About South Eatery
Vista Restaurant, a la carte dining featuring the best of Central Otago wines and seasonal menus. Enjoy the 180 degree and sunsets of the Lake Wakatipu and Remarkables Mountain range from the panoramic floor to ceiling windows.
Excellent service & meal. The view is amazing from the restaurant.
enjoyed the meal and received good service
The views are stunning, and the atmosphere, menu and service was wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, and we will be back for sure! Highly recommended!
Amazing experience views from the restaurant incredible service was brilliant could not fault
We had a lovely dinner at South Eatery. The view is stunning and the food was delicious. We were very impressed with the interesting menu and could not decide what to order, we were not disappointed. The service was great also
The view was amazing, staff friendly and food lovely
Great view, friendly and helpful staff, food was average
Sitting at the central table with a spectacular view over the Remarkables and Lake Wakatipu was very special. Unfortunately the food was not. We had heard of other good reviews of food so perhaps just a chef’s off day. Vegetarian meal portion was very small although tasty but I would have been upset if paying full price. Service was ok but on repeating the order being referred to when the server was speaking to my husband, not me as “her” was not good.
Beautiful view of the lake side. Wait time for food was very short Waiters were lovely and talkative. Would recommend
Ordered the venison wellington and its a really really dry dish and accompanied with lentils it makes the dish so hard to swallow. Jus was given only when asked and it has no flavour. Chicken nibble was definitely frozen and premade as the meat was dry. Wife ordered the steak and presentation was really sloppy with tons of mash which is chunky not smooth and salty pepper sauce. Absolutely disappointing for a restaurant on a awesome location.
After staying at the Mercure in Queenstown on numerous occasions & having dinner in the restaurant I was disappointed with the experience of just booking South Eatery through the Accor Site with was for my wife's birthday which I noted on the booking. had the confirmation of the reservation which I had re-confirmed. I was advised that there was no booking for us. Luckily it was early so a table was available. I was then advised the 50% to Accor members did not apply as it was New Years Eve. I challenged this as no advanced warning was given & the discount was one of the reasons for our visit. This was resolved OK in the end & the food & service was fine, although the opportunity to recognise my wife's birthday was missed. What was must disappointing was on the way out & passed on these comments to the Duty Manager who was totally uninterested which I passed comment on to him. Overall disappointing considering our previous loyalty to the Mercure Queenstown.
Awesome view ,great staff and good food
Atmosphere was absolutely beautiful, service was with a smile very friendly staff, good value for money, entrees & main meals were good sizing & great tasting the only let down was the desserts other than that I would recommend.
Amazing view , food and service
We really enjoyed dining here. Staff were all friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent and the view outstanding.
Staff were very good, views were fantastic. I had the lamb shanks a little tasteless and swamp in tasteless gravy, think a jus would of been better. My wife had the pork which was very tasty.
Great way to end our Queenstown experience. Awesome food and service coupled with the spectacular view.
We enjoyed our meal, the service was very good.
Beautiful view, good, attentive service. Unfortunately, it was down hill from there. Very simple, uninspiring menu of the level of basic pub food. No real starters on the menu, ordered some bread and deep fried squid and chicken to start which our kids enjoyed. The mains were a big let down. Rock solid, inedible kumara and undercooked gritty polenta left a large section of Two of our mains inedible. The chicken portion was small so my husband was left hungry as the polenta was inedible. As we were still hungry; we ordered deserts which were the highlight of the meal, again very basic pub style but very tasty. The prices are on the high side compared to the other restaurants in the area so I expected far more from the food.
Awesome dining experience. The venue was outstanding with perhaps the best view in Queenstown. Very attentive and friendly staff. The food was delicious. The only thing which made my score a 90 instead of a 100 was the main dish (lamb Shanks) could have been hotter. It must have sat for five minutes before it came out. It was still delicious and I would not hesitate to return.
Dined out with friends and we all had great meals and great service and would recommend to anyone.
Food was great. But didn't expect a private dining to be held at the same time, thus only a small corner was allocated to outside diners. Felt a bit 'left out' as we were just by the corner. But food was delicious.
Staff was perfect, so accommodating and helpful. Really lovely setting. It was a little late for us to be able to enjoy the views but it was nevertheless a very nice environment. Good food, it was great that our starter actually came out before our mains since it seems they often all show up together in a lot of places. Will definitely be dining here again.
The food was very poor we all felt disappointed with the quality of the food. I don’t normally complain but this was not a pleasant experience. The girl serving us was pleasant and helpful but the time between ordering drinks and food and getting it was too long.
It was the most atmosphere. In addition, the food was so delicious. And I can use the welcome drink coupon while having dinner
