About som saa
Nestled in an old fabric warehouse near to Spitalfields Market,
som saa is a unique type of restaurant.
We use seasonal British produce and quality Asian ingredients to prepare regional thai dishes with uncompromising flavours.
We are fascinated by old cooking techniques, lesser known dishes and unusual recipes.
Excellent food and drinks! Loved the venison especially...grit and friendly waitress...definitely coming back!
The staff is GREAT. The food is GREAT. One suggestion --- the orange pepper that you serve with one or two of your dishes REALLY LOOKS LIKE A SMALL CARROT in the dark of your great restaurant. I think that servers should warn guests that the pepper is a pepper and not a carrot to avoid spicy surprises! I also LOVE your BYOB corkage policy. I am returning next week !!!!
One of the best places for authentic Thai food in London. Stunning food and incredible flavours.
One of the best Thai food in London.
Waiter failed to deliver our starter. Tap beers were not working on the night. Then our favourite bottled beer was sold out. How is it possible in a place with limited tables? We felt we've been put under pressure on ordering food, infact the kitchen was closing 30 miutes after they've allocated us a table. Food was oustanding though!
Brilliant! Everything about the place is great.
Very fresh ingredients
Food was amazing, it’s not your Standard Thai
It was my first time dining at Som Saa after reading reviews about how great it was. We had a great table in a corner and ordered a few different dishes. Service was good although at times, it felt like the servers popped by very frequently. It occurred to me a bit later it may have been to hurry us up a little as there was another reservation after our sitting (which was specified in my confirmation, but we were caught up chatting). We had the duck broth and Asian mushroom soup which was lovely and flavourful (a little salty). The steak was good perfectly, however, I expected deeper flavour. The pork belly was well seasoned and perfectly cooked that it melted in your mouth. I was disappointed with the sea bass, understanding it was deep fried, I felt it was over cooked, dry and rather bland. Although it was well garnished, there wasn’t much flavour. I was excited about the jackfruit dessert, but when it arrived, it didn’t look overly appealing and not to my taste. The salted palm sugar ice cream was delicious, but I found it was a little too sweet, but the bananas were beautifully prepared and a good complement to the ice cream. Overall a good experience, but expected it a little more based on reviews. The server kindly offered us seats at the front table so we didn’t have to rush and leave, but we opted to pay the bill and leave.
Waiters were not that attentive and the portions were really small and over priced
We had the set lunch menu and it was delicious. Really fun trying things I've never had before and sharing food. Very friendly and attentive staff..
Great food and drinks!
We love everything about Som Saa: great food, great atmosphere, the staff are very friendly and helpful. We'll be back for sure.
Really enjoyed our evening - the staff and food were amazing. The one thing that stuck a little as we left was the price of the alcohol. All 4 of us came away feeling like we'd paid too much which was a shame. We loved the food, but realistically won't be back due to the cost of the alcohol. If you're a tee totaller - absolutely go!
Not only was the food fantastic but the impeccable service closed the deal. Thank you for a great night.
Overall great experience! However what I didn’t like is that the service person told us three times to choose 4 mains even though I said that I am not that hungry and three will do it which made me feel being pushed and it’s what I remember more than the taste of the meals. I’d rather not experience that again. Thanks.
Great food and service. Second visit and will definitely be back again.
I have been coming to Som Saa since its pop up residency and am continuously blown away by its quality, creativity and authentic flavors. I lived in Thailand for some time and Som Saa in London is the only place I have found these flavors again that bring back so many memories of a place and food I love so much. Thank you to Som Saa and to your entire team <3
Absolutely loved the place since the first time they opened it, came back again and will return in future.
