About The 78
Next to its sister establishments Mono, Stereo, The Old Hairdresser’s and The Flying Duck, and it’s new East-coast cousin Harmonium, The 78 is something of an odd one out. It’s situated in Glasgow’s West End, for one thing – just off Argyle Street in the popular Finnieston neighbourhood.
With chunky wooden tables, an open kitchen hatch at one end of the room and an open fire at the other, the atmosphere is cosy and relaxed, as is the service. The bar and kitchen, like the other bars in its stable, are 100% vegan, and the food is delightfully done at prices that buck the trend for the area.
The beer selection is extensive, with plenty of choice both on tap and in the fridge. There are DJs every Friday and Saturday – the bar is open until 1am – while Sunday evenings are reserved for live jazz, the perfect way to wind down your weekend.
Such a cool, chilled place to get some delicious vegan food. The carbonara is so amazing I've had dreams about it! The staff are always really friendly too.
We loved our meal
Such a nice atmosphere and we are craving your carbonara already
Great meal for my partner's birthday. The jackfruit shawarma was delicious - my first time trying it and it certainly won't be the last. Service really good and very welcoming, non obtrusive atmosphere. Thank you!
Great food. Nice relaxed setting
Fabulous place for foodies, I’m not a vegetarian but my friends are so booked this and wasn’t sure, but it was great, everything - food, drinks, atmosphere and service was really good and even they even had vegan Baileys!!! Tomato Confit is to die for! 😊😊
Excellent food and wine- brilliant friendly and knowledgable staff in a great location. We will be back!
Great service, atmosphere and value for money. Great vegan food
Excellent experience we love The 78, it is our favourite Glasgow restaurant
The special was delicious!
Food was delicious and bar had great atmosphere.
Booked a table for 12pm, which is when they open. Got there five minutes before and went into the venue (as the door was open) and abruptly asked to wait outside until they were ready. A couple of minutes later they allowed us in (not sure why we couldn’t have sat down inside and waited). The only reason I had booked to go here is because of the fantastic sounding breakfast on the menu - The 78 Breakfast. However, when we got to the venue, it turned out that they don’t do that breakfast anymore and offer a less sexy breakfast for about the same price. The breakfast was good, but disappointing that they haven’t updated their website to reflect the changes. Aside from that, good beer and nice enough venue.
Lovely food and great service!
Great service, warm, chilled atmosphere and delicious food.
Great environment - food can be improved
Food is always good, but could do with expanding the menu somewhat especially the uninspiring sweet menu, but great wee pub that we have frequented for some years now and often recommend.
Absolutely delicious food and such amazing value!! Made for a lovely Valentine’s Day meal!!
Many thanks to the chef on Tuesday who more than met the challenge of my many restrictive dietary requirements. Greatly appreciated.
Lovely staff, laid back place, good value for money. Will return.
We were late arriving due to traffic and had tickets for a show later, so needed to be served quickly. The waiter couldn’t have been more helpful, got us our food served immediately, really friendly and a great meal. Loved it! Thank you.
Food was great, we were dining with a toddler and It was toddler friendly too. Will definitely go back for more!
Amazing tasty food, small plates are v generous, never fails to serve a great meal
Would recommend. Everything was great, thanks
Food is always pretty good here and this visit was no exception.
