Third Steak of the Art to open in Southampton
We’re excited to announce that we’ve now signed the lease for our third venue in Southampton.
Creating up to 25 new jobs, the new Steak of the Art will comprise 170-covers. Located in Admirals Quay, Ocean Village, the 4,000 sq ft venue will be split over two floors, with 130 covers indoors and the remaining 40 being outside.
Work to fit out the new venue is now underway with the opening planned for February 2016.
Steve said: “We’re very pleased to have signed the lease and hugely excited about bringing our vision of dining to Southampton.
“We feel that Ocean Village is the ideal place for us. Recent upgrades to the marina, work on the new five-star hotel and a home for other, well-respected retailers, bars and restaurants will see it emerge as a key business and tourist destination.
“The need to have quality places to eat therefore increases and Steak of the Art will provide a place where people can appreciate and enjoy good food in an unpretentious way.
“We insist that all our main ingredients have good provenance with amazing quality, and the Southampton restaurant will be no different with both the meat and fish ingredients coming from our existing Cornwall-based suppliers of Philip Warren butchers and Fish for Thought.”
“The interior of the restaurant will be an exhibition of art in itself and we’ve got some very exciting and perhaps unusual ideas for Southampton which will make this a dining experience with a difference.

About Steak of the Art - Southampton
We think our story is worth telling, because it shows just how much care we’ve taken in creating this amazing venue.
Sourcing the very best ingredients has been a real labour of love. We’ve met some amazing people and sampled some of the very best produce in the West Country.
Here’s the story of the food we cook for you:
For great tasting beef we need to source the best ingredients. We have searched far and wide for our beef and we believe some of the best comes from farms in Devon and Cornwall and on the Welsh Borders. From the minute we set foot on the farm we have chosen we knew these guys were right for us.
Warson Beef Farm's approach to farming mirrors our approach to food - pouring the same passion and attention to detail in to everything from the welfare of the animals to the maintenance of their buildings and farmland.
As well as Warson Beef Farm, we also use master butchers, Philip Warrens in Cornwall. Caring about our beef as much as we do the team ensures that all our beef meets our exacting standards of welfare and taste.
Our fish comes from a company called Fish for Thought, a Cornish fishing company which owns its own boat.
That means we can guarantee getting the freshest fish from their boat to your plate every day.

All the staff we've very welcoming, friendly and happy. Made us feel great
I came for rump Tuesday with my wife and a couple of friends. While we were waiting for my wife the waitress spotted my friends fiance was cold as we were sat under the a/c and offered to move us, great service! Having previously visited we opted for onion rings as a starter to share and 3 rumps and the chicken burger for mains. The onion rings whilst tasty were disappointing compared to our previous visit as we only had 4 per portion, half the amount of our first visit. The steak was good and the chunky chips were fluffy and crunchy. The chicken burger went down a treat. It was all washed down with a bottle of house red which is very reasonably priced. We will be back again :-)
Beautiful meal and fantastic service one of my favourite restaurants , amazing food , lovely staff .
Beautifully cooked steak!
Excellent all round though it was my wife’s birthday so maybe a drink for her considering we paid £112.00 but that’s just a thought. Thank you a another top meal
Visited on a rainy Sunday lunchtime so it was quite quiet (first game of the football season so was probably busy later). Staff were very friendly. We did get asked the same question by more than one member of staff so maybe a little better communication between them might help (it didn't bother me but I know some people can find that annoying). Food was very good. My steak was cooked just how I like it. The chips were wonderful although more like roast potato chips! I didn't order additional sides except for sauce but found that my meal was just about right. I wouldn't have wanted much more. I did think sides were a little pricey (a buy one get one half price would be good!). Puddings were good. My son wants to visit again just to have the cheesecake! Loved the decor. Some of the pictures for sale were not my style but I think everyone in our party found something they liked. Will be back to try a different steak (and have more of the chips!).
first class evening
Drink order, food order & bill wrong. Steak very good if lucky enough to get correctly cooked one. Staff had problem with till. All members of party said they would not return.
Very fast service. Pleasant location. Food was really good. Only downside would be that they seem to run out of a few items from the menu but admittedly I did visit fairly late in the day. Would definitely recommend and I'll be going back there again.
A really disappointing dining experience. On the plus side, the steak was delicious. However, the service was poor and we left feeling as if there is something seriously wrong with the company ethos. Six of us were seated on a table for four, despite making an advance booking. We were told that no other tables were free although that obviously didn't extend to the entire upper level which seemed to be full of empty tables. It took ages to be served both food and drinks and our overworked waitress clearly didn't have adequate help or support. Some of the portion sizes were infant portions (e.g. half a pitta bread with hummus and three tiny slices of ciabatta with the mussels main course). We did query the latter and this resulted in an extra slice of bread being delivered at a cost of £1 extra added to the bill. An additional £3.50 was added to the bill for some peas and carrots which had arrived with a steak, apparently in error, as peas with your steak costs an extra £3.50. The prices overall are at the upper end in comparison with similar style restaurants so the obvious 'penny pinching' leaves a bad taste, unlike the steak which as I mentioned was very tasty.
Service was very slow considering it was not busy.
5* cannot wait to go again.
Poor service which affected the entire experience.
marked low on service it was very patchy and as far as charging for Parmesan cheese £2.00 this is npot acceptable when you provide a dish which requires this as a condument. The quality of food apart from when you run short of desert at only 0950 in the evening is excellent!!
Service was amazing, but I really don't know why people rave about you because the food is nothing but average. Tables were cramped. Nice decor and very friendly staff.
Our waitress was lovely, but due to her being on her own across our area the meal was very slow between courses. She was very active in the area, but was too stretched to provide a reasonably timed service.
Great night with delicious food. Real nice cutlery too!
We booked the crows nest, your staff where not impressed and asked if we wanted to eat anywhere else prior to showing us to our seats ! This put me on edge to start ! Service was poor, we may as well been sat on the roof. My order was incorrect and brought an additional stak eventually. Given that we chose your restaurant to have my sons 18th birthday family get together i feel it was second rate and that is all down to service. A waiter apologising at the end when I did say we feel like we where forgotten explained there was only three of them on! Like I really want to know that ! The food was great but the service was very poor.
Unfortunately, being a mid-week lunchtime, there were only about 4 tables being used so little atmosphere ... but great surroundings and pictures. I'd happily go back again and would like to try another (busier) time.
Not only did you run out of lot of the stuff on the menu but when we did pick something, the waiter got the order wrong and then stated that he was right and we are wrong, don't think I would ever go back
Beautifully cooked Sunday roast, service is always friendly and welcoming.
We dined at the restaurant on Saturday for the first time after hearing good reviews. The food was lovely and we had no complaints there but there were a few other issues. The Prosecco was warm and all we were given originally was an ice bucket with about 2 lumps of ice in it! My husband had a bottle of Peroni and that was warm also. The men's loos had a leak and the floor was swimming in urine, which wasn't pleasant for the men.
This was a graduation meal with my son. We all ordered different dishes & it was cooked to our wishes beautifully. Loved the decor too.
Great service, lovely location and great value for money. Worth a visit
We had preordered as we had a party of nine, and still you got the meals wrong. the staff where very friendly and the meet and greet was exceptional, its a shame it all went down hill after that. drinks took forever even though you where 40% full. not a good experiance.
