Southbank Boston is the brainchild of chef, Darren Danby.
Darren has been a chef for over 19 years. He’s worked as Head Chef with groups such as Piccalino, Executive Chef with Mitchells and Butlers and PCDG, who are the largest restaurant group in the UK, running sites such as the White Hart in Pool, Deer Park in Leeds and Pine Marten in Harrogate. Darren has also worked with the likes of Marco Pierre White and Paul Heathcote to name a few.
Another awesome dining experience at Southbank. Never fails to deliver
Excellent service and a good midweek burger/beer deal.
The best place to eat in the village, a great meal for my mums birthday. Darren and the team provide a great service. Only negative of an amazing meal is the children’s portion are a little on the small side.
Food was incredible and service was great, loved it for our valentines meal.
Table where we were sat was in a draught - there is a curtain but not everyone pulled it back when walking through (staff too), so I had to keep jumping up and closing. Service and food were excellent although served a little too fast. We were in and out and had 2 courses within an hour and 5 mins. I appreciate it was Saturday evening and that you need the table, but we would have liked another round of drinks and time to relax without feeling rushed.
Amazing food and lovely staff, definitely will be going again!
Running out of Churos at the start of Saturday evening service is not great. This is one of the reasons we came again, and spoilt the visit for our children
Very nice restaurant.
We eat at Southbank fairy regularly. Had a lovely meal. The falafel burgers are excellent.
we went very early so it was fairly quiet,we had a 9 month old with us and there was ample space for our pushchair and a highchair. the waitress was very friendly (sorry didn't make note of her name) our food was delicious! the fries obviously home made were really good, we will definitely be back.
Food was great!
Great venue, great food and service. Owners a bit of a gobshite tho! 😂 Loads a love. X
Fantastic meal on New Year’s Eve - food and service great as ever
Despite the fact there was only a couple of young staff serving(Not usually open for Sunday lunch) they did a great job even after dropping the plates and deciding who knew how to make a mock tail! They were both very friendly and helpful.
Lovely friendly service, attentive but not in your face over the top and a nicely decorated little restaurant. Good food, very tasty burger, although would definitely say it is on the high end price for burger and chips. Nachos were average. Would like to visit again as lots of other things on the menu sound good too.
Christmas Eve. Lovely atomosphere and food. All staff were very friendly & made us feel very welcome.
excellent meal, friendly staff, best sea bass ever
Seated on arrival, drinks orders taken and supplied quickly. Positive comments on the pear & brie tartlet and black pudding croquetas although it didn't work with curried mayo. Strange decision to serve the garlic mushrooms chilled. The description on the menu mentions "melting blue cheese" which would have indicated a hot dish which would have been much better. Similarly, "toast" should also be hot, not chilled. Cold toast is a crouton. Strange also, that the only two hot starters (gambas and croquetas) were brought out first to go cold waiting on the chilled stuff to appear. Mains were mostly reported as OK. One report that the picanha was blue but he was OK with that. Desserts were OK. Serving staff were friendly, engaging and helpful. However, we had to ask several times for cutlery. No cutlery was brought out for the mains or the desserts. We were given a pint glass full of assorted cutlery to distribute ourselves. Once that had been done, we asked again for the items that we were still short of. We gave up waiting at one point and took some off an adjacent table. My boss also described the cutlery as "substandard." Service was very slow with long gaps between appearance of dishes for each course. We told those whose dishes were going cold to start. In my own case, the sea bass arrived at least 15 minutes after service of the mains started and after most diners had finished. The fish itself was good but the "saffron baby potatoes" had never seen saffron and were too hard to eat. I'd have sent them back but I was already eating on my own at that point. The bar was a pleasant place to have a beer or two. When asked for feedback on his dinner, one guy said "Well, it was there." In summary, it was OK.
This venue was selected via a poll for our Works Christmas Lunch and everyone who attended (all 12 of us) agreed it was the best venue we had been for a Christmas lunch in many years. They opened especially for our party over lunchtime, making us feel very special. The food was outstanding with all meals expertly prepared and served quickly and hot (which is key). The host/owner Darren was friendly and engaging which is just what you want. We all agreed that we would return, maybe after a gathering at the Escape Room. 5 Stars and we all would definitely recommend.
A big thanks to Darren and the team for hosting a fabulous christmas party for our staff and clients at 5 Star Fitness.
Great food and attentive staff. Southbank the perfect venue for our pre Christmas reunion with friends
Fantastic night, great food and service. Darren and his team were wonderful, very friendly a d relaxed atmosphere.
The waitress we had was great, unfortunately we didn’t get her name, perhaps staff could introduce themselves like the Americans do, example “good evening my name is Rose, and I’m your waitress tonight “ . The menu, you have to really like cheese if you want a starter...we liked the old menu, but there is loads of choice.
Excellent evening, great food, great service great atmosphere , highly recommend Southbank.
Had a great evening, fabulous food, great atmosphere will be back
