About The Albion
The Albion is a Georgian gem left over from a time when Islington was fields and farmland and where the regulars would take afternoon walks out of the city to visit us.
Renowned for its delicious whole roast suckling pig and delightful rear beer garden, The Albion has become something of an Islington institution.
With its wisteria covered façade and log fires, The Albion provides the perfect location to entertain, relax and forget the stresses of modern life, combining a central Islington location, just off Upper Street, with a picturesque walled garden situated within the Barnsbury conservation area.
Fun, buzzy atmosphere with an amazing outdoor space. Great selection of food and wines. Was advised the roast beef is served medium rare. Sadly our parties came out blue, the kitchen really needs to monitor this as it was far too rare for the average person.
Excellent venue and the food was delicious
Sunday roast was delicious, and the wine menus decent as well!
BEST PUB IN LONDON
Lovely food & pub!!
Great food, service, and ambiance!
We had a brilliant Sunday roast yesterday - one of the best I've had in London. Service was great too, drinks and food came quickly and the lady who looked after us in the upstairs dining room was lovely. Will definitely be returning when we can.
We had a lovely anniversary lunch and thought that the food was excellent. Everything was very well organised and the staff were really lovely and very friendly. We will definitely be back after lockdown
Great service and felt safe. Everyone was doing the right things (wearing masks, small groups etc) Just went for a few drinks.
Wonderful, cosy pub for a Sunday lunch
Great food and service - nicest pub in the area!
Nice and cosy venue with one of the best beer garden's in North London. The roast was great but slightly expensive for what it is. Just a bit disappointed with the beers..
I booked the Albion for mine and my boyfriends anniversary and when we arrived we were sat by the door which I wasn't overly happy with but we settled and order a bottle of red wine which was very nice. We then ordered our food and I went for the vegetarian option and I have to say I was very disappointed. It came out very quickly and the meal was a squash and caramelised onion wellington and it was the smallest wellington with the tiniest bit of pastry and hardly any vegetables with the roast potatoes like something from a school dinner. It was also lute warm. We decided not to order any dessert and got our bill and left after being there for under an hour. It all felt very rushed but the service we received was good and I would like to go back again to maybe try something different but I was very disappointed in the vegetarian roast.
Very good food, but portions weren't fab. Staff were friendly but it was very expensive (£100 for a roast for three with just one drink each).
The staff are charming and friendly. The food is delicious!
Fabulous meal, great service and I can't wait to return.
We had the risotto and the steak for our mains. The risotto was dull and the steak very chewy. Disappointing given the prices. Also, the door manager kept leaving the door open for extended periods and it was a cold night, meaning we shivered often due to the cold draft. Really unhappy and won't be visiting or recommending - this is a full reversal from the last time I visited the Albion a few years ago and had a great experience.
Exceptional food and service . Great Sunday lunch . The only -ve is the kitchen door constantly bangs with service staff accessing kitchen.
As usual delicious food lovely atmosphere and great service. We will be returning!
A great evening at spacious table with Covid precautions managed very well. Well done and thank you
Beautiful pub with a lovely atmosphere and large wooden booths to feel cozy in.
Lovely food & great atmosphere at the Albion. Such a wholesome and cosy pub! The staff were really helpful with sorting our booking and finding space for us when it was rainy and we turned up a bit early. Will visit again soon.
At the beginning the table was a little in a too dark area, but the weathers make it lighter. The atmosphere was really good we even bumped into a Tv actress. I could have to figure out a best way to enjoy my birthday with my friends!
