About Swan Hotel Bar & Grill
The Swan Hotel, Bar & Grill received an extensive refurbishment in 2016 to transform this beautiful 15th century building into its current glory.
Every inch of The Swan has been lovingly restored to create a stylish setting to eat, drink and stay in Maldon.
Our beautiful bar area offers more than just somewhere to come and enjoy a drink. We have a carefully selected wine list and a varied cocktail menu too. If you prefer a pint, then we stock many exceptional beers, including locally brewed options and guest ales.
Our restaurant provides somewhere comfortable and relaxed to appreciate food of the highest quality with friends and family. Our Head Chef has created a menu of varied dishes made from seasonal produce, which has been locally sourced where possible. Our grill produces mouthwatering flavours that really should be tasted to be believed.
1st visit, food and service were both very good
As I only booked the Cygnet room I cannot answer the above question properly. But when help was needed everyone was available to help us in any way. That is why I have booked the venue for next March 2020
Good service. Attentive but not intrusive. Great food. Will definitely come again!
Nice choice of food, particularly the starters which provided 3 of. Ussith a nice summer lunch menu.
We had a lovely meal! Food was fab so was the service.. only little quibble would be that the table of 2 beside us was extremely close! However it wouldn’t stop me returning
have visited before and been impressed however, on this occasion the food was just 'ok'.my son and I had ribs and they were average and chicken with pop corn was inadequate but, the main problem was service was very slow. we waited an hour from our starters being cleared to our mains arriving! Other dinners seemed to get their food quickly enough.
We had a great time. Delicious food and wine, great service. We’ll definitely be back.
Delicious food, lovely staff and overall a fab experience. Our third dining visit, and will definitely be coming again!
Chicken was dry and steak was wrong
As always we had a lovely meal.
Liked the menu before it was changed, not much on main courses that I liked and the chicken Brest was very nice but the sauce was awful. My husband got med well steak and asked for med but did not complain as staff are so lovely and we were with friends so bit embarrassing to complain. But all in all a lovely evening
This was our first visit to the Swan and we were pleasantly surprised . The service was very good and the food was very tasty. We Will definitely return.
Food very good however we were a bit disappointed that, after asking when I booked, if you would have tapas on, we were told that you couldn't do tapas as you had not got much left.
Beautiful venue and a promising menu, with mostly polite staff. However there were some niggles on my visit that brought it down. Both food and drinks menus are interesting with decent crowd-pleasing choices. The margarita was great, powerful and punchy. Other cocktails were bland. Starters were very good (hallou, teriyaki salmon). But mains were disappointing. The Swan burger was very greasy and our friend couldn't finish it. The chateaubriand for 2 is a standard in steakhouses, but at £58 this one was poor value for money. Just three slices of meat each, chips left to sweat in metal containers, a few tomatoes and one sad little mushroom did not hit the mark at all. Desserts are a small selection, but despite that the only one I wanted wasn't available. The lemon and lime mess was unbalanced, with not enough meringue for the curd. The cheesecake was sickly sweet. On service it was fine, but one did come back from a break reeking of cigarettes which is unpleasant, and we had to ask for tap water three times before it came. A meal for 4 cost £190 with a few drinks, and I didn't feel it was good value for money. It's good food, but pricing itself as outstanding food and it's not quite there.
Lovely Sunday meal with family will go back again. Good service throughout
loved it perfect setting for a farthers day meal the bar service was excellent while we were waiting for a table and the table service service was brill too will be coming back
Thank you so much for hosting our murder mystery. Staff were very helpful and attentive. Food was tasty and prompt x
Lovely food and very well presented. We had to wait a long time between courses but it didn’t matter for our party. As far as I could see we were the only group eating! One of our group did get her dessert quick as she had told the waitress she had to be gone in half an hour. Couldn’t fault the waitress but I wonder how long you have to wait between courses when they are busy.
Amazing roast dinner with superb Yorkshire puddings. The children devoured their meal. Thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Will definitely return.
Lovely meal and good value for money
Amazing! The staff were brilliant and so was the food. Group of 13 and everyone there will be going back at some point. A truly great evening
Had 2 roast dinners the lamb was not edible sent it back for pork it came back With only 2slices and it was all cold we complained and they knocked of £5 which was not the point we didnt want any deserts After that so paid and left
