Leave room for freshly prepared desserts like the brownie obsession, chocolate fudge fixation and the cookie dough sundae.
Our waiter (I apologise, I've forgotten his name) was great. He was attentive and very helpful, especially as I have an allergy. It was my friends first time at TGI's (she's 36!) and she loved it and will definitely be coming back, as will I.
I have some serious concerns about our evening at TGI Fridays where we spent a significant amount of money. 1) We had a booking for 35 people for a work event. When we turned up the seating was split across 5 tables that were not really conducive to our large group - as event coordinator had I know the group would be so split I would have arranged a seating plan appropriately. As it was people arrived ad-hoc and were having to sit wherever there was space and that created an issue as I was hosting a team of American guests who didn't know our other team members very well. It created a bit of an awkward set up. The table planning was very poor we couldn't even take a full group photo. 2) The wait on drinks was entirely unacceptable - there was one bar staff member handling our drinks orders. Would you normally have 1 bar staff looking after 35 people/5 tables? People started to order 2 drinks at a time to avoid the 20+ minute wait on drinks. 3) The meals were of inconsistent quality - the salmon dishes came out cold and had to be returned. A steak meal was also returned and had to be re-done. 4) The tables were not being cleared quickly enough. Again there was one member of staff looking after our group - getting him around to take the drinks orders and food orders resulted in some tables receiving their starters before the last table had even ordered. I have organised about 4 events this month for our group and this was by far the worst. The staff themselves were friendly and trying their best but the ratio of staff to our group was woefully low and this had a negative impact on our experience. The table split into 4 booths and 1 larger table also made our event less convivial and created some social awkwardness for our overseas guests. I would be very reluctant to book another large group event at TGI Friday's.
Our booking was for 12 people (only 8 made it) and when we turned up at midday the doors were still closed. When opened just after 12 we were seated. We ordered drinks and asked if we could order food at the same time, to save time as we were on lunch break, but told no as the drinks have to come out first. When we ordered our food two, out the eight, ordered starters which eventually arrived at 13:15, 1 hour and 15 minutes after entry. When asked if the mains could come out at the same time we were told “no” again and the remaining six had to wait whilst the two ate their starters. The food was ok but not worth the money as some of us grabbed some ore food whilst walking though town. The atmosphere was quite as the restaurant was at 25% capacity and it seemed like all the bookings were taken for midday knowing full well that there would be issues taking all the orders at the same time. Our other group, received their food after we left, approx. 14:00, so compared to them we did alright. I booked this for my team and rest assure will not be booking again and making sure those who work in our company approx. 2k employees, chose twice before they part with their hard earned cash for a mediocre lunch. Service needs to improve to warrant the £200 we spent between the eight of us. This the first time I have been compelled to write a review as restaurants in South water will not survive if the service isn’t right.
This is not our nearest TGI Friday restaurant, but by far the best. The atmosphere is fantastic, very friendly staff.
Service is a bit slow sometimes, we waited 25 minutes just to get a coke and the food took another 30 minutes and that was in the middle of a week at 2.30 with only 2 people
We waited 15 minutes to order drinks. The service was unfriendly and slow. Our food was cold. The children’s pasta looked really unappetising and the cheese on the top was thick and the pasta was too cold to melt it. Surely you have Parmesan on pasta? My salad consisted of lettuce and fried onion which was cremated. We didn’t bother with desserts as our bill came to £82 and we had enough. All in all, we won’t be back. We will stick to F and B’s. Our meals there usually cost about £50 and it’s much better.
Poor service, quality of food was poor - cheesy nachos only had a light sprinkling of cheese. Long wait for drinks and for any attention - had to get up and ask for the children’s drinks. Then told we had to vacate the table with only ten minutes notice - we hadn’t been told this when we booked or were seated.
