About The Artichoke
The Artichoke is a beautiful pub situated in the village of Croxley Green. Once you have visited The Artichoke you will see many of the beautiful original features, which have aged so well in time, sitting alongside the tasteful, more recent decor which still allows the pub to retain a country atmosphere from bygone days. The chefs focus on using quality produce and delicacies to create the most stunning food based on British classics.
A much better experience this time, waitress was lovely, friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Food was hot and tasty. Our last visit was atrocious, service absolutely appalling. We decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and visit again, and were glad we did.
Great food & drink, accompanied with wonderful service
Only one beer (ale) on tap - poor. Service very good indeed Food good but not great Nice environment and easy to park.
I really like this place, friendly atmosphere and staff, very welcoming and delicious food.
Great food and fantastic service from a very friendly team. Well done and thank you!
We had a great experience when we came in for dinner. We came early in the evening but service was on point from the minute we walked in the door. Food was great and we all had different items. I would recommend.
I'm afraid I won't recommend the Artichoke. The food was dreadful particularly the frozen salt and pepper squid. The service was really slow and absolutely no atmosphere there.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Lovely country pub
Well organised, lovely food, delightful venue. It was all good!
My favourite place to be other than my own home. Always Perfect for a quick drink or for a special meal 👌🏻
Third year for Christmas Lunch with work colleagues and wives. Lovely time.
Always a pleasure, great pub and good service.
Live in Northamptonshire and this pub was very highly recommended for our visit down South. The food was cooked beautiful especially the fish dishes. Definitely lived up to its reputation so thank you.
There were a number of large birthday parties on and the restaurant on the right was closed for a disco/party. I would have appreciated being contacted before my booking to let me know, as it was extremely noisy. I would probably have returned when it was quieter.
Too long waiting to be served
Really good atmosphere + good food. Pleasant table service. All round good experience, Well done!
Whilst the food was good, the service was awful. I had to go to the bar twice, once too order our mains and then again to order desserts. It was not busy, in fact quite empty. We have been here a few times and never before experienced such bad service. Such a shame as the variety of menu and quality of dishes is excellent.
My friend and I regularly meet at the Artichoke for lunch. We always have a good time and the staff are very friendly. The food is very good too.
Lovely friendly atmosphere , gorgeous food as always and would highly recommend.
A lovely evening spent in a welcoming, friendly pub. The meal was delicious and reasonably priced. A good experience all round. I would highly recommend and will definitely be back.
Having made a reservation, the impression we were given when we arrived, was that we were not expected. We were directed to a table that wasn’t prepared or set for anyone looking to eat in a draughty area with dirty chairs near the rear door. On seeing some available tables in the more ‘traditional’ area we asked to move to be nearer other groups of diners. There were no draft lagers available, only bottles nor any orange juice.... Fortunately the food was satisfactory and the service was fine but really not an overall experience that we feel like repeating.
Nice evening, great food
Came here as a table of 6 for 60th Birthday, unfortunately decorations were not on the table ready when we arrived as told they would be. We had to ask for candle to be lit as it was not offered. We were given 2 dirty glasses, 1 with thick black scum. Pint glass given to 95yr old lady.... just a little common sense would be to give a half glass or at least ask. Steak knife not offered for steak meal and no salt and pepper on the table. On arrival of meal, waitress spilt one of the portion of fries and was told we would get a new portion, we were just regiven the half portion. I personally ordered the pork and as it did not state on the menu asked if it came with chips/fries or mash, was told it didn't so they would order fries for me, when the meal came out it came with baby potatoes so fries were bot needed, however gave them to person who had only a half portion. These few things could have been avoided and made our visit a little better. That being said the staff were very friendly and the food was outstanding. Prices here are not the cheapest and when charging top prices top service should be provided. Many thanks for the great food though.
Ordered a buttermilk chicken, it was less than half the size of when I’ve ordered it before. The batter was falling off and wasn’t well seasoned, the chips were soggy also. Also, charging £30 for a bottle of wine that’s less than £10 to buy in is just wrong.
A great place to relax with friends & good food & drinks. The staff are very attentive
