Really enjoyed our time in 1780, from our cocktail upstairs with the amazing views, to our delicious food & wine in 1780, fabulous friendly professional service. I would highly recommend, thank you. Marie
pleasant meal with excellent service.
Wow, that is all I can say - my expectations were well and truly exceeded!! The last time I ate in what was the Osbourne Restaurant, the food and service left a lot to be desired so I was unsure of what to expect this time in the relatively new named 'The 1780'. However, on this occasion Derek Yu and his team provided my dinner party with an exceptional client experience which we are all still raving about - thank you and much appreciated, Bertrand
Very expensive lunch and a mix up with the bill. Coffee was served before desert!
Value for money
Enjoyed my time immensely. All staff members were so helpful & professional. Had a fantastic treatment at the spa, beautiful dinner in 1780 restaurant and topped off with waking up to an amazing sea view in the morning. Fabulous hotel would highly recommend.
a gang of 27 of us in total stayed in the hotel at xmas. We found the food nice with good range of choice. Because it was the festive season we found the bar lacked ambience on Christmas night. Even piped music could have livened up the place. Have stayed in places at Christmas time where entertainment is provided. That would be the only flaw with returning again next year.
Halibut was bland, couldnt taste any seasoning at all. Beef wellington and duck/foie gras ballintine was really taste. Desserts were a good effort but didnt deliever the wow factor. Overall the dishes were just average/flavourless. The experience was a let down due to this because we had huge expectations from the pictures of the website. We felt robbed after the meal
We had a large table of 16 people. It was one of the most awful restaurant experiences I have had. When we arrived our party were on 3 different tables which was not mentioned to be at the time of the booking. There was a lot of confusion before the situation was rectified. But the most disappointing was the food - it was barely edible. The starters were luke warm, tasteless and just not up to standard. For €38 per head for a lunch menu, I would expect a very high standard of food. The turkey and ham was tasteless and lacked any flavour and barely enough portions for one person, I personally had the beef dish and it was just an awful cut of meat- very fatty, the sauce was far too strong and over bearing and again barely warm. The 2 guests that had the hake enjoyed it. The childrens goujons were not fresh and tasted like frozen supermarket goods. It was very disappointing. We had a large family reunion with family home from abroad and it was ruined by the under-performance of your kitchen We are locals but will not be returning to your restaurant nor would be recommend you. We spent almost €1000 in your hotel- a disgraceful amount of money for what we were served.
Extremely happy with the Service , Food, and overall experience
What a lovely dining experience we had in the 1780 restaurant after a most disappointing dining experience in the Jamison bar the previous evening. Our meals were simply fabulous and so was the service, unlike our first evening. The food was cold, served on a freezing plate and even the 'warm apple sponge' was served cold. The red wine must have came straight from the cellar - yes it was cold too. Need a manager in the Jamison bar!!!
Main course was disappointing. As portions very small. Otherwise generally good
overall a very pleasant and relaxing restaurant in which to enjoy excellent food from a comprehensive menu. Easy to offer recommendation to others.
We had an excellent meal in 1780 on Saturday the quality and presentation of food was to a high standard a couple of things to make it better would be we got no veg just potato with main course also was only choice of one fish would prefer more fish on menu also maybe one lower cost house wine. We were on a taste voucher.
Amazing meal & service was exceptional,
This was my third time to dine here and once again I came away extremely impressed. The service team are top class, being professional yet relaxed and friendly with great knowledge of the menu which they are happy to discuss. The food is simply exquisite, from the lovely breads, the creative amuse bouche through to the desserts (which are irresistible)-every course was a delight. I have seen a good range of the dishes at this stage and everyone of them is so well presented and tasty. I would definitely say this is the best hotel restaurant I have ever eaten in. Thanks to all at 1780 for another fantastic meal
Previous offer was better when there was only one menu with all of the best choices and included coffee. It does not seem as special an experience when choosing from a set menu beside an a la carte with some superior dishes.
Staff were extremely professional, helpful and knowledgable but also created a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. Gorgeous food and wine!! We will definitely be back.
Excellent food and service
We had such a lovely evening. The food, service and atmosphere were all perfect. Could not fault a thing. The happy Anniversary decorations on our dessert plates made our night. Thank-you
Restaurant staff were particularly nice catering for 1 pregnant woman, one veggie, and one who's alergic to shellfish, offering alternatives and tasters. We really felt very special and all our needs looked after.
A lovely experience which we hope to repeat again.
Very different foods on each plate but all complemented each other.
This was the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant We both asked for our Baked to be well cooked When it arrived it was running with water and totally undercooked The waitress took our dinner away and came back and informed us that he would not cook it the way we want it She took bot dishes away and brought us back a fresh dinner which was still undercooked We also returned that , I believe the chef is from Tipperary and use to have his own restaurant I can see why he does not have a restaurant anymore His whole attitude was a total disgrace We had a bowl of potatoes between us and a €75 bottom of wine Someone in Management needs to deal with this Now
Erm... the best parts of the meal were the unexpected courses....the actual starter and main courses were pretty tasteless....poor lad who served us couldn't speak English properly
