About Stravaigin Restaurant
A Glasgow institution Stravaigin was established 24 years ago with a think global eat local mantra. Stravaigin is an old scots word meaning to wander and that’s what the kitchen does creating a menu full of culinary wanderlust. Using the finest sourced produce from Scottish farmers and coastal waters the kitchen hits hard with spicy inventive dishes.
Steamed buns with soft shell crabs and sambal oelek, an assorted Scottish fish bowl with Pernod and fennel broth topped with a curried egg, Scottish venion osso bucco, Loch Fyne mackerel with rhubarb and pear kimchi. Stravaigin also offers vegetarian and vegan dishes with Syrian lentil and mint koftas and rose pickled onions, or wild Scottish mushroom baklava if the season is right. Squirrel, rook, goat and sea urchin have been known to make it onto the menu on ‘special nights’ such as the DNA Dinner, the Phylum Feast or the Weird and Wild Extravaganza.
The wine list is just as well travelled picking the best from sustainable, organic and biodynamic wines.
Drinking wine in the restaurant, meeting pals for cocktails in the café bar or al fresco dining on the pavement. Stravaigin has a lot to offer. On a cold and windy day in Glasgow, snuggle in around the stove, eating our haggis and nursing a whisky. Beautifully sunny and our doors will be fully open letting the rare Glasgow rays bathe you while you sip your Grillo and nibble on a Mediterranean platter. Bands, poets, writers, artists, gourmands, and gluttons - all can be found in Stravaigin!
Lunch, brunch, dinner, cocktails, wine or beer - Stravaigin abides and delights.
We had our wedding reception here and everybody and everything was completely perfect. Couldn't recommend the entire team highly enough. We've had so many compliments from all our guests on how good the food and service were. An especially big thanks to Abbie who was absolutely amazing with everything and organised the day so well.
Great night. However when we ordered the monkfish, it came and it was tiny!! We complained, only for the waitress to say that she will pass are remarks onto the chef. We received no apology, or alternative. I think when you are paying £23 for a bit of fish it should be bigger than a 50 pence piece. Won’t be back.
Lovely food and very attentive service. We're very happy that we chose to book. A lovely birthday evening.
Really enjoyable meal, nice setting and the food was truly superb.
Both food and service were first class, Stravaigin is one of our favourites and they have never let us down- consistently excellent.
We enjoyed a fabulous meal
Celebratory dinner with a friend who I hadn’t seen for years. I wanted to show off Glasgow & Stravaigin didn’t disappoint. Hake was great , dessert fantastic. Lovely, friendly server. Stravaigin, always reliable
Amazing food 😀
Another brilliant evening at Stravaigin. Brilliant food. Highlighted the best of Scottish dining to my international friends.
Delicious and well presented food, but portions could stand to be larger. Great service
The food was again loved by all and overall great evening. Many thanks.
Beautifully presented and delicious meal. Party of 9 and everyone very happy with their dishes. Overall terrific value for such high quality. Hadn't been in years and it remains excellent.
Apart from the very loud and inebriated lady in the next table everything was first class.
Great venue for group meal.
Excellent service, good food and atmosphere. Last visited 22 years ago, will not be as long until next time!
Delicious food, we all had an adventure without leaving our seats. Brilliant and friendly staff. The steak was stunning. Thanks very much for a really memorable evening, can't wait to come back again.
An excellent lunch, beautifully prepared and the service was very good. The house wine is also very good.
Great evening. Lovely food.
A great dining experience
I’ve been a few times now and I am always very impressed with the food and the brilliant service provided.
Food was excellent quality. Wine of good quality at reasonable price. Only small complaint was sitting as a table of three at the end of a long table in the centre of the restaurant.
A wonderful meal, witty and attentive service. A lovely company night out
The Piper/Entertainer was excellent - brilliant performance, great atmosphere, just the right amount of entertainment. The only negative thing which you probably can't help is the accoustics - it was all but impossible to have conversations because or the noise.
The GUSRC had an amazing time at our annual Christmas lunch , food was exceptional and the personal touch given to our staff with dietary requirements was the best we have ever experienced. We will be re-booking for this coming Christmas and will highly recommend it to others.
