About Stravaigin Restaurant
A Glasgow institution Stravaigin was established 24 years ago with a think global eat local mantra. Stravaigin is an old scots word meaning to wander and that’s what the kitchen does creating a menu full of culinary wanderlust. Using the finest sourced produce from Scottish farmers and coastal waters the kitchen hits hard with spicy inventive dishes.
Steamed buns with soft shell crabs and sambal oelek, an assorted Scottish fish bowl with Pernod and fennel broth topped with a curried egg, Scottish venion osso bucco, Loch Fyne mackerel with rhubarb and pear kimchi. Stravaigin also offers vegetarian and vegan dishes with Syrian lentil and mint koftas and rose pickled onions, or wild Scottish mushroom baklava if the season is right. Squirrel, rook, goat and sea urchin have been known to make it onto the menu on ‘special nights’ such as the DNA Dinner, the Phylum Feast or the Weird and Wild Extravaganza.
The wine list is just as well travelled picking the best from sustainable, organic and biodynamic wines.
Drinking wine in the restaurant, meeting pals for cocktails in the café bar or al fresco dining on the pavement. Stravaigin has a lot to offer. On a cold and windy day in Glasgow, snuggle in around the stove, eating our haggis and nursing a whisky. Beautifully sunny and our doors will be fully open letting the rare Glasgow rays bathe you while you sip your Grillo and nibble on a Mediterranean platter. Bands, poets, writers, artists, gourmands, and gluttons - all can be found in Stravaigin!
Lunch, brunch, dinner, cocktails, wine or beer - Stravaigin abides and delights.
Great food, one main was a bit small compared to the other. The chill was great.lovely atmosphere, friendly service though a but lax towards the end.
Yet again another wonderful dining experience at Stravaigin. We were celebrating my husband's 50th birthday having celebrated his 40th birthday 10 years ago and we have visited for other special occasions. Food was outstanding and of high quality. We will be back.
Food was delicious and service impeccable. Keep up the great work!!!
Great food, staff were very helpful before and during the dinner - catering to a working dinner for 13. Will definitely be back!
Fantastic food . Friendly waiting staff.
Excellent staff and amazing food. My daughter's 21st and couldn't have made her feel more special. Thank you
As we had agreed on a set menu for a group of 22 I didn’t like that you had vegetables as extras. For a group of 22 this would have made the bill very messy. The service was excellent
Excellent atmosphere, welcoming staff, fantastic food, great wine and cocktails. We could not have had a better night. I wish we'd found you sooner! Thank you very much.
All my party were happy with the meal, atmosphere & service, we particularly enjoyed the organic wines.
An amazing restaurant. Would massively recommend to anyone visiting Glasgow
Lamb rump was excellent. Beetroot and cashew nut curry was full of flavour. Hake was cooked perfectly. Desserts were superb 👍
Not been here for a while, but it's still great! Service was friendly and efficient and the food sublime. If there's any criticism, it's down to the size of the haggis starter portion; just a wee bit big, but really delicious. Wouldn't say it detracted from our evening though; we will be back! Thanks!
With a Sri Lankan chef, you should run SL curry evenings more often - they must be popular because I struggled to get a booking and the restaurant was at near full capacity whilst we were there.
Highly recommend to anyone in the area.
Food not great starters and bread were lovely however the main courses were poor in quality and presentation. 2 of us had the steak which were pricey and served with a tomato salad !! Service was good but the atmosphere for a fri night was pretty dull. We've been a few times before but will it a long while before we go back.
The food we had was delicious, especially the vegetable-heavy starters. We also really enjoyed the cocktails, our favorite drinks during our time in Glasgow.
Brilliant evening while entertaining friends visiting Scotland-we all had a fabulous time. Delicious food and friendly service.
Amazing dinner and very attentive service, absolutely fabulous
Lady I spoke to on the phone at time of booking was very helpful, talking me through whether it was best to book the restaurant or the mezzanine. Booked the restaurant in the end - superb!
Great place with great food.
Amazing as always
Food always great . The gnocchi however on this occasion was the only disappointing meal .
Wonderful meal & excellent service!
Ate in downstairs restaurant. Lovely meal, nice staff and good atmosphere - portions a little small for prices charged as each main meal required an additional side order- but would still recommend a visit.
