About Thali Southville
Neighbourhood restaurant packed full of exciting Indian flavours in the historic Tobacco Factory.
Great food and lovely atmosphere.
Great food, great service, really enjoyed our meal
Lovely food and range of dietary options
Menu has become too small and boring. What happened to the lovely grilled dishes? Food also lacked flavour and authentic spice taste. Sorry.
Food and staff were fabulous. Highly recommend and will defo come again!!
We enjoyed our meal very much. However, when we arrived the restaurant had no record of my online booking, despite the fact that I had received a confirmation. The person who greeted us was apologetic and gave us poppadoms on the house, finding us a table after a short wait despite the fact that you were fully booked.. However this has made me hesitant to book online again.
Excellent food and service
The service was a little slow, it took quite a while to get water on our table and get to order drinks and then longer to receive drinks. The food was quicker The after drinks- chai tea also seemed to take a while but everything was delicious and the atmosphere is great and staff friendly
We had a lovely meal, thank you and everyone was incredibly helpful. As a large party with two young children I was more concerned about us being a problem! However, the food was great as usual and we will be back soon (smaller party I hope!). Thank you so much as it was my daughter's first visit and a birthday gathering for her.
we love it here , food and staff are amazing , thank you , we will be back soon :-)
Very personable and prompt service, nice funky restaurant with good décor, meals lovely and spicy with lots of accompaniments. Enjoyed the experience v much.
Thank you for seating us at our table before our booking time and for all the help given to my Mum in choosing an appropriate dish. This experience was new to a few of us but We all enjoyed our food very much and would love to come again. Dawn was an excellent only to happy to help in every way. An excellent part of my daughter's 21 birthday celebrations
All together a fantastic night! Great food, service and atmosphere too.
Loved the food especially the paneer curry.
Great food. Great beer and great atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Food was delicious and really quick service. Would have no trouble recommending Thali to anyone
Can't fault the food, very nice curry. However on a busy Friday evening before a rugby game at Ashton Gate the staff were clearly not prepared for this. When we arrived we had to wait for our table despite booking ahead and then wait almost 40 mins to get a drink as there was only one guy serving behind the bar and was clearly stretched! Once we were eventually seated and managed to place our order the food came out fairly swiftly, however on the whole the service was poor. Can I suggest you look ahead to any Friday night football/rugby matches and staff the restaurant accordingly!
Avreally good meal and friendly and helpful staff
It was v busy (pre rugby match) when we visited so it was a bit hectic but the staff coped really well
Appalling service. Busy due to the rugby but we had booked a table and had to wait to be seated as others had “stolen it” in the words of the waitress, the table was cleared but we still weren’t showed to it so we just sat down. We waited 45 minutes before either our drink or our poppadoms arrived and couldn’t catch the attention of any staff in that time, we had to go to the bar to ask where things were. Appreciate things being busy but how can it take that long for poppadoms and a drink to be poured? Also the staff were not at all apologetic and one gentleman was quite passive aggressive in explaining that they were busy. I would think if there is a game on the restaurant should know to increase staff levels.
Usually service is excellent, however on this occasion the service was not great. I understand there was a problem with the booking system meaning all bookings were lost. I’d booked our table at 6 to give enough time to eat before going to rugby at Ashton gate. But we had to wait 45 minutes before a table was available for us! And there was only one person on the bar who then told us he couldn’t serve us because he was too busy making drinks for the people seated at tables! It seemed like there was also nowhere near enough staff considering it was a match night (even if the bookings hadn’t all gone wrong) I was really disappointed because last time I came it was also a match night but everything went so much more smoothly.
We booked a table several days in advance, confirmed the booking 2 days before the meal but arrived to find a long queue of other diners who had also booked tables in advance but no tables to seat any of us. After waiting 20 minutes for a table to become available we had to leave without eating as it was clear we wouldn't be seated and fed in time for the rugby game we were attending that evening. Have eaten here before and rate the food highly - booking system however is dreadful.
As always, lovely food and staff in a great venue. Will visit again when next in Bristol. Thank you.
