About The American Bar at The Stafford London
The American Bar at The Stafford is legendary and belongs to the great tradition of the American cocktail bars that became renowned in London and Paris during the 1920s and 30s. It remains one of the longest surviving American bars in London and is much-loved by its discerning clientele.
Blending English heritage with contemporary sophistication, its intimate corners and clubby atmosphere is the perfect setting for lively conversations every night of the week. Its striking mahogany wood-panelled memorabilia filled interiors are lined with an intriguing collection of artefacts donated by patrons and guests over the years, along with photographs of British and American celebrities who have frequented this stylish, luxury hotel.
Serving classics and signature cocktails, The American Bar is overseen by Bar Director, Benoit Provost whose creations, new and vintage, are a reference for cocktail lovers all over the world.
In contrast to the typically British interior, the bar menu is full of exciting Mediterranean inspired dishes, ideal for an al fresco lunch or dinner in the private cobbled courtyard.
A limited number of tables can be reserved online for indoor and outdoor dining at lunch and dinner. Tables will be offered on a first come, first served basis for drinks. Further tables can be booked directly by calling on 02074930111.

Lovely setting and atmosphere on the terrace.
Food superb (Ben Tish @ Norma), great service but only one ladies loo which meant a bit too much queuing!!
Enjoyable meal, outing despite the rubbish weather and Covid restrictions
Francesca is amazing
Always lovely, most professional and welcoming service. Excellent location hidden in plain sight.
Brilliant evening with wonderful service and a great atmosphere. The perfect summer terrace evening.
We had the perfect evening. My three friends and I are great fans of Hawksmoor, and a couple of us have the occasional cocktail at the Stafford. So this seemed the ideal combination, and we felt that our visit really could not have worked out better. We were welcomed and seated quickly, and drinks were offered and supplied equally speedily. Service throughout our dinner - led by a brilliant (I think Eastern European?) waitress was highly professional, but also warm and friendly. The menus were understandably concise, given the circumstances, but we knew that our choices (ribs, scallops, and a Porterhouse(?) to share) would all be excellent; as indeed they were. We also sampled your desserts, which were fabulous. My wine memories are a little hazy, two weeks on, but I suspect that Pouilly Fume and Malbec were involved somewhere. We ended up paying about 120 pounds a head in all, which made it a bit of a treat - but it was worth every penny. Finally, we were a little concerned that, as one of the last tables to be seated (we had booked for 7.30), there might be some pressure on us to wrap up within a couple of hours? But there was no pressure at all - we left after 10.00, and everyone was thoroughly relaxed. Service across the board was ideal - charming, warm, impeccable. A truly memorable dinner. Thank you!
Strange fellow called Stuart kept wandering around asking for money. Who was he,?
Fantastic place and great service/food
What a great evening, everything was perfect
Professional team made us feel welcome
Had a great day in the courtyard . Food and service were spot on great friendly atmosphere. Looking forward to returning. Drinks and cocktails were amazing 5star all the way.
Fabulous. Thank you in particular to Camille who was so kind.
Once again an enjoyable afternoon in the sanctuary that is The Stafford. Superb food, wine and service.
Good venue considering the current restrictions. Food was ok although not a very imaginative choice on the menu
A delightful spot with wonderful relaxed friendly service. Delicious food, beautifully executed and presented. On the pricey side, especially for the excellent cocktails and wine list. Will definitely be back.
A lovely first lunch out following lockdown !
Beautiful lunch, aided greatly by cracking weather. Attentive and very competent service, delightful food in a very atractive setting given the current restrictions on dining inside. Hope to repeat the expereince again soon.
Another amazing experience at The American Bar. This is always a go to place for us and the service is impeccable!
Lunch (Hawksmoor BBQ) was delicious but lost temperature quickly as outside - could look at serving hotter or using hot plates next time. Service was good but did need to ask for assistance a few times as opposed to the team checking in
We went to the BBQ event on the 24th April with Hawksmoor outside in the Courtyard. Tt was absolutely fabulous. The service is wonderful, nothing is too much trouble. The food and drink delicious. The range of wines available wide and they had our favourite red on the menu which was even better.
Enjoyed the afternoon but were rushed out with no offer of desert or coffee. We had to continuously ask where our drinks were and during dinner they lost out wine and had to find another bottle. I appreciate that it was busy but I do not expect that to effect a restaurant of your standing. The staff were very friendly but obviously over stressed by either not enough of them or poor organisation by the management. The sommelier was excellent and the waitresses very pleasant. I would book again but hope you can review your structure to make the day enjoyable and not rushed out so precipitously
Great lunch and, as ever, the staff and service are exceptional.
Fantastic location fantastic staff and a great time had. We will be back.
Great to be back with the experience as good as always.
