About Thames Lido
Nestled between the restored Edwardian pool and the river Thames, the restaurant is a relaxed and unpretentious space where the floor to ceiling doors slide back to let the elements in.
Watch the swimmers go by as your food is cooked in the wood-fired ovens.
Our menus have hints of the Moorish and of the Mediterranean, with a strong Spanish lilt. Great ingredients sourced from small-scale hand-picked suppliers are cooked over fire with a sense of pleasure and fun.
Our server was amazing, genuinely wanted us to have a nice experience welcoming us with a glass of fizz to celebrate my husbands birthday and picking up a Portuguese tart for me before they ran out. menu options are amazing, breath of fresh air for plant based diet but now review dessert options for vegans.
Very nice evening
Staff were attentive & friendly. Food as usual superb. Love the BYOW, Tuesdays sorted!
We had the set lunch, main course really nice and good value, however, the desserts we felt were overpriced
The atmosphere at the Lido is great, I fully enjoy being there every single time I go. All staff are so pleasant and helpful. Our food order was a little mixed up but I think this was due to the systems going down and orders hand written. Would recommend this restaurant to all my friends!
Great venue, fantastic service and wonderful food! The function room upstairs was the perfect setting for our post-cycle lunch. We'll definitely be back next year.
Great food, very well presented - lovely atmosphere in a spacious environment side onto Lido. Service staff nice but a little under prepped in knowledge of menu imho. Simple questions like is the fish dish filleted had to be checked. Not something you’d expect for the prices being paid.
Very good ambiance, had been here for a dinner with wife on her birthday. The food was great as well as the views. Would definite recommend.
I am a member and forgot to use my card to get a discount. I know I should remember but by the time I have finished eating I never do. It would be LOVELY to be reminded.
Very happy with my visit.
The Lido restaurant is a fantastically relaxed environment with friendly, efficient staff and amazing food. I always recommend it!
Lovely buzzy atmosphere and unusual, interesting menu. Excellent food.
Great place for a post-meeting dinner with the place quiet enough for discussing and a great atmosphere. Tables are quite narrow and we were stuck against one of the post which made it awkward for people to move easily on one side of the table. Food is superb
Good Food. Courteous staff. Excellent Service.
The food was very nice but not wow amazing. Such a shame you don’t allow mixing of menus, 2 of our group really wanted tapas but as we were in restaurant not allowed. Though we massively appreciated getting ‘permission’ to have tapas snacks while waiting on others arriving (added another £20 to your takings!).
Lovely setting, great food and service. Have just booked a couple of corporate Christmas dinners here too.
Food was ok but we all found the menu limited Atmosphere was ok but don't really like being in a restaurant with people in their dressing gowns. But that's just me Service was absolutely dreadful. Once we sat down we had to ask for everything at every stage (ordering, drinks, menu etc) We had to ask someone to come over and take our orders. Once our mains were finally cleared (which we had to ask them to) we were left just to sit with no drinks or an offer of a sweet menu. Finally one our group got up and found someone who came over with some menus. I asked her to bring me a small lager while we were choosing. There we sat for another 30 mins without anyone coming back to take our order. It was then that one of our party once again went to find someone to request the bill as we all felt it would take too long to have sweets and we had a young child with who had sat there long enough. It then took another20 mins to pay the bill An hour after ordering a small lager we left without it as it never arrived Its fair to say that everyone was very pleasant but absolutely appalling at their jobs Good luck making this restaurant a success with that lot
6 of us had lunch. It felt decadent and special. The food was delicious. Thank you.
Fantastic, at last another great restaurant in Reading, with an appealing imaginative menu. Food cooked with passion and expertise. Relaxing atmosphere feel as if you are on holiday. Friendly efficient service
Excellent, friendly and attentive service. Loved the 'natural' mint in he mint choc chip ice cream. Wines were enjoyable. Single glass ones seemed to be Spain-focussed... but I happen to love Spanish wines so not an issue for me, though may be for someone with different tastes (?) A broader selection by the glass could be more interesting. We'll definitely come again (it wasn't our first time) and bring others!
The aubergine starter was too sweet and to heavy. Tasted like a doughnut. My main vegetarian course was too rich and stodgy with lots of very stodgy fried veg The first time I have been disappointed with my lido food.
Great service. Good food. Bit soulless.
Hubby and I had a fun evening out celebrating our 11th anniversary. It was a quiet night (Wednesday), and we enjoyed a casual but friendly ambience and great service. The restaurant even gifted us two glasses of celebratory Prosecco! Definitely coming back sometime for breakfast, lunch, or a swim+dine package.
Always an amazing experience all round. My absolute favourite place to hang out, how did we live before our lovely Lido came along?
I love the food at Thames Lido. I am especially pleased that the scallops have been on the menu since day one. The main reason I love the Lido is the staff, who are always friendly and good at their jobs.
