About The 78
Next to its sister establishments Mono, Stereo, The Old Hairdresser’s and The Flying Duck, and it’s new East-coast cousin Harmonium, The 78 is something of an odd one out. It’s situated in Glasgow’s West End, for one thing – just off Argyle Street in the popular Finnieston neighbourhood.
With chunky wooden tables, an open kitchen hatch at one end of the room and an open fire at the other, the atmosphere is cosy and relaxed, as is the service. The bar and kitchen, like the other bars in its stable, are 100% vegan, and the food is delightfully done at prices that buck the trend for the area.
The beer selection is extensive, with plenty of choice both on tap and in the fridge. There are DJs every Friday and Saturday – when, as on Thursdays, the bar is open until 1am – while Sunday evenings are reserved for live jazz, the perfect way to wind down your weekend.
Just simply a great place to eat, drink and spend time with friends.
My mum and I loved our meal and really appreciated the warm and friendly service. We love the laid back atmosphere of the 78. Thank you!
Had a wonderful evening catching up with family and friends to celebrate my birthday. Excellent venue the only downside was no Merlot available. I’d highly recommend this place and will certainly visit again when I’m back in Scotland. Table staff were excellent too
Amazing food! Epic portions and the vegan cheese was the best I'd tasted.
Always love coming here. Only problem is having too many delicious options to choose from! Everything is always so tasty and the staff are lovely.
We had a delicious dinner. The service was fantastic, staff were very friendly and helpful. We love the 78 and will be back!
Great food and beer, service staff exceptional
Excellent food and service on a very busy night
Delicious Food and great service in a really friendly restaurant bar
The classic burger is simply amazing. Loved it! The mood of the restaurant was fantastic. I really appreciated everything. To come back👌
Lovely food & beer, fabulous atmosphere.
Lovely, friendly staff. One of the best places in Glasgow for vegan food. Service takes a little while if it's busy, but it's worth the wait.
Fantastic service especially our main waiter. Really only wish it was city center and I would be there more often. Delicious vegan food - only thing I can say is when might there be lessons available to book to learn from the chef or a book to buy as it was so creative and tasty. I eat out regularly and am flexitarian but going more vegan as time moves on and this food definitely is helping persuade me! Fantastic can't wait to come back in a couple of weeks
First time visit and couldn't have been more delighted. Delicious imaginative menu. Will be back for sure...
The food was a decent price for the portion size, but it was all rather bland and not seasoned well. Service was quick, but the atmosphere wasn't very good as it was very noisy and we had to shout over at eachother. Also, it was uncomfortable that you had large amounts of people staring at you for the duration of the meal because they wanted our seats.
Always love our food at the 78, menu constantly changes each time but always fabulous tasty food which never disappoints & provides inspiration for our own home cooking. Excellent service from lovely attentive staff. Amazing value for money, can’t eat anywhere else locally which has such tasty food for such affordable prices. Total joy!
Great as usual!
We came for an anniversary meal and both agreed it’s the best vegan food we’ve ever had. The service was friendly but not too much, everything was really efficient coming out from drinks & food. We felt really comfortable and wish we could’ve eaten more! The only downside would be that we were sat next to a big table. Obviously you can’t control who comes into the restaurant but maybe best not to put a table of two next to a table for 10? We felt a bit like the table next to us were on top of us and would have appreciated a bit more space being that we were celebrating our anniversary.
Great food! Great staff! Great Beer! In fact, just great period! Thoroughly recommend this place - I will be making this a regular Friday event.
Great service, super laid back atmosphere, great vibe and even better food! Been a few times now and never been disappointed! Back soon, promise!
Fabulous meal and service. Only negative, it was difficult to hear each other due to the positioning of the speakers. We were moved to another table where it was slightly better.
One if my favourite Glasgow vegan eateries. Never disappointed.
Tasty food and a laid back vibe.
Best vegan food I’ve ever had! Absolutely delicious!!!
My boyfriend who isn't even vegan recommended this place for our lunch. I am so I was excited and even he LOVED it! Staff were so lovely, decor was gorgeous and the food was delicious!! Will be back and omg dog friendlly!!
