About Thames Lido
The restaurant sits along the northern edge of the building, nestled between the pool and the river Thames. The food is authentic Lido style as developed and evolved by Lido Bristol Head Chef Freddy Bird. The Lido Bristol restaurant has received many awards over the past 8 years including runner up in this years best restaurant category in the Observer Food Monthly Awards.
Great lunch for hubby's birthday - using a voucher bought last xmas. Food delicious although as usual had to query a few ingredients - I am sure chef puts them in to confuse everybody.
Good innovative food. Great ingredients, prepared and served well in nice surroundings. A definite ‘returner’.
This was my second visit to this lovely restaurant. Had a lunch with work colleagues. Great atmosphere good service and a nice menu. The downside. One of my coworkers was very ill with vomiting & diarrhoea within an hour of leaving the restaurant. This has been reported back. She very disappointed.
There isn't enough stars to share how much I adore this place! I bring all my clients here for lunches, and bring my family for dinners. Love it. The Spa & facilities are also incredible! So glad its on my door step! Definitely recommend.
The lady who served us was wonderful, friendly and really knowledgeable. She recommended dishes and was able to talk us through anything we were unsure of on the menu. The food was delicious and beautifully balanced and the atmosphere was great.
My third visit, and my husbands first. Food is delicious, presentation excellent and ambiance delightful. Excellent customer service from all your restaurant staff. A winning combination!
Slightly pricy, but excellent food. Friendly service, but I got the impression the team was one under strength. Overall? The best meal I had in my one month visit to the UK (from Australia). Keep it up!
Delicious food and outstanding service-all staff really friendly and nice and also very efficient. All round excellent experience.
Good food and pleasant staff. An excellent, value for money meal on a Saturday lunch time.
Beautiful place and really lovely staff!
Great service with friendly helpful staff, and great atmosphere. Menu required a bit of "Googling" to know what some things were, but food was delicious and good to try new things!
Lovely place feel and staff. Web site is weird. If you know nothing about the lido of doesn't tell you much. Eg . That there is a room with hair dryers etc or you have your own lovely shampoo so you don't have to bring your own and you can hire a tube and cost.
Delicious food, very friendly and helpful staff. A most enjoyable, relaxing evening. Will be visiting again.
We had the bird food menu which was great - a delicious selection from the chef.
The Lido is my little slice of heaven! By far the best restaurant in Reading, and the swimming is fab too!
We had lovely friendly, efficient staff and delicious food. It was our wedding anniversary and we don't get out much now we have young children! We loved the whole evening - very special and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone
We absolutely loved our Swim and Eat package. We don't live locally and were attracted to you from a Guardian restaurant review in December. We eat out a lot and know our food and service. First, good things. The quality of the food was outstanding - not faux Iberian, but genuinely thoughtful food, exquisitely executed and different. However, we were gobsmacked by the service which let the whole thing down. You can't claim you didn't have enough staff, as there were more than enough per head, but our requests were just forgotten, our waitress didn't know anything about the menu and when we asked for wine, water, the bill, it just didn't arrive. This is the chink in your armour. We will come again - and recommend that our friends come to you because this is a brave venture and one with a whole lot of heart. We believe in you and want you to succeed. It's just a shame you can't see where the gaps most glaringly exist. We wish you all the very best. Chris and Rachel
The staff were very friendly and the service was prompt.
Lovely atmosphere, food and drink.
Thanks for getting in touch. I was about to do a big social media campaign on the Thames Lido. I booked for 4 of us on 2nd August for my husbands birthday. We spent over £200 with Thames Lido as we bought my young son and his friend. The service was terrible, a pane of glass shattered near us causing my young son and his friend shock. We were told to move away not in an nice way. Horrid horrid way to be treated after spending so much money with them. Luckily we have photos that tell the story. I am in PR and really you should offer guests (having spent £80 on a swim and over £100 in the restaurant) a free day. Nothing though was forthcoming. I have been trying to get through today but it is busy and offers a service for you to be called back. When your young son has had glass shattered in his face it is disgusting. Very odd company who should value and apologies to guests. Only happened yesterday so I am not a about to share all this on social media until I hear from them. Thanks for getting in touch but guessing you are an automatic email and not any personal service for the sheer shock and horror of what happened at this place yesterday, Await to hear from them.
The food has potential but when they are charging these prices it has to be right. Scallops were lovely but were underwhelming served plain in their shells with lashings of butter, nothing to soak up the juices or add in some texture. Excessive tomato topping on aubergine main was overpowering and rather acrid so you lost the lovely aubergine completely. Turbot was cooked well but again was nothing to write home about. Service was lacking, had to ask multiple times for verious items and also received a wrong one! Lovely waitress but was not knowledgable of all the menu, just some items. The pork main and pistachio ice cream were the outstanding winners of the evening. Cheese board needed crackers/thins vs bread but could have had greater diversity in flavour with the hard cheeses. It was not bad, that would be unfair but at over £60 per head it really should have been better. We left feeling it was poor value for money and would not return again, which is a real pity as the venue is unique and lovely.
Great setting and really good food. Wish i’d Had a swim too.
It would be good that the set menu could be available till 8pm.
Was a great experience, food was amazing. Customer service was top class. Venue wow. Lucky to be living next door have recommended to my friends . Thank you
