About The 78
Next to its sister establishments Mono, Stereo, The Old Hairdresser’s and The Flying Duck, and it’s new East-coast cousin Harmonium, The 78 is something of an odd one out. It’s situated in Glasgow’s West End, for one thing – just off Argyle Street in the popular Finnieston neighbourhood.
With chunky wooden tables and mismatched vintage armchairs, an open kitchen hatch at one end of the room and an open fire at the other, the atmosphere is cosy and relaxed, as is the service. The bar and kitchen, like the other bars in its stable, are 100% vegan, and the food is delightfully done at prices that buck the trend for the area.
The beer selection is extensive, with plenty of choice both on tap and in the fridge. There are DJs every Friday and Saturday – when, as on Thursdays, the bar is open until 1am – while Sunday evenings are reserved for live jazz, the perfect way to wind down your weekend.
Absolutely delicious food, some things we’ve never tasted before. Great service and great atmosphere. We’ll be back!
Great food with a fab menu and big portions great atmosphere and lovely friendly staff.
Excellent food, wonderful friendly staff who give great service - nothing at all to fault.
Great food. Best Vegan food in Glasgow so far I think. Good music too; not too loud but clearly someone had given it some thought.
Everything great except insanely loud music that made it impossible to talk!
Nice atmosphere, good, friendly and quick service (much improved from previous visits) and lovely food. Will definitely come again.
Delicious food, cosy atmosphere, was busy so took a little while to get pudding ordered! Well worth the wait though.
Absolutely fabulous service, as always. And the food was as delicious as ever. Great special tonight! The staff are an absolute joy and it is always a pleasure to eat and drink here.
Great food and service, also good selection of beers.
Absolutely fantastic. First evening in Glasgow and what a way to start it. The food was incredible. Carbonara was beautiful, the special Mapu Tofu was incredible. A different twist to what we'd seen before and just made it fantastic. I recommend booking for a weekend. Booked for 7pm on Saturday, for two - sat down straight away but may have had a little wait otherwise. Staff were extremely accommadating and friendly.
Too busy - not enough staff. We ordered our food - we waited 45 mins for someone to take out desert order- no one came - wrong drinks arrived - I had to go to bar to complain- we paid our bill & left. I will try again - maybe not on a Saturday. Chairs were constantly being bumped as well. I park d right outside - that was the only consolation
Wonderful selection of vegan beverages, tasty vegan food and great service in a chilled, pleasant environment.
First time visit. Really enjoyed the food, and wide range of drinks available. Portions were healthy and food tasted great
Great food and lovely cosy place with friendly service. Really enjoyed it!
We booked a table but had to share one. The music was a bit loud for chatting. The dessert we wanted to order wasn’t available however the food we did have was very nice.
Amazing food and great atmosphere can't wait to come back again
Pure dead brilliant! Very good range of fantastically well cooked food and interesting menu. ( Makes a change for vegetarians, plus REAL chips) Staff very attentive and helpful. Loved the atmosphere too.
Can’t fault the service & the food -
Love the 78 ! Great new menu as well !
Very cool place.
Had a wonderful visit..food was amazing!
Cosy atmosphere. The staff were friendly and we enjoyed our meal. Only one small criticism.... too much rice in the protein bowl compared to other ingredients. But still tasty.
Lovely contemporary, diverse choices and everything we had was delicious! Thank you
what a lovely place! Friendly, roomy (for a bigger person) and great value for the $$. We didn't know anything about it, but ran across it on a walk and wanted to treat our daughter, who has a vegan diet. She loved it and will definitely return with friends. Thanks for a great evening!
I booked a table at The 78 as it is close to the SEC and completely vegan. The reviews were very good and it had also been recommended by a couple of friends. We weren't disappointed. The food was excellent, the atmosphere great and the service couldn't have been friendlier or more efficient. Would definitely recommended and will definitely book again!
