Third Steak of the Art to open in Southampton
We’re excited to announce that we’ve now signed the lease for our third venue in Southampton.
Creating up to 25 new jobs, the new Steak of the Art will comprise 170-covers. Located in Admirals Quay, Ocean Village, the 4,000 sq ft venue will be split over two floors, with 130 covers indoors and the remaining 40 being outside.
Work to fit out the new venue is now underway with the opening planned for February 2016.
Steve said: “We’re very pleased to have signed the lease and hugely excited about bringing our vision of dining to Southampton.
“We feel that Ocean Village is the ideal place for us. Recent upgrades to the marina, work on the new five-star hotel and a home for other, well-respected retailers, bars and restaurants will see it emerge as a key business and tourist destination.
“The need to have quality places to eat therefore increases and Steak of the Art will provide a place where people can appreciate and enjoy good food in an unpretentious way.
“We insist that all our main ingredients have good provenance with amazing quality, and the Southampton restaurant will be no different with both the meat and fish ingredients coming from our existing Cornwall-based suppliers of Philip Warren butchers and Fish for Thought.”
“The interior of the restaurant will be an exhibition of art in itself and we’ve got some very exciting and perhaps unusual ideas for Southampton which will make this a dining experience with a difference.

About Steak of the Art - Southampton
We think our story is worth telling, because it shows just how much care we’ve taken in creating this amazing venue.
Sourcing the very best ingredients has been a real labour of love. We’ve met some amazing people and sampled some of the very best produce in the West Country.
Here’s the story of the food we cook for you:
For great tasting beef we need to source the best ingredients. We have searched far and wide for our beef and we believe some of the best comes from farms in Devon and Cornwall and on the Welsh Borders. From the minute we set foot on the farm we have chosen we knew these guys were right for us.
Warson Beef Farm's approach to farming mirrors our approach to food - pouring the same passion and attention to detail in to everything from the welfare of the animals to the maintenance of their buildings and farmland.
As well as Warson Beef Farm, we also use master butchers, Philip Warrens in Cornwall. Caring about our beef as much as we do the team ensures that all our beef meets our exacting standards of welfare and taste.
Our fish comes from a company called Fish for Thought, a Cornish fishing company which owns its own boat.
That means we can guarantee getting the freshest fish from their boat to your plate every day.

Good food and service
Everything was wonderful definitely going again couldn’t fault anything
Great Service and Food! Even better with 50% off Rump Steak on Tuesdays!
It was impossible the waitress to ask me how the pork chop be rare, medium, or well cooked. The pork chop must be well cooked for safety. Even the manger told me that we can eat rare pork chop!
Was really pleased to be seated in a cosy booth! Great service, excellent food, amazing staff. Made our anniversary dinner extra lovely
The roast dinners looked amazing and were HUGE! I had the smoked haddock risotto and whilst it tasted lovely, I was disappointed with the skin on the bits of fish and a couple of bones. Sticky toffee pudding dessert was excellent.
we always have a great meal every time we visit!
Great service, drinks and food arrived quickly, really nice food great price and would definitely go again soon.
Very friendly staff and food cooked to perfection. Very good value for money. Would 100% recommend
Your restaurant is always only as good as the food and the service and on both counts your team were excellent. It was out 30 th wedding anniversary and we had a lovely meal. Thank you
Excellent experience as always,
We had a lovely meal. I won't lie when it arrived just steak and some chips and a slice of garlic bread I worried everyone would be hungry still. We were all full, the steaks were superb. My daughters shared a side of macaroni cheese which was beautiful. Our waiter was lovely. I'm so sorry I don't remember his name. My son had a lovely birthday meal. Thank you.
Service slow - sat at 7:30, still not had mains by 9. Did get free puddings as goodwill. One main was returned as the burger contained hair. One dessert was a blondie-which should be a brownie like texture. It was solid and couldn’t be eaten with a spoon, and when we complained we were told that a blondie should be a hard cookie. We were too fed up to complain anymore. Unlikely to return. Positive-the steaks that 2 guests had were lovely.
Really quirky venue steak was delicious!!!
I will be going again! Fantastic food and awesome staff :)
Service was magnificent and the food was too.
Felt a little bit rushed Needed a jacket , little bit chilly inside Great food
The drinks, mains and sides were very good - though we were quite disappointed with the puddings -between us we had the sticky toffee pudding, creme brulee cheesecake and summer fruits pudding and none of us really enjoyed them - the sticky toffee pudding seemed to have been heated and left cold so it was very dry,the cheesecake was okay just a normal vanilla cheesecake and the summer fruits pudding seemed to be a strange texture and consistency . Again the mains were amazing though the pudding let the evening down a bit.
Lovely waiter, great food brilliant with the children and would recommend 50 rump Tuesdays.
Steak wasn't cooked at all how we asked. My girlfriend was freezing cold and the food was cold due to how cold the restaurant was. It was extremely quiet and yet we still noticed the staff were slow, with the food sitting at the pass with the bell being rung multiple times before one of the many members of staff went too it, keeping in mind there were two tables in total there.Disappointed :(
Steaks were great, sides were terrible. Broccoli came out brown !! 2 out of 3 dinners had bad stomach that night and next day.
Would definitely recommend!
Very unique, fabulous food, great atmosphere and service and I especially like how important it is to them where the meat is sourced from. Would highly recommend.
This box isn't big enough, so I've written to the owner Mr Steve Bowen.
