Great meal and friendly staff first rate
The service was outstanding. Many thanks to the team at the Gate TGI Fridays!
Amazing food however let down slightly by the service and atmosphere. When making the booking we were told they would make a fuss over my friend (for her hen party). We didn't request this however after being offered it, we looked forward to it so we were disappointed when it didn't happen at all. Also we were running late due to our bus down from Scotland and I called to let them know which they said was fine however when we arrived, and despite the restaurant being almost empty, they commented on us being late.
very good food
Steak was quite chewy Atmosphere was quite bad. TGIs is meant to be quite lively and I’ve been to others and it just was not the same here. Felt as though there wasn’t much staff on so service was very slow for us to order. I ordered a frozen cocktail and it melted as soon as I took it to my table which I think is because they used a warm glass for it. Not very good
Our table was near main door which was often open. There was a constant cold draft and the smell of smoke from people smoking outside the main doors of the Gate. Although food and service were great, this really took the shine of our dining experience which we don’t often do.
TGI Fridays in the UK are just not up to par when compared with most other places. The food seems to be consistent, just consistently lower calibre. We go knowing what to expect, and it works for us when we want a quick meal. It is cheap, but the value just isn't there. If they knocked £2 off of everything and repriced drinks, they would be more honestly positioned. Still better than the average Brit pub though. As far as atmosphere, they need to spread the tables out more. There are unused tables elsewhere, but they cram people into that tiny front area.... presumably to make it easier on the waiters/waitresses. Space! Spread em out! The service was great on our last visit though - really have to commend the guy for that. Top notch.. The waiter really helped me keep my two young girls happy and provided just the right amount of presence. Left him a small tip for this reason. Thanks again (I forgot your name... sorry!)
The food was amazing and the service was outstanding! The waiter who attended us was really lovely and friendly. We will definitely be back soon!
Clear lack of staff. However no apologies for the poor service. Disorganisation has to ask if they would bring our meals as it was taking so long. No one refilled our drinks. Severely disappointed.
It was a shame that we had to ask 3 times for the bill (I think she was new) and it was a shame that the lady two tables over threw up in the floor... Everything else otherwise was perfect and up to usual TGI standards!
Service was excellent
love it every time!
Great food and drink. Great service.
The staff at TGI Fridays Newcastle (the Gate) where outstanding! They made us feel very welcome and even presented my husband with a surprise cake as we were here to celebrate his birthday! We will be back!
The waitress was tired and seemed completely uninterested. The only time she offered any fake smile was when we were paying at the end (assimingly to get a tip- which we did give out of politeness). The food itself was good; however, I believe it is overpriced and so will not be coming back. For the same price we could have been to a non-chain restaurant with an authentic atmosphere. The one here seemed very forced. Overall we were not impressed.
Very disappointing visit. When trying to book a table over phone was told they were too busy to take bookings so I managed to book on line. On arrival at 9.30 the place was half empty. Our orders were taken quickly. However we had to look for staff to take drink orders. The bar staff were clearly trying to finish early as they were washing the floor right next to our table. As the bar is raised the bucket of water and mop was right next to our heads. The table next to us had finished they meals they tried to order drinks but were told the bar was closed it was only 10.15. The email I received stated we could stay at the table till 11. We never got the opportunity to order dessert and were asked if we wanted the bill. I said we would wait. The waitress brought it over shortly after. We had planned to stay at the restaurant till 11 but this was not going to be the case. So instead of a leisurely meal on New year's eve we were fed and ussured out within the hour. TGI is not the cheapest of restaurants but ours kids do like to go, however we will not be returning to TGI Fridays and am sure other restaurants could offer a much better service, after spending the best part of £100. Very disappointing.
Understood it was nye, but staff weren’t very attentive. Asked for a table which had a little room and got sandwiched between to tables. Made the reservation 7+ hours before so could of seated us a little better.
The staff were friendly and polite the service was good but the food was not nice at all the mains and sides served on the same plate was off putting piled right up the taste of main courses and sides were disgusting
We had a very pleasant visit, we did enjoy the food and atmoshere. We had a wonderfull diner.
Service was poor, food ordered was wrong amended to suit the company and not what the menu suggested. Won't be going back.
Amazing food, would definitely come back again!
Our server was fantastic! Can’t quite remember his name but he had blonde hair as far as I can remember, he was brilliant
Won't be back. Kids menu poor. Food itself poor. Bringing out stuff for the kids to do from summer and halloween. Place was empty. Not a family place at all.
Excellent service well done
