About Spices Garden Restaurant
The gourmet Vietnamese restaurant is inspired by the "Hanoi Street Food" concept where we bring Hanoi street food dishes directly to the table in a luxury setting. Dishes are expressly fresh and often prepared a la minute. Staple Hanoi dishes such as "pho" noodle soup, "bun cha" spicy barbecued pork, "cha ca" - fried fish, are all cooked to order in the traditional Vietnamese style.
On Saturday nights, enjoy the sumptuous BBQ buffet at the patio with various selections.
My take was that the food was a much more expensive and much less tasty copy of the Hanoi Street Food. The fish was overcooked. The tastes were bland. There was nothing creative about the dishes. I has no choice since the Street Food vendors were closed for Tet, but if you have a choice, go for the real thing.
~^^~ Nice space
It was a wonderful lunch and reception service. Next time I want to go with my family. I had wonderful memories,Thank you very much.
Incredible location, worth a visit alone of the beautiful outdoor seating. Menu of the day was very experimental into the modern fusion food. My palette did not necessarily enjoy the combinations. Furthermore, the wine pairing was sadly not always served at the same time as the food. The staff was however, accommodating and never failed to be extremely helpful and friendly. The manager also did rounds on the evening and gave some great insights, which was highly appreciated.
Fabulous meal to celebrate Christmas night with family. Highly recommend!
Disappointing for Christmas day
Excellent service and delicious food. A very memorable dinner with a lovely surprise when a cake was brought out for my husband to celebrate his birthday. Thank you again!
The service was terrible and very disappointing for a restaurant inside a 5-star hotel. The staff was condescending, rude and did not pay close attention to mention of a gluten food allergy for someone in the group, who ended up getting very sick from the food. There were multiple people serving our table and it seemed like no communication between the different servers that were helping us, everyone seemed very confused, this was very frustrating. This was the worst restaurant service I’ve had in my seven days staying in Hanoi.
The hotel with its history is worth seeing. French colonial and luxury building well maintained. The restaurant service is caring and without fault. The food was delicious and very repleting with traditional vietnamese cuisine and seafood, though the price difference for a few plates could be arguable with some less expensive but almost as good smaller restaurants of Hanoi, a great culinary city. However everything was fresh and impeccable, and the ingredients of first choice. My wife and I appreciated the attention on our anniversary cake suprise. Definitely recommandable and worth to go at least once. You should take the budget into account but if you are prepared, you should spent a lovely evening there.
Everything was perfect! We had a great time. I really recommend this restaurant for everyone.
The meal was well presented. The fresh spring rolls were excellent The service was reasonable without being up to international standards.
We had a lovely evening. The food was delicious and the staff were excellent hosts. Their recommendations were a great help. Really nice menu with a wide variety of traditional dishes. Loved the creativity. Ok wine list, but if I were the sommelier I would reduce the amount of choice and focus more on the quality of choice. Would also suggest to work on the restaurant decor. It feels a bit impersonal, too much “hotel restaurant” feel.. The name of the restaurant can lend a lot of creativity for it.
Dégustation menu was not a dégustation menu, the food was not fine. This is not gastronomy
The restaurant is belonging to the hotel and blends well into this charming hotel. The food was very good and the service was flawless. In the background, a traditional Vietnamese music player was toning the atmosphere peacefully. All was coming into a perfect storm of relaxation and refined dining. The temperature was a bit too cold.
Food and ambiance is great. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Second time to be here. The food was perfect as before. We had the Spices Garden Hanoi tasting tray, Bun cha nem with 'barbecued' pork and Nha Trang king prawns. We like particularly the grilled marinated pork - juicy and tasty. The prawns were beautifully done infused with a fresh taste of coconuts. The food here is one of the best in Hanoi.
Magnifique endroit, diner excellent et service de qualité
Everything was excellent however the Cha Ca was a disaster and it requires urgent attention. Cha ca characteristic is the fact it should be served hot and cooked on spot but the ones we received was cold and pre-cooked a big no for such amazing place and dinner. On the other hand, the spring rolls, the duck and the bun cha were absolutely amazing. Service was spot on and we highly appreciated the customization for the spring roll as our guest was intolerant to mushrooms. Would have been a sound 5/5 but the Cha ca needs urgently a fix.
Visited Spices Garden for dinner. I ordered a seafood platter while my friend had chicken rice with grill pork. Both were delicious. The service was excellent. Strongly recommended
Dear Tung Nguyen, What a wonderful review! We appreciate your kind words toward our restaurant. It brings us a lot of pride and joy that your experience with us was enjoyable and satisfying. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future. Kind regards, Linh Chi NGO Director of Quality and Guest Experience and Quality Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi
As good as this restaurant is in terms of table service, food and atmosphere, unfortunately I had to make an official complaint to the Sofitel Hotel, which this restaurant is based in. My wife is a wheelchair user, and when I booked a table through Spice Gardens booking system, I mentioned this and we know they received it as they sat us in an accessible area with the chair already taken away. The major problem we had was NO ONE informed us the lift was out of order, and the waiting team AND Sofitel knew about this (they admitted so when we officially complained). To get to this restaurant, it's either up 10 steps from the pool side or 5 steps then 4 steps street side. I was told there was a lift by the concierge. So we got to the lift...and of course it wasn't working. Cue 7 men carrying my hugely embarrassed wife, with people by the bar standing, staring, watching, almost tipping her out of her chair! oh did I mention this restaurant is high end? This is not what we consider a disabled positive experience in one of Hanoi's fanciest restaurants. Now let me make this clear. My wife and I are ok with small independent inaccessible restaurants that make a reasonable living and clearly inform us of their buildings limitations. We hold high end restaurants set within one of the most expensive hotels in Vietnam to a greater standard, and keep in mind I informed them of my wife's needs, and this is what we got. It's not good enough and it hugely spoilt a perfectly pleasant restaurant experience with attentive waiting staff and excellent food. I'm afraid changes need to be made, and I was charged a lot of money for the privilege of educating the team. And yes we were carried back down the steps when we exited. And yes 2 days later the elevator still isn't fixed.
Dear Mr. Owen Arnold, First of all, I would like to thank you for taking the time to bring your comments to our attention. I wish to extend our deepest apologies for the inconveniences you have experienced and the very unpleasant situation due to the elevator issue. We understand how frustrating this might have been. We are currently doing the utmost to prevent this incident from future occurrence. Further, our Duty Manager team has already met you at hotel on your return to apologize in person and take care of your stay. I hope that you will be willing to give us the opportunity to prove you that we are dedicated to providing our guests with the best quality of service. Kind regards, Linh Chi NGO Guest Experience and Quality Manager Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi
