Third Steak of the Art to open in Southampton
We’re excited to announce that we’ve now signed the lease for our third venue in Southampton.
Creating up to 25 new jobs, the new Steak of the Art will comprise 170-covers. Located in Admirals Quay, Ocean Village, the 4,000 sq ft venue will be split over two floors, with 130 covers indoors and the remaining 40 being outside.
Work to fit out the new venue is now underway with the opening planned for February 2016.
Steve said: “We’re very pleased to have signed the lease and hugely excited about bringing our vision of dining to Southampton.
“We feel that Ocean Village is the ideal place for us. Recent upgrades to the marina, work on the new five-star hotel and a home for other, well-respected retailers, bars and restaurants will see it emerge as a key business and tourist destination.
“The need to have quality places to eat therefore increases and Steak of the Art will provide a place where people can appreciate and enjoy good food in an unpretentious way.
“We insist that all our main ingredients have good provenance with amazing quality, and the Southampton restaurant will be no different with both the meat and fish ingredients coming from our existing Cornwall-based suppliers of Philip Warren butchers and Fish for Thought.”
“The interior of the restaurant will be an exhibition of art in itself and we’ve got some very exciting and perhaps unusual ideas for Southampton which will make this a dining experience with a difference.

About Steak of the Art - Southampton
We think our story is worth telling, because it shows just how much care we’ve taken in creating this amazing venue.
Sourcing the very best ingredients has been a real labour of love. We’ve met some amazing people and sampled some of the very best produce in the West Country.
Here’s the story of the food we cook for you:
For great tasting beef we need to source the best ingredients. We have searched far and wide for our beef and we believe some of the best comes from farms in Devon and Cornwall and on the Welsh Borders. From the minute we set foot on the farm we have chosen we knew these guys were right for us.
Warson Beef Farm's approach to farming mirrors our approach to food - pouring the same passion and attention to detail in to everything from the welfare of the animals to the maintenance of their buildings and farmland.
As well as Warson Beef Farm, we also use master butchers, Philip Warrens in Cornwall. Caring about our beef as much as we do the team ensures that all our beef meets our exacting standards of welfare and taste.
Our fish comes from a company called Fish for Thought, a Cornish fishing company which owns its own boat.
That means we can guarantee getting the freshest fish from their boat to your plate every day.

Really great evening - seamless service, organisation and food for such a large (and excitable!) group. Thank you to all the team and we'll definitely recommend to others. Cheers.
We went on the Tuesday 50% off rump night and the steaks were fab. Salad was quite small with very few ingredients but nicely topped with parmesan. Service was good and I always like to take a look at the artwork. Have been several times and will undoubtedly go again.
Very friendly service, best steak on the planet. Highly recommended. See you soon :)
Me and my partner attended here on Sunday for a roast dinner we both had the chicken, it was absolutely amazing. The chicken was roasted to perfect standard and the vegetables, potatoes etc. were all delicious too!
Attentive staff but a little to fast to move you through your meal. Ordinary steak but price reflects it.
The service was honestly the best I have had in years. It was so attentive but not overbearing, all the staff were very polite and welcoming. They were all really on it with upselling and letting us know what else was available with our meal. It made it an experience rather than a standard meal out.
Nice bit of Meat. Good service
Isabelle our waitress made this experience fantastic. A polite friendly and very enthusiastic young lady it was an absolute pleasure to be looked after by her.
