Third Steak of the Art to open in Southampton
We’re excited to announce that we’ve now signed the lease for our third venue in Southampton.
Creating up to 25 new jobs, the new Steak of the Art will comprise 170-covers. Located in Admirals Quay, Ocean Village, the 4,000 sq ft venue will be split over two floors, with 130 covers indoors and the remaining 40 being outside.
Work to fit out the new venue is now underway with the opening planned for February 2016.
Steve said: “We’re very pleased to have signed the lease and hugely excited about bringing our vision of dining to Southampton.
“We feel that Ocean Village is the ideal place for us. Recent upgrades to the marina, work on the new five-star hotel and a home for other, well-respected retailers, bars and restaurants will see it emerge as a key business and tourist destination.
“The need to have quality places to eat therefore increases and Steak of the Art will provide a place where people can appreciate and enjoy good food in an unpretentious way.
“We insist that all our main ingredients have good provenance with amazing quality, and the Southampton restaurant will be no different with both the meat and fish ingredients coming from our existing Cornwall-based suppliers of Philip Warren butchers and Fish for Thought.”
“The interior of the restaurant will be an exhibition of art in itself and we’ve got some very exciting and perhaps unusual ideas for Southampton which will make this a dining experience with a difference.

About Steak of the Art - Southampton
We think our story is worth telling, because it shows just how much care we’ve taken in creating this amazing venue.
Sourcing the very best ingredients has been a real labour of love. We’ve met some amazing people and sampled some of the very best produce in the West Country.
Here’s the story of the food we cook for you:
For great tasting beef we need to source the best ingredients. We have searched far and wide for our beef and we believe some of the best comes from farms in Devon and Cornwall and on the Welsh Borders. From the minute we set foot on the farm we have chosen we knew these guys were right for us.
Warson Beef Farm's approach to farming mirrors our approach to food - pouring the same passion and attention to detail in to everything from the welfare of the animals to the maintenance of their buildings and farmland.
As well as Warson Beef Farm, we also use master butchers, Philip Warrens in Cornwall. Caring about our beef as much as we do the team ensures that all our beef meets our exacting standards of welfare and taste.
Our fish comes from a company called Fish for Thought, a Cornish fishing company which owns its own boat.
That means we can guarantee getting the freshest fish from their boat to your plate every day.

We experienced fantastic service from all staff for the duration of our stay. This was our third year running for Christmas lunch and as usual, everybody loved it. Delicious food and great atmosphere. Would highly recommend!
Lovely meal served by friendly and helpful staff. Spectacular decor.
Excellent food, friendly service all made for a great night!
Food and service were good but the veg and custard to go with the mains/pudding had to be chased and took a while - felt like it wasn't quite all ready when it was brought out. Quality was good and overall impressions of the team were great.
We had excellent service from all the team . The steaks were delicious as my sister in law said best steak had in ages . Love the whole ambiance and friendly staff
The food was lovely but due to it being not very busy, chefs and staff where outside the front door smoking and walking through eating area holding ciggarete ready to smoke outside very unprofessional
Excellent experience, lovely food and a special mention. For the waitress Emily, she was a real credit to the restaurant,
I had not previously eaten at this venue, but when looking for a special romantic treat for my girlfriend, Steak of the Art was highly recommended by a colleague. I was not disappointed. The ambiance far exceeded my highest expectations, as did the wonderful, delicately prepared meals. The steaks, cooked to perfection, must rate amongst the best I’ve ever tasted. The friendly and helpful staff helped make this unique dining experience one to remember.
Had an early evening booking so service was great. By the time we left was filling up quickly which proves that whilst our meal was excellent they have lots of returning customers and it was Tuesday night. Advice - book it’s a great hidden gem 😄
Always excellent service and outstanding food.
I’m very happy with the service here in Steak of the Art, clean and friendly atmosphere. We always come here not only on special occasions but every end of the month coz we love their steak so much! I have recommended Steak of the Art to my family and friends.
Staff were all great, food fantastic. Coming back for a party this week!! 🤞🏼
Simply fantastic food with great vibe
Amazing food and not over priced. We were a large table and were well looked after. they were very quick and helpful at getting back to me in the lead up to our visit. Would definitely return and recommend
Great meal and very attentive service. Considering the Steak price I would have expected more accompaniment have said that the steaks were excellent and perfectly cooked. Would recommend.
Very friendly staff. Great steak. Really enjoyed our visit. Great pre-match venue for the football. Parking nearby and a short walk to the ground.
I’m a regular visitor to this restaurant and it’s one of my favourite places to go for a meal out and I always enjoy coming here. The fillet steaks are always perfectly cooked and the service is excellent. The Spumante blush is also a rare treat and never find it in any other restaurant. If you like a decent steak then this is the place to go in Southampton.
Friendly waiter, personable. Lighting was good - could have been slightly dimmer to create a better atmosphere. Chips were more like roast potatoes, I think I would have liked to have known this before and I may have changed my order, but they were still tasty. Bathroom sinks weren't working, so not able to wash my hands, this was a bit disappointing. I would still go back, the steak was lovely.
Good food and wine (pity one of our preferred wines was sold out). Staff pleasant and efficient. We had an enjoyable evening. Gents toilets need urgent attention - no water for hand washing. Bad!
We were expecting a lovely steak meal but the chips were such enormous great big wedges (like very large roast potatoes) and unappetising that the were very firm in the middle, when I mentioned this to the waiter he said that’s how they are cooked now because people complained they were too fluffy!!!! The steak was ok but the garlic bread was soft and cold, when I saw the kitchen they clearly put the bread out a significant amount of time before plating up meaning it goes soggy. The sauces were ok. The waiter almost knocked my friends head off a few times too and didn’t even notice. We spent £56 and did not really enjoy any of it and Boone seemed to care. Will not be back and will definitely not recommend it to anyone. Nice artwork though.
Generally very good however mushrooms at £4 (for 4 small flat) well over priced.
Lovely meal with really good service. Recommended!
We were both ill after eating the chicken which is not what we expected we are so disappointed.
I love SOTA, one of my favourite restaurants! Everything you do is spot on. I especially love the staff and how they all have a bit of personality and are completely themselves. They all seem very happy in there jobs. They must be well looked after and if they’re not you should look after them. The food is always superb.
