Usually TGI Fridays is where the whole family is looking forwards to go, we're a family of 6 with a majority of us are proud carnivores. This time in we didn't enjoy our visit, in the past we used to go to the original branch in Reading and we never had the same experience We've sat down and ordered our food, started with ordering one of the promotions which was the Endless Appetizers, the waiter took our order and went away only to come back 20min later telling us that actually the endless appetizer starts only at 7pm - now we had a bunch of hungry kids and the mains were already cooking, when asked why didn't he tell us straight away and why it took 20min to let us know the waiter just said that he has 7 other tables to serve- not a great customer service, we certainly didn't feel special. We spoke with his manager who processed a quick starter for us and delayed the mains however when we got the mains the burgers were dry and it wasn't the quality of food we all remembered TGI for. We also ordered the duck salad which came with so little duck that I can' understand how they can charge what they do - we were already not feeling comfortable so decided to let it pass I've also ordered a beer which I never got So all in all, not a great meal - I'm sure it'll taken quite some time for us to visit TGI again (and when we will we'll go to Caversham not the Oracle)
We had a reservation at 2000 on Saturday evening, however we didn’t actually stay for food. We arrived ten minutes early and were told to get a drink from the bar - no problem at all. I frequented the loo, which was fine, however I had to walk through the dining area which had napkins (which had obviously been dropped) all over the floor. Not the end of the world. I came back to the bar but my partner still hasn’t been served. The restaurant was quietening off and there were only one group of people (three) being served apart from us at this point in time. We waited fifteen minutes. We finally have our drinks order, only to be served a Pron Star Martini in a brandy glass and coke glass; we were told they didn’t have the glasses after the drink was given to us. The fruit had seen better days. We paid and proceeded to watch another group of three, who had just entered, be served their drinks... in the glasses we were told they did not have. We stood. And stood. And stood. No one came to us. We left after 25 minutes, completely fed up and unimpressed with the complete lack of professionalism or customer service. This is the most appalling experience we have had in years. Needless to say we will not be back and will absolutely not be recommending this place. It’s a shame, as I’ve never been to TGI Fridays before.
Our starter came out.and it hadn’t been cooked properly.
Drinks at the bar were really expensive - £12 for one gin and tonic and 2 comes from the tap which were pretty flat and tasted watered down. Took ages to get us seated especially when we could see more than six empty tables all ready to go. Shame really.
The table we had was by the front door and bar. It was very cold as the door was opening all the time and to close to the bar and people were pushing past us all the time
Perfect place to celebrate my birthday with my friends! The atmosphere was brilliant and loved the birthday cake and the song - so generous from them!
They accommodated us well as we were 15 mins late for booking and they were meant to be stopping orders by the time we arrived but still managed to serve us, shortish blonde woman very nice and helpful.
It was my birthday on 5.1.64 the previous night I went to your TGI Friday at caversham where the food was horrible. Tonight the food was excellent, as was the service. Your waitress went out of her way to accommodate my allergies. Well done and Thank you
Dude&slow staff will not rush back
We were shown straight to our seats when we arrived however we then had to ask someone to take our order our starters came before our drinks, the restaurant did not have the full ingredients for our starter my main course choice was not available I dined at 7pm so not late on the whole I was very disappointed with both the food and the service and will not be returning in a hurry which is a shame as this Fridays has previously been a restaurant we enjoy.
I felt that the Californian club sandwich was a little disappointing. At the same time, I felt that the prices were a little expensive in terms of value for money.
Only downside was the music was incredibly loud, but the food is amazing, so it’s worth putting up with. It was my birthday so it was a special meal.
Food was over and hour and also they didn’t know how to use the e voucher and we waited a further 20mins to pay our bill
Great first time visit to TGI’s for us both, food and service was fab will definitely return
After our order was taken we were told 5/10 mins later no rump steak, then after our starters we were told no onion rings. The our steaks were way over cooked. The manager did give us a discount and the staff were very apologetic, however for a chain restaurant I don’t expect them to be out of some of the main staples of this restaurant chain.
The drinks were slow to come out and the bill was quite high. I did notice some promotions in the website however these were not advertised anywhere that we could see in the restraunt.
Nice food, good quality, just a little pricey for what it is.
Lovely waitress very friendly & good atmosphere
Small portions, birthday request on reservation was ignored, expensive meals and wrong items charged for and took 15mins to get sorted.
Good location, Christmas cocktails were tasty. Food was a massive dissapointment, went as a group of 4 and 3 meals arrived with the 4th (a salad) taking at least 15 minutes longer. It was missing half the ingredients from the menu and tasted slightly rancid, drenched in vinegar. Waitress was dismissive of the issues - 'not my problem I don't cook it' - when brought up and was told manager would come over but he never did. Would return for a drink, definitely not the food.
Another enjoyable xmas meal from your xmas menu. Very good value for money.
The sausage in both hotdogs ordered had the texture of plastic and were quite hard, I don’t know if that means that it was undercooked.
No vegetarian option but they managed to russell up something. You could not fault the staff.