My second visit .on arrival greeted and told 25 minutes for starters and 45 minutes for mains .waited for over an hour for starters . Waited continuously for drinks to arrive ! So went to the bar to collect drinks that were not even ord. reed, main meal arrived 90 minutes after sitting down. It wold appear to me in this high tech world we live in that due to the rapid communication via email you are aware how many people and what time to expect your customers to arrive ,so there cannot be any surprises as to how many people you are going to service, the staff were all polite but constantly saying sorry, empty apologise for very poor standards of practice . The food was good butvspoilt by the constant delays
This restaurant was such a disappointment. It is decorated so superbly. They have paintings by some local artists displayed on partitions and walls, something you are encouraged to view and enjoy. Building on that the walls, ceilings and even the chairs are brightly and vibrantly coloured. This wonderfully vivid decoration is sadly let down by the food and service. I appreciate that Saturday evening is likely to be the busiest evening for a restaurant, but there are usually steps that can be taken to avoid excessive waiting times. Our starters, which were delicious, took a noticeably long time to reach us, but it was the main courses that so aggravated me. We waited for around an hour between starter and main course. This built a lot of anticipation. To then receive an unremarkable steak with some crudely cut chips (which you have to pay extra for) without any garnish or artistry was an insult. I regret visiting Steak of the Art.
My dining experience has always been great at steak of the art. However after booking a table of 17 I wouldn’t be inclined to book a big table again. The service wasn’t great, I made a lot of effort completing a pre order spreadsheet and are food still took an hour and was checked by the waitress painfully. However the manager did apologise, discounted are bill and gave me a bottle of bubbly. It was my birthday and I felt awkward the whole evening. I don’t like to complain but the rest of the table felt that they had too.
Came for my husbands 30th birthday dinner, service was good, food was ok, but I think expensive when you have to add sides/sauces to your dinner. Nice place tho, art gallery is cool!
Amazing Birthday meal for my Sons 18th. Very helpful friendly staff. Absolutely gorgeous food. One of our guests is a Chef & he was blown away by the food. Thank You All for a great night. We will defiantly be coming back.
Steak was really good. Had ice cream for dessert. I ordered honeycomb flavour and pretty sure I was given salted caramel. It was very icy as though it had melted and then been refrozen. I didn't eat it and informed the waitress. Despite this it was not taken off the bill which I would expect as a minimum as it was poor quality. Disappointing end to a otherwise good meal.
Great meal , lovely view inside & out .
Best steak about, beats Miller and carter with ease
Service was good. But chefs inadequate to cook med rare . Sent back two meals what I haven't ever done before. Wouldn't recommend
Our waiter was absolutely brilliant
Had a fabulous family birthday meal ( mixed age group) all were impressed, staff very friendly and accommodating - thank you
Couldn’t have enjoyed our meal enough. It was in a great location, the views and ark work were incredible and the food was davine. The staff were so friendly and patient with us (they did have to come over about 3 times before we actually ordered anything! Sorry!!). Everything was just perfect, made our evening that bit more special :-). Definitely worth another visit!
Food was disappointing all things considered. Smallish sirloin steak. "chips" were huge potato wedges. Not value for money.
Arranged a company leaving do for 20 odd people here. Very helpful with arranging the meal, staff were very helpful and very friendly when bringing the food out. Very enjoyable time. Didn't hurt that everyone said it was some of the best steak they'd every had as well! Cheers chaps! Be seeing you again!
I’ve only given 3* for atmosphere due to it being early eve and not full. The rump was the best I’ve tasted and the chips were amazing. I’d defo return
Conceptual steakhouse with lots of real art on the walls and creative decor. Very friendly staff. We visited on a Sunday and had 4 roasts. For three the meat was perfect, but for one it was was grizzly. We did comment at the time. The roasts had a distinct lack of veggies (well lots of potatoes and one bit of parsnip), nothing green! Basically it was steak and chips, with the chips replaced with roast potatoes and a Yorkshire added. The restaurant was almost empty (might be a location & Sunday thing), so lacked any buzz. The price was average and portions were HUGE. Would certainly be willing to go again (not on a Sunday) and try something else from the menu. Thanks.
Booked table on line - very easy. 3 x diners Ordered the chicken burger - specifically asked the waitress if BBQ sauce on the burger or on the side. Told it came on the side. When arrived was on the burger! Returned x 2 burgers to be reordered. Took 10-15 minutes, in which time our friend was nearly finished with her meal. Staff very apologetic. When time to pay, no discount for this mix up had been applied. Had to question with manager & eventually a discount was applied but feel this should be standard of good customer service.
