About som saa
Nestled in an old fabric warehouse near to Spitalfields Market,
som saa is a unique type of restaurant.
We use seasonal British produce and quality Asian ingredients to prepare regional thai dishes with uncompromising flavours.
We are fascinated by old cooking techniques, lesser known dishes and unusual recipes.
The venue and atmosphere of the restaurant is nice. We had the monkfish and guinea fowl curries, which were nice and had some good flavour and spicing. The vegetable salad was the best thing we ate - particularly the tamarind and sesame dressing. However the grilled chicken was underwhelming - very little actual meat on it and the sauce was overpowering. Overall an ok meal but definitely not worth the price and not reflective of good high quality Thai food.
Great restaurant, drinks expensive
Top quality food and service. Perfect meal out. Would happily recommend.
I arrived earlier than my booking time but was taken to my table straight away. Having browse through the menu, I opted for monk fish curry, som Tam and rice. To my amazement, the som tam tasted very authentic, they got it right on every aspects of the key ingredients- sweet, sour, salty, spicy. The best som tam I had outside Thailand. Kudos to the chef - khabkhun 👌🏼👌🏼
Great food and service. One of our three favourite restaurants in London.
Second time in. Best Thai in town. Get the fried fish. One of my fav spots in Spitalfields. Who knew German Riesling goes so well with Thai?!
I love Thai food but it’s not easy to find places in London that really celebrate this cuisine with integrity and respect as Som Saa do. It’s a really unique experience because they take produce we all know to a taste bonanza you have never known. Wonderful.
Very nice. It was my sisters birthday - it would have been nice if they’d seated us in one of the booths.
Delicious food and great service
Great authentic food!
Wonderful evening, as always! From the warm welcome from Jo and a couple of chilli cocktails through to the very delicious food. Loved the minced chicken cake snack and how delicious were the grilled cockles. The new prawn curry is a winner and the chicken leg is one of my favourite dishes here. Great staff, fabulous food, Som Saa remains my favourite Thai.
Me and my best friend went to Som Saa to celebrate my birthday and the food was amazing. I dropped my glass of Prosecco on the floor by accident and they directly bring me back a new one for free. It was really nice! We'll definitely go back to Som Saa.
Really delicious food. One dish per person is sufficient if you don’t want to share 2 per person.
Consistently excellent. More authentic than most in London. Relaxed efficient service. Great buzz in the evening.
Best Thai food ever!!!
My second time dining here and I enjoyed it thoroughly. The dishes are just sublime. Not your average Thai restaurant!
The best restaurant in the world ever!
Brilliant. Will happily come back anytime £25 chef selection highly recommended!
Food was awesome.. that Seabass! Great service and fantastic hospitality, nice to see genuinely nice people who are up for a chat working on the floor. Thanks so much!
Great venue and nice drinks selection. Friendly staff. Unfortunately not too impressed with the current menu but might come back when the menu changes.
I came to Som Saa last night, brining my family after visiting a couple weeks ago with my partner. I had been banging on about it and demanded we go together as my meal was amazing and we love Thai food. The food was impeccable (as it was the first time) and we had the special wine on which was great too. Unfortunately we had a waitress serving us who knew absolutely nothing about the menu and was late on taking orders/ bringing drinks and bill over when asked. When I asked questions abou the menu she just decided to make up the answers rather than pulling over a colleague to assist us, which i would have rathered. She told me she was new which I understand completely as everybody has to start somewhere. However the girl obviously hadn’t been trained well enough on the menu before being sent out to face clients. Fortunately I had been before and assured my family that it wasn’t like this when I came last, however if we were visiting for the first time I probably would never return. With that in mind, I would also refrain from bringing clients here for a dinner incase this was the case again. I do hope you put more time into training your staff in future as your food is excellent and i wouldn’t want bad service to tarnish your brand. I hope this feedback is helpful to you. Many thanks ! Millie
Visited numerous times and found the food to be superb we will visit again when in london
Some food took too long to arrive.
