Food was nice, the spicy rice is very disappointing. Costs £2 and is obviously micro rice, it’s awful.
The service we had was frankly, terrible. It took an extremely long time for our orders to be taken and for our food to get to us and the restaurant wasn't that busy. It was our friend's birthday and we had requested a cake as we knew that TGI's usually put on a great birthday announcement. However, the staff who performed the song were unenthusiastic and we couldn't even hear them. I normally have a great time at TGI's but this time was a let down.
The place was very smokey when we arrived.. everything else was spot on
Was disappointed that when I asked for duck salad was told they had no duck - had crispy noodle salad instead which was ok but way to spicy to enjoy properly
Service was slow, took over 40 minutes before getting our food ordered. Ordered a drink with our meal which we never got and had to ask again for. Staff all seemed stressed
We all had a wonderful night on the occasion on y daughter's 21st Birthday on 21st Feb. 2018. I had booked a table for 14 via a phone call to the venue, The process was very easy and the member of staff, very helpful. On arrival, we were warmly welcomed and had a drink at the bar before sitting down to dinner. The food was delicious, the staff attentive. polite and helpful. Although we were the last customers to leave, this did not appear to be a problem even though it was well after closing time! I would have no hesitation in recommending TGI Friday's at the Gate in Newcastle, for either a general night out, or, for a special celebration. Alexandra Bale
Suffered Food poisoning from a chicken pasta dish very disappointed as usually love this place.
Waitress very helpful and friendly. Food was very nice as always
The man who served us, Michael, was so nice but as for the other waiters who we interacted with in the evening (two men) appalling attitudes. My partner got a £9.99 endless appetiser and I the bruschetta, and the waiter, whom I think was the manager actually tried to catch us out asking are you’s sharing this, and when I said I have ordered a different starter, he said ah just checking because I would’ve charged yous both in a very unpleasant way, I felt like children getting told off for something we hadn’t even thought of doing. When asked if we could change seats because of the draft another waiter didn’t even stop to respond he carried on walking saying ‘no’ bluntly even though the restaurant was almost vacant. Then when asked where the ‘endless’ appetisers were after 20 minutes of waiting from the first batch, the same waiter with the skater boy hair made it very complicated when all we asked was when would they be ready, then asking us if we ordered which we clearly had, and then mocking us saying ‘it shouldn’t be this complicated’, I could have not-surprisingly said the same back. Also £1.50 to add a cheese slice on a £10.50, very small burger is ridiculous considering it was plain, but I guess that isn’t anything to do with service. Overall had a very unwelcoming experience with the staff and deffinately will not be returning with such rude behaviour.
Excellent service from Phil - small problem with one of the meals sorted quickly. Brilliant night
Very slow service. Over 2.5 hours for 2 courses. Restaurant very smoky and poor atmosphere
I was very disappointed as love the food and cocktails and was looking forward to an enjoyable evening however on arrival I was told by a start member he had cancelled our table which we were not late for and the only table free was a table in a place that was walk passed by staff and customers constantly and a large table which were celebrating a birthday. My husband and I very rarely get the opportunity to go out but when we do always head to tgis but in the metro centre. This was the first time we tried this branch. I asked if there was any other table but there was not so instead of enjoying a three course meal with cocktails I had a started and asked for the bill. An overall very disappointing experience.
Kids food is very poor for the cost, pizza had practically no topping and wraps only had 2 very small wraps. Get a lot more for your money from other similar chain restaurants. Even if they were like other kids meals with the drink and dessert would feel like better value. Staff were brilliant though and made my daughter perfectly embarrassed on her birthday so thank you.
I visited the TGI Fridays inside the Gate in Newcastle with my sister. We pre booked the table and were seated quickly, but made to feel very uncomfortable immediately by a staff member who proceeded to tell her colleague that our waiter was unhappy about our arrival and didnt want us to be seated. The other staff member explained that it was a pre-booked reservation. This was done infront of us and made us uncomfortable as though we were at fault for the issue. Our waiter arrived and took our order and served us with drinks. The female member of staff who had earlier made the comments about us being allowed into the restaurant then placed cleaning products along the edge of our seating area at eye level and facing over our food. I have been to many TGI's throughout the country and it has always been a positive experience, but if disgruntled staff were to act this way to someone who had never visited it would stop them returning. The attitude the female staff member had towards us made us uncomfortable from the moment we arrived and made us leave earlier than we would have liked to because we felt unwelcome. Its a shame that our visit was cut short because of this reason but we did not want to be made to feel unwanted so left after one drink and main meal to find somewhere else to continue our evening at.
Lovely food, server James was great only complaint the cold draft from the front door.
Good for a family option. Killer cocktails.
A lovely evening staff friendly and helpful service excellent but the restaurant itself was too cold and my Mum had to sit with her scarf on
Very pleasant experience. A member of our party has very poor mobility and the table reserved for us was not really suitable - we were moved immediately with no fuss which was much appreciated. Very accommodating and friendly service
Pre match ritual every week for me and my son. Can’t be beaten! (unlike Newcastle)
