About Stravaigin Restaurant
A Glasgow institution Stravaigin was established 24 years ago with a think global eat local mantra. Stravaigin is an old scots word meaning to wander and that’s what the kitchen does creating a menu full of culinary wanderlust. Using the finest sourced produce from Scottish farmers and coastal waters the kitchen hits hard with spicy inventive dishes.
Steamed buns with soft shell crabs and sambal oelek, an assorted Scottish fish bowl with Pernod and fennel broth topped with a curried egg, Scottish venion osso bucco, Loch Fyne mackerel with rhubarb and pear kimchi. Stravaigin also offers vegetarian and vegan dishes with Syrian lentil and mint koftas and rose pickled onions, or wild Scottish mushroom baklava if the season is right. Squirrel, rook, goat and sea urchin have been known to make it onto the menu on ‘special nights’ such as the DNA Dinner, the Phylum Feast or the Weird and Wild Extravaganza.
The wine list is just as well travelled picking the best from sustainable, organic and biodynamic wines.
Drinking wine in the restaurant, meeting pals for cocktails in the café bar or al fresco dining on the pavement. Stravaigin has a lot to offer. On a cold and windy day in Glasgow, snuggle in around the stove, eating our haggis and nursing a whisky. Beautifully sunny and our doors will be fully open letting the rare Glasgow rays bathe you while you sip your Grillo and nibble on a Mediterranean platter. Bands, poets, writers, artists, gourmands, and gluttons - all can be found in Stravaigin!
Lunch, brunch, dinner, cocktails, wine or beer - Stravaigin abides and delights.
Great night. Staff very helpful . Only slightly negative comment is that I'll take the oppurtunity to say menu choice UPSTAIRS has been reduced over past year .-no Nasi Goreng or fish/chips now. Overalll still a great place to visit both upstairs and downstairs. Thanks
our food and experience were outstanding!
We had an excellent evening at your restaurant. The food was superb and the service outstanding. I would happily recommend to friends and family
The food was superb!
My ratings say it all. Five star all round. Thank you for looking after us so well.
Très bon resto, à découvrir.
Had lovely meal good service and good food
One of the main reasons we travel to Glasgow from Aberdeen is for the fantastic food and friendly, happy service we get at Stravaigin. We have recommended to many over the years and no one has ever been disappointed.
It was amazing, the perfect quality food and cooking, and the warm atmosphere!!!
Wonderful graduation celebration
The food was really good with an excellent choice on the a la carte menu, but it was the friendliness and the quality of the service that made this a 5 star visit. We've been before and will plan to come back!
Thanks so much for a lovely lunch with fantastic service. We had family visiting from Edinburgh, and the 10 of us had a really great time. Looking forward to visiting again soon.
The food was lovely and the vegan members of our party were well catered to.
Absolutely amazing restaurant! Outstanding service and food that I will be talking about for years to come!
Good food and atmosphere, would certainly visit again in the future.
Graduation party for our daughter was excellent. Well looked after before and on the day itself. Thank you.
Great service and although the food choice was limited, this may have been due to a Sunday lunch menu, what we had was enjoyable.
My partner and I had a delicious 3 course meal from the a La carte menu and the experience was made even more brilliant due to the kitchen altering the menu to suit my strange allergies! The menu was edited and printed out and for once I didn't feel like an awkward diner sifting through all the options and having to ask a million questions. The staff were very friendly, approachable and knowledgeable. Well done and thank you!
Moved us seats when we pointed out a seat was broken
Seated next to toilet, obvious smell not great. Starters lovely. Ordered cod as main. At £19 I received the tiniest portion ever. Spoke to manager who removed from bill. Spoiled meal somewhat. Service was bit slow. Overall disappointed unfortunately. Was special occasion to celebrate us all becoming teachers - put a bit od a damper on it.
Our meal was wonderful and the staff couldn't do enough for our large group of 30+. Thank you for your hospitality!
Great food & service
Lovely food - Hake from Shetland stood out especially. I would also recommend the Tarka Dahl. Service was excellent.
Excellent food in a relaxed atmosphere. the service is great, too!
