful, he made the occasion really special! Thank you all.
Very nice little find in Rickmansworth, went for mother's day lunch and staff were very attentive. Food was lovely would go again.
Been here a lot over the last year and it has never been a bad experience. Always attended to and looked after. I noticed a new menu this week and its a lot better. The pie of the day was amazing amd the toffee pudding to finish it off was unbelievably good. Highly recommend this place to anyone who likes the old style pub look and good food. Prices are very fair aswell.
The lamb cutlets were extremely poor. There were 3 exceptionally small cutlets of which were primarily fat. This dish was poorly executed. My partners dish on the other hand (toad in the hole) was ok, nothing exceptional, looked better than it tasted.
I wasn't keen to be led to the snug when this was not mentioned when I booked. I asked for somewhere else and this was forthcoming. Thanks.
Excellent food, excellent service, great ambience
We had a family lunch on Sunday with 15 of us. We pre-ordered food and it came quickly. Staff were very attentive and we added extra sides and deserts without issue. Good service and good food - the kids loved the slide (especially in the sunshine). Good atmosphere too. All round a lovely family gathering in a lovely setting.
I found a short black hair in my fish and chips. The chip fat possibly needs changing as the chips had an unpleasant after taste. Apple crumble very good but ice cream and custard portion was too small. Good efficient service. Kids meals were a good size. Burgers were very good but too expensive at £16. £13 would be more reasonable.