On the night we complained about the warrior fries and the salad and spoke with the manager. The warrior fries tasted horrific. I am not over describing this in saying that they tasted like vomit and not blue monterey cheese. Both my son and I tried them (me only a small taste) and they were inedible so we swapped them for normal fries. Since then my son has been sick and is now off school. The salad was limp and uninviting. We received a reduction in the bill. The rest of the food was nice, but now that my son is ill and missing school this is not a good outcome. I have to commend the manager who spoke to us and sorted things out. Good customer service. Service could have been better. From order to food on the table nearly 50mins. The table to our side arrived approx 5-10mins after us, waited on and served 15mins before we got our food. They only had a main course, and out first food was main course too. So quite comparable. If our salad was anything to go by then ours was sitting under the heat lamps for a long time. Could have been much nicer, but let down by illness and although good, very slow service. Shame
The restaurant had ran out of Prosecco, which I think was disappointing especially given the time of year and the fact that we had made a booking about 4 weeks in advance. Overall the food and service was fabulous.
We rarely had anyone coming over asking if we wanted to order and took an hour for us to order just drinks. We were then only visited my our waitress a couple of times and we had to ask someone else to be able to order food.
Great food, great service, service was swift. Thank you
Great food, lovely atmosphere. Brilliant and attentive staff
Very miserable waiter, really sounded like he couldn't be bothered and you could clearly see other waiters/waitresses giving a far batter service. Also since my meal Monday I have had a horrible sickness bug.
There was no one to greet us when we arrived, it felt like there was too many of us so staff didn't appreciate the business, the bar staff, one in particular was just rude. He approached one of my guests to serve her and instead of saying how can I help you or what would you like or who's next he just went "yeah". It was almost like speaking was too much trouble for him. Some food came out lukewarm. Although when we asked for things the things came out very quickly there wasn't a lot of attention to the tables. We had Christmas crackers on the tables and the rubbish was just left there while we ate. A book TGI's because I imagined it would be a good night for children and adults, I felt pretty disappointed, and will take the 30 paying customers elsewhere next time
Had a lovely time celebrating my husband's birthday. Can't thank the staff enough. Our server put the biggest smile on our 2 year old daughters face
One main course arrived but not as thought it would look or taste like Manager did take it of the main bill
Service was shocking!!! We Pre Booked a 3 course Christmas menu for 6, we pre booked our food and still had to wait an hour for starters. Drinks took ages to come. Then they ran out of one of the desserts we had pre ordered??? Had an apology off the manager but that was it. Food was great service was not.
Wife is a Coeliac and was patronised by the Manager as having a "Little Food Allergy". When ordering my wife had to have her order taken by the Manager who was clueless to what Gluten Free even means. Apparently the kitchen could sprinkle on some coating that would make them OK. Out of the whole menu my wife had the option of a tough old steak and plain salad which is outrageous considering Coeliacs Disease has been around a long time. Won't visit again
We waited about 1 hour. The restaurant wasn’t too busy, we could see the food that was ready to get taken to customers sat on the bar for ages. Child’s pizza was warm on a hot plate, my ribs were cold and dry and the prawn skier over cooked , cold and dry . Children’s veg sticks were forgotten , got them after I requested them. Carrots were not peeled and very dry , most likely in the fridge for a very long time :( we didnt eat them as they were not looking appealing or fresh ! On the positive sides were the toilets, clean and bright. The service was friendly. Two days before we ate at Franky and Bennies and I think I would rather eat there again , I am sorry but I was expecting more of TGIF after seeing the prices of the dishes . I could not recommend this restaurant to friends and I don’t think I would return again .
Took along time for food about 50 minutes
We went for our sisters birthday and we all said we'll go again what a fantastic place nice food and such good service the waiters and waitresses defo make the experience better 😆
Really enjoyed the food , my steak came quite bloody after I asked for it medium well , sent it back and it came back perfect
Service was abit slow considering we we’re advised we only had 2 hours to eat
Our server was awesome! Didn’t catch his name but he went out of his way to make sure our birthday was enjoyable! Thanks a million!!
birthday meal for my son with his friends. They had a fab time and loved their food! the staff sang for him which he said he was embarrassed about but i think secretly loved! thanks guys x
