About Stravaigin Restaurant
A Glasgow institution Stravaigin was established 24 years ago with a think global eat local mantra. Stravaigin is an old scots word meaning to wander and that’s what the kitchen does creating a menu full of culinary wanderlust. Using the finest sourced produce from Scottish farmers and coastal waters the kitchen hits hard with spicy inventive dishes.
Steamed buns with soft shell crabs and sambal oelek, an assorted Scottish fish bowl with Pernod and fennel broth topped with a curried egg, Scottish venion osso bucco, Loch Fyne mackerel with rhubarb and pear kimchi. Stravaigin also offers vegetarian and vegan dishes with Syrian lentil and mint koftas and rose pickled onions, or wild Scottish mushroom baklava if the season is right. Squirrel, rook, goat and sea urchin have been known to make it onto the menu on ‘special nights’ such as the DNA Dinner, the Phylum Feast or the Weird and Wild Extravaganza.
The wine list is just as well travelled picking the best from sustainable, organic and biodynamic wines.
Drinking wine in the restaurant, meeting pals for cocktails in the café bar or al fresco dining on the pavement. Stravaigin has a lot to offer. On a cold and windy day in Glasgow, snuggle in around the stove, eating our haggis and nursing a whisky. Beautifully sunny and our doors will be fully open letting the rare Glasgow rays bathe you while you sip your Grillo and nibble on a Mediterranean platter. Bands, poets, writers, artists, gourmands, and gluttons - all can be found in Stravaigin!
Lunch, brunch, dinner, cocktails, wine or beer - Stravaigin abides and delights.
Excellent food and excellent service. Always enjoy the themed nights. Good value.
The food and service were excellent. The, normally great atmosphere was a little subdued but it was a Sunday evening so that is perhaps to be expected. Very good.
Food divine as usual and the wine was delicious.
Great place to spend an evening, outstanding food and drink.
It was all great but the vegetarian options were very dominated by middle eastern/spicy food. Not all vegetarians like spicy food. When we last came (a few years ago) your veggie menu was better.
Food was amazing, we’ll be back again very soon! Big thank you to all your staff.
The food was excellent when it came , although we waited 40 minutes between courses and complaint was handled very poorly at first. . I have to say the attitude spoiled our evening
We were asked a few too many times if we wanted to buy more drinks. Otherwise service was fine and food was fantastic.
Beautiful meal, had to wait a few times to get the attention of staff to order further drinks but enjoyed time there.
Great night out with lovely, attentive staff. Would absolutely recommend and will be back. Thank you!
great meal . the only downfall was not having the price and list of matching drinks beforehand
Everything about our visit to Stravaigin was excellent. The attention to detail from everyone was impressive. Tasting menu was really interesting and I thought all the flavour combinations were superb.
The flavours in the food are exceptional.
All four of us thoroughly enjoyed the different choices of cocktails food and wine we had.
The staff were excellent but clearly very busy with the result that the time to wait for courses was too long. We had been asked to vacate by 9pm and couldn't therefore order pudding.
All staff very friendly and efficient. Food very tasty 😋
The meal was fantastic but the desserts were to die for.
First visit here after hearing numerous good reviews, we were not disappointed. Great atmosphere, staff were attentive and friendly nothing was a problem. My wife had the salmon special, the salmon was lovely but she felt there was too much chilli in the salad, after numerous glasses of water and getting the feeling back in her lips she did enjoy the rest of her meal!
I booked a table for my husband’s birthday, having read various reviews. Our visit was everything we’d hoped it would be and more! As a Coeliac, and having advised before our visit, I was so extremely impressed to have my seperate menu already at our table. staff were so friendly and helpful and food was amazing. Thank you! Will definately be back when next in Glasgow
Excellent food; impeccable service; friendly atmosphere.
Food was delicious and felt extra special. We were delighted there was a separate vegan menu full of tantalising options.
All six of us chose to have brunch - very well cooked .
We had booked a table for the restaurant at 6pm on a weekday so we could take advantage of the pre-theatre offer. When we arrived we discovered that the restaurant section was closed so we were seated in the other area. When I asked the waitress for the pre theatre menu, she cheerily informed me it was only available downstairs. I had the same main I was planning on ordering from the pre-theatre menu for the same price as two courses should have been. Very disappointed and I likely won't be back.
over 2 hours and 15mins for 2 courses is rather excessive. We arrived early @ 19.25 and ordered within 15min of begin seated but it took 2 hours for food
Great food service very good thank you
