About The Artichoke
The Artichoke is a beautiful pub situated in the village of Croxley Green. Once you have visited The Artichoke you will see many of the beautiful original features, which have aged so well in time, sitting alongside the tasteful, more recent decor which still allows the pub to retain a country atmosphere from bygone days. The chefs focus on using quality produce and delicacies to create the most stunning food based on British classics.
Food was lovely, Service excellent. I'll be back. I, personally, would have liked the door shut to the garden however I know I would have been in the minority.
Enjoyed our lunch and all staff helpful and friendly, food was plenty and fresh and excellent.
The reservation online, even at very short notice, worked really well. we enjoyed our meal and will definitely be coming back. best wishes Richard PS good beer!
So the seat we had to sit on was thread bare and filthy I really didn’t want to sit on it it was disgusting. The kids menu mac n cheese apparently bites fried in breadcrumbs so waitress recommended the adults mac n cheese which came also covered in bread crumbs £9 kids couldn’t eat went home hungry! The ice-cream was not scoops more like tiny teaspoons! The falafel wraps dry needed hummus or something. Very disappointing I’m fraud for our 50th birthday lunch.
Got all the way down to the pub and was told the ovens were broken. It would have been nice to get a call to say this .. Poor Management..
The food was very good. The staff were polite & friendly but.....when they cleared away after our main course we weren't asked if we would like dessert or any more drinks. The problem was they were grouped around the bar talking, after waiting nearly an hour we attracted someone's attention. The bill was overcharged by £17, it was quickly corrected.
Have eaten a few times at The Artichoke and always had good service. Last night, service was absolutely rubbish, and it was not busy! On arrival the 2 young girls working at/around the bar completely ignored us standing in front of them. We had reserved a table and struggled to find anyone interested in showing us to a table. Took 1hr for food to come out of the kitchen! However, the food was good. Had the same ridiculous lack of service when we wanted to pay our bill. Stood at the bar for ages trying to get someone to take our money. Those 2 girls are taking the mickey out of management by being employed there - they are not interested in working!
Always a fun place to visit.
We had a great time celebrating. We like The Artichoke a lot. It was slightly irritating that one of our meals was completely forgotten. That led us to eating slightly separate. On the whole we had a good time. I'm not sure if we were given some kind of reimbursement for the late meal since we were treated to the meal but hopefully that was the case.
We he a nice late Sunday lunch at the Atrichoke. The pub didn’t feel particularly busy but we arrived after a large party was just finished. I think this meant the service was a little slow and mixed up at first (eg we got one of our side orders 15 minutes before our main meal, also had to get my own cutlery) but once the food came it was great! Recommend it for Sunday lunch highly.
none of the food was very good and I wouldn't return.
Difficult to fault in any way. Staff, food, service, ambience made for thoroughly enjoyable lunch
Excellent service and very good food
Bit disappointing this visit, I phoned before booking to check when you stopped serving breakfast and was told 12. I booked a table for 11.15 thinking I had plenty of time, when we arrived told might not be able to serve us, then gave us 5 mins to order, so very rushed. Then you had no coffee available for my guests to have after... what’s that about go to the shop !,
Great food and excellent staff
Good food in nice surroundings. Service could be better but ok. Popular on sunny days as lots of outside space but parking difficult.
It was a very busy day so the service was a bit slow but we were advised of this when we arrived. Staff were very polite, helpful and pleasant but I think they were a shorthanded and that meant that we waited a long time to be served drinks etc and it was a very hot day. Myself and my partner,s roast was delicious but the children said their burgers were dry and the youngest didn't like the 'black bits in her fish - her fussyness though because they looked delicious! The starter was very good and puddings were gobbled down. Thanks for an enjoyable experience and maybe get another staff member?
The team looked after us so well and easlily accomodated a wheelchair in the main bar area. Our main waiter was brilliant and really made the double 60th birthday celebration special. The food was excellent and not over priced. Keep up the good work. We will definately go back to eat there again.
Very good food, and the staff were very pleasant
Excellent pub. Great food. Great service.
Food was amazing as always with superb service.
The waiting staff were very friendly and attentive but the service time for both courses was very slow.
