About Sussex Hotel
A showcase of locally sourced ingredients and stunning food creations from our team of award winning chefs. Chris Wilson leads a new team of experienced and highly trained food experts.
The manager went out of his way to accommodate our requirements and the service was fantastic. The Sussex is highly recommended.
My first visit to the Sussex Plenty of parking at rear I’d ordered a table for 4 and the setting was v good I ordered Scotch fillet steak med/rare It was large and cooked to perfection Service at the bar for food and drink was at 12-1pm easy Yes I would recommend the Sussex and would go again
My husband and I ordered a steak each served Medium. Unfortunately they both arrived more Well done than medium. Given that we waited 40 minutes for the steaks to arrive we weren't prepared to hang around for another 40 minutes for replacements .The quality of the steak was excellent and probably that's what saved the dish.PS don't serve a side salad if it's been sitting around for ages.
Nice outdoor atmosphere for dining
Lovely beer garden
Great service. Very helpful staff and management
Thanks to Chad and his team for a fantastic day. Service was spot on!
Our schnitzels were really good but the salad it came with could be improved with a bit of dressing. Service was excellent.
Although we have dined at The Sussex previously last evening was not quite up to the standard due to extremely heavy bookings and staff not quite being on top of things which affected service. Food was still brilliant although bar costs are a trifle high to compensate food costs.
Nice place and food but very noisy. There was no where to sit away from the music. We love music but when eating out with friends, people need a place with more ‘background music’ to be able to chat. We assumed we would be in the restaurant area and would be a bit quieter than the front bar or beer garden. I think you would find an older crowd (which was most of the people having a meal) would stay longer (drinking and spending more) if there was a slightly quieter spot.
While my fish was cooked perfectly therecwas almost nothing else on the plate. If there was a seniors duscount we would be more likely to return. The staff were very friendly.
Lovely bright hotel. Great beer garden that totally suited the needs the Adelaide Club Thirty.. Booking was simple. Staff very relaxed friendly and polite. All good comments abot food and venue. We would like to discuss using for our regular Thursday lunch functions. Thank you very much.
We were a group of 4. The two males had the rump and it was fine. The two females had lamp rump with mashed peas and roast potatoes. A big plate with very little to eat. The potatoes were not roasted. There wasn't any salad on the plates. We were left hungry and had to eat later. What a disappointment. No salad or veg bar now.
Overpriced ordinary pub grub. No better than the last time I ate here.
Local pub that we return to often. New menu. Nice cocktails
Hello everything was great except your extremely poor airconditioning system which felt like it wasn't on and for this reason i would never book another function at the Sussex as it caused me great embarrassment as many of my friends complained of the heat and it was a normal expectation that the hotel would be cool!
No complaints, I had the vegetarian meal and my friend had the fish and chips. No issues, we will be back again. I didn't need dinner this evening, it was that filling!
Good food, nice atmosphere
Went for dinner with a group of friends and was pleasantly surprised! Dining area and bar have been nicely renovated, menu choices were great as was the food. Only downside is the kitchen closed at 9pm on a Friday night and we didn't get to order dessert.
The whole luncheon went perfectly. It was my Dad's 89 birthday and he loved it. He is a bit hard of hearing so the table you put us on was perfect. thank you. Have been to the Sussex quite a few times and have never had a bad meal or bad service.. .
Could do with fixing uneven dip in pavers in court yard Nearly went over on ankle and so did the manager trying to setup band for the evening!
Very positive comments from all of the 8 people at our table. We will come again, thank you
Sadly very disappointed this time. Serving sizes were extremely small. They could not supply my fish selection and my roo was served without any sauce and only a small amount. Damper bread rolls were cold. Your prices for average quality wines are over the top. You are a pub pretending to be a quality restaurant. Have fond memories of past meals there.....another era
Don't serve my husbands beer of choice or his 2nd choice
Friendly staff great food. Our steaks were tender and cooked to perfection. Will come again.
