About STEAK \ 1884
Intimate Steakhouse in Hull's Historic Fruit Market area showcasing the best of Yorkshire produce, focussing on the utmost quality of food & service.
We source traditionally farmed rare breed meat, locally caught fish & seafood, and use as much local vegetable produce as we can.
Really delicious food and accommodating to special requests.
Fantastic food and service, steak was cooked perfectly the best i have ever had, service was very efficient with lovely friendly staff.
Website needs updating as menus not reflective of what is actually available. Food & service excellent as always.
Excellent food excellent service
Great place , good food Expensive but quality Manager was very nice Negatives Other waiting staff were really miserable clearly not enjoying their work going out should be a pleasurable experience for all so they need to be happier!
It was the 2nd time I have been and are definitely going to go back again
Starter , vegetables, Dessert couldn’t be faulted. As couldn’t the service provided by Elizabeth and Jason. Both very helpful. Elizabeth was very sociable, suggesting a very good alternative wine when the one we ordered wasn’t available. We both had the basic Sunday Roast. The plates were cold. All I can say is if you don’t like your Beef cooked “rare” then don’t have it. Probably should have asked how it would be served. I ate most of mine but my partner couldn’t cope with it. We used to visit “1884” when it was on the Mariner and I had my 60th Family Birthday meal at “1884 Tapas” , they are a hard act to follow. But It’s early days and I am sure Elizabeth and her team will improve given time.
Wonderful lamb and great service. Thank you!
Fantastic evening, great friendly service. Beautiful food.
Great evening and great food definitely will book again 👍
Amazing meal, Tomahawk steak was faultless and quite possibly the best steak I have had. Beautiful interior and pleasant staff, hosted friends from Kent and they loved the whole experience and food!
An excellent night with lovely food
Lovely decor - not many in on Sunday afternoon. Kids offer of £1 for two courses great value - our steak was just ok, which for the venue and price we expected better
Fantastic as always.
I booked the table for my mums birthday and she enjoyed it that much we’re looking st when to go back.
We were really looked after, the food was excellent. I would say this restaurant is great for special occasions. Will definitely return.
The host absolutely brilliant was fantastic informative, when asked for a drink the server literally had zero talk (never known ever before) quite rude. Then presented with the bill offered the girl 10% tip no thanks given (so why bother)
Great ambience, GORGEOUS food, excellent service definitely a place for that ‘special’ occasion. Will be back.
My second visit the first was excellent, but this was not good. The Maitre d didn't come over no one explained the meet cuts like last visit.A very pleasant girl took our order and a nice young man looked after our wine. My wife and i had Chateaubriand which she thought had been cut the wrong way and was tough, not enjoyable.I did complain after the meal and still no visit from the man i think was in charge, although he did visit the other tables(maybe he doesn't like me) .I was with my daughter and husband who did enjoy there steak.attention to us by staff at your high prices was simply not good enough. Not sure i shall return!!
Beautiful food and great service however restaurant was empty.
Excellent Sunaday lunch- best in Hull with a broad margin !
Best roast dinner to be had anywhere! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great steaks perfectly cooked, although that is to be expected really. Items from our order were forgotten, starter and main which is disappointing for such a simple menu. Staff could cheer up and smile more, it's a restaurant not a wake. Atmosphere was dull and cold, not helped by the dower waiting staff. Little bit pricey for steak and chips even though the steaks were excellent.
On the whole fantastic but a couple of things that we weren't too impressed with 1) when you order soup or mussels you expect bread with it, we asked for it and were charged extra, even though we didn't receive any complimentary bread like you always used to do at 1884. 2) asked for 2 glasses of champagne. Advised not available and we could only have rose or prosecco.
