About Stravaigin Restaurant
A Glasgow institution Stravaigin was established 24 years ago with a think global eat local mantra. Stravaigin is an old scots word meaning to wander and that’s what the kitchen does creating a menu full of culinary wanderlust. Using the finest sourced produce from Scottish farmers and coastal waters the kitchen hits hard with spicy inventive dishes.
Steamed buns with soft shell crabs and sambal oelek, an assorted Scottish fish bowl with Pernod and fennel broth topped with a curried egg, Scottish venion osso bucco, Loch Fyne mackerel with rhubarb and pear kimchi. Stravaigin also offers vegetarian and vegan dishes with Syrian lentil and mint koftas and rose pickled onions, or wild Scottish mushroom baklava if the season is right. Squirrel, rook, goat and sea urchin have been known to make it onto the menu on ‘special nights’ such as the DNA Dinner, the Phylum Feast or the Weird and Wild Extravaganza.
The wine list is just as well travelled picking the best from sustainable, organic and biodynamic wines.
Drinking wine in the restaurant, meeting pals for cocktails in the café bar or al fresco dining on the pavement. Stravaigin has a lot to offer. On a cold and windy day in Glasgow, snuggle in around the stove, eating our haggis and nursing a whisky. Beautifully sunny and our doors will be fully open letting the rare Glasgow rays bathe you while you sip your Grillo and nibble on a Mediterranean platter. Bands, poets, writers, artists, gourmands, and gluttons - all can be found in Stravaigin!
Lunch, brunch, dinner, cocktails, wine or beer - Stravaigin abides and delights.

Great evening. Lovely food.
A great dining experience
I’ve been a few times now and I am always very impressed with the food and the brilliant service provided.
Food was excellent quality. Wine of good quality at reasonable price. Only small complaint was sitting as a table of three at the end of a long table in the centre of the restaurant.
A wonderful meal, witty and attentive service. A lovely company night out
The Piper/Entertainer was excellent - brilliant performance, great atmosphere, just the right amount of entertainment. The only negative thing which you probably can't help is the accoustics - it was all but impossible to have conversations because or the noise.
The GUSRC had an amazing time at our annual Christmas lunch , food was exceptional and the personal touch given to our staff with dietary requirements was the best we have ever experienced. We will be re-booking for this coming Christmas and will highly recommend it to others.
We had an excellent evening, thank you.,
Really appreciated effort to accommodate allergy requirements of guests.
Atmosphere was wonderful, food sooooo delicious and service friendly
Fabulous restaurant and bar. A Christmas gem wrapped in twigs and fairy lights!
This was an informal dinner for my husbands 30th and overall we had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the evening. The food generally was great, the wine was lovely and reasonably priced, and service was attentive and punctual. A few minor points: it was a little dark where we were sat, and two of my friends had the pork belly for their main course and both thought it was quite dry and the portion was quite small. However, we had a great evening, would recommend the Stravaigin and will definitely be back.
Food outstanding, However although service efficient felt a little rushed at times, with not enough time between courses. Then felt literally chased upstairs as I went to get signal on my phone to check my bank app to pay the bill. Not likely to do the dine & dash and leave my bag my coat & my husband!
Outstanding Food in a great atmosphere. Shetland Cod was superb.
Very nice restaurant. we had a great lunch on Sunday. Staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. we can really recommend it.
Downstairs can be a little quiet, but suspect that might have been the time we chose; otherwise, food is superb and service was really good Will def return but perhaps upstairs.
Enjoyable food with an interesting twist.
Fabulous food & lovely relaxed atmosphere Waitress staff were very helpful and friendly
Amazing food, in buzzing contemporary restaurant. Service was not overbearing. For quality of food which is not far off Michelin star the value is excellent. Bistro food upstairs in bar is also fantastic
Noisy in lower floor, A/C too cold
I was absolutely delighted with the level of service shown by the staff on Tuesday evening They took the time to describe the dishes and drinks on the menu and the chef agreed to make haggis x 12 starters for out whole table despite it not being on the pre-theatre menu. Our guests from China had a wonderful evening. Many thanks!
Everything was excellent! Portion size on the Fried Rice was really large.. Could easily make that fried rice for two by adding more protein and then including the veg on the side.
Lovely food, good service, relaxed atmosphere.
Best meal out I've had in years. Even the complimentary sweet potato dip and sourdough before the meal was to die for.
Had a lovely brunch, we were all well looked after and the food was great, would recommend eating here :)
