About The Artichoke
The Artichoke is a beautiful pub situated in the village of Croxley Green. Once you have visited The Artichoke you will see many of the beautiful original features, which have aged so well in time, sitting alongside the tasteful, more recent decor which still allows the pub to retain a country atmosphere from bygone days. The chefs focus on using quality produce and delicacies to create the most stunning food based on British classics.
nice meal with family. Service was great.
Really good selection of food.
A lovely spot for lunch. Great service, friendly staff, efficient pre order and service time. Food good standard and great portions. We were on a group staff meal. We will be back. Although you have to spell my name right when you rebook us ;-)
Waiter tipped my tagine over me that he thought was risotto. He chose not to realise he had done it. Two waitresses who knew it had happened were of little help and no manager in sight. Waitress mixed up the order so one of our party had his food delivered as we were finishing ours. Waitress not standing back to allow us to pass through but pushing past herself. Waiting staff unsmiling and unhelpful.
They were very accommodating, with a late booking, then rearranging when we arrived early. The main meals were very tasty. However there was confusion over which dessert menu was available - and the options in the end weren’t that great. Good beer though, so overall very good.
You went beyond expectations, big thanks to all at the artichoke
Delicious Sunday roast. My only comment would be that the crumble could have done with being hotter.
Everything very good
Excellent friendly helpful staff. Great atmosphere. Good food.
Lovely Sunday lunch
The food is really good for pub food and a wide selection of wines. Our waiter was well informed and very attentive
The food has gone down hill and the service wasn't great although you were busy
Perfect booking for a family birthday with lovely little touches. Thank you team!
Fabulous roast dinner, was so tasty and just like a home cooked roast!! Delicious!
Took my son there for his birthday. will not go here again the web site says fresh ingredients, everything felt like it was pre prepared probably frozen and put in a microwave. worst meal I have had for a long time. they could not even cook onion rings from frozen as they were burnt. We asked if they could lightly sear the tuna, the response was no the chef could not, that should have been a warning sign for us, very disappointing experience.
Cosy, friendly pub with great food and atmosphere
Great food. Friendly restaurant with good service.
To be honest my only complaint is that despite ordering a child sized portion of mac and cheese I was still charged the full price..this seemed a bit rich as you did have a childs portion with chips. I didn't want the chips just a smaller portion of the dish and I did ask if I could have a childs portion. One other thing is can you bring back the bubble and squeak?
Poor selection of Ale and not everything on the menu available but other than that all very good
Lovely place for a relaxing weekend lunch
Lovely lunch. Will be booking again shortly.
Service was friendly and prompt if a little too eager at times. Unfortunately both courses I had I feel were not up to scratch. The fish burger was overly fishy which may sound strange seeing as it’s a fish burger but the taste was too overpowering for the other ingredients in the mix. Served in a brioche bun as well added to the strange taste and the tartare sauce it was served with was overly chunky. The apple crumble for dessert was tasty enough although the ratio for apple to crumble was disproportionate with far too much apple and it clearly hadn’t been baked together which meant that the crumble was just out on afterwards. The ice cream was tasty though. The staff as said were friendly but seemed to know before I had said anything about the meals what was wrong with them which makes me think they have heard this feedback before. Yet no apology was forthcoming. The others’ main meals were good apparently with the tortellini being a favourite. Reasonable price for three of us and nice atmosphere.
Wonderful pub with excellent atmosphere and service.
Food was lovely and it’s such a nice atmosphere but unfortunately the service was very slow- we went up to the bar to serve our own drinks and had to go pay at the bar at the end of our meal as it took so long for someone to come over. It may have been just an unfortunate night where they were understaffed, but it was only a Wednesday evening so wouldn’t have expected them to be over capacity
We regularly go to the Artichoke for breakfast with our family. Always feel welcome and comfortable. the food is great and the staff friendly and professional.
