About The 78
Next to its sister establishments Mono, Stereo, The Old Hairdresser’s and The Flying Duck, and it’s new East-coast cousin Harmonium, The 78 is something of an odd one out. It’s situated in Glasgow’s West End, for one thing – just off Argyle Street in the popular Finnieston neighbourhood.
With chunky wooden tables, an open kitchen hatch at one end of the room and an open fire at the other, the atmosphere is cosy and relaxed, as is the service. The bar and kitchen, like the other bars in its stable, are 100% vegan, and the food is delightfully done at prices that buck the trend for the area.
The beer selection is extensive, with plenty of choice both on tap and in the fridge. There are DJs every Friday and Saturday – when, as on Thursdays, the bar is open until 1am – while Sunday evenings are reserved for live jazz, the perfect way to wind down your weekend.
The burrito is amazing!
Very enjoyable good food.
Excellent all round
burgers were really good. desserts were really small, expensive for what it is.
great service and some of the best vegan food I've tried, the carbonara was unbelievable, so realistic!
Excellent staff, service, food and live music. Will definitely eat at 78 again, the Sunday jazz musicians are an inspiration. Food excellent for gluten free party.
Lovely staff, food was delicious and myself and another member of dining party not vegan but it was delicious, lovely Jazz band playing which made for a great atmosphere, very reasonably priced too!
Had a fabulous Sunday afternoon get together. All the food was fabulous!
We have dined at 78 before . This was our first jazz night . Food, drink and service were excellent as usual. ,
Absolutely delicious as always for both my vegan self and my non-veg boyfriend. The wrap and carbonara especially are a firm fave.
Great vegan food, one of the best places to eat and drink
Amazing food, great atmosphere.
Absolutely amazing meal! Pleasure to finally visit the78. High quality food in such a relaxed ambience. Showarma and bloody Mary were outstanding! :)
Had an amazing time, lovely staff, thanks so much
Second visit, not disappointed. Great food and excellent value for. Money. Helpful staff, good atmosphere. Will be a regular when Inam in Glasgow.
excellence service, drinks, and food. Vegan yummy.
Best vegan joint in town!
We were a group of 5, of whom only one was a vegan. The food and service were excellent. Good selection of draught beers and cocktails. Pleasant surprise when we got the bill, less than £30 per person including tip. Only minor thing was that the music was a bit too loud from 9pm. That said, it was definitely a 5 star experience.
The menu has changed since I last visited. Enjoyed the new dishes.
This was our first visit to the 78. The whole menu, food and drink, is vegan so there's no scouring for the 'v' symbol. Great selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. We both had burgers, the cheeseburger in particular was lovely. The vegan cheese was the most authentic 'burger cheese' we've had, so tasty. I'd told the restaurant in advance it was my wife's birthday but was blown away when they unexpectedly brought her a slice of cake with a candle. Very nice and thoughtful touch. The cake and accompanying ice cream were both delicious and indistinguishable from dairy based baking. Really relaxed atmosphere and friendly service, would go back without hesitation in order to try other things on the menu. I'd recommend this place to anybody whether they are vegan or not, definitely worth a visit.
Fantastic food & great service would highly recommend .
Absolutely delicious brunch! The best vegan "fry up" I have had. Will definitely be back :-)
Fantastic experience. Great food and drink. Importantly having been several times, the quality has never dipped off.... so we are confident about referrals to friends and will be returning soon.
