Thank you Mary Joy for your Top class service we really had a great time with my friend. Keep it up! She is definitely an asset to the company. Overall everything is perfect and will definitely be back again. Thank you :-)
The food not good enough
The staff were lovely and there attention to detail was excellent
High tea was beautiful, service excellent, great choices. We loved it and will be back.
The savoury food are excellent. Very good service by Mary Joy. She makes sure we are enjoying the high tea. It was a very nice celebrating birthday with friends in Sofi’s.
We had a wonderful time and look forward to returning
We have been to High Tea before and there were more hot food choices as well as more cold (there was only finger sandwiches this time, no other cold choices such as cheese etc). Wait Staff came around more often to pour Tea and Brewed Coffee. You could order other types of tea and coffee if you liked, my preference would be the bottomless cup as before.
Lovely atmosphere and attentive service. Food excellent but would benefit from more choice.
Table service was inattentive, we had to ask for our beverages, which detracted from the occasion.
Too many flies
Overall great experience.
I have been receiving promotional emails to Monochromatic High Tea at the Sofitel. I would like to caution eveyone of their expectations on Sofi's Lounge's advertised weekend High Tea experience. We had a 2:30 pm booking for my family of four for 20/01/2019 Sunday Buffet High Tea at Sofi's Lounge made online via my Accor Plus membership. Consequently we were extremely let down and disappointed when we were only informed when already there and seated, that buffet high tea had apparently been cancelled, and only the regular weekday-style, limited offering, afternoon tea was being served that Sunday! Incredibly, we were not informed of this at the beginning when being shown to our booked table. This was a complete misrepresentation of what was advertised in their promotional materials and on their website, with no efforts being made to call us on the booking made to inform of this prior to the day. Consequently although this was not sufficient to ruin our family occasion, it was an extremely disappointing experience and a big let down to our expectations and anticipation of a special occasion. What is perhaps the worse part of this experience was that although I formally lodged a complain to both Sofitel and Sofi's Lounge management, all I received was a cursory and disingenuous email to say I missed their call, and no follow up after. How ridiculous for a 5-star establishment! Sofi's Lounge cannot be recommended, there are many other establishments in Melbourne that are better able to meet customers' expectations at these high standards. I have also decided not to renew my Accor Plus membership. Thank you.
Our second visit for birthday celebrations and we enjoyed it just as much as the first!
The service was not very good. I had to wave to get their attention, even though we were waiting to be seated. We were offered tea and coffee, but she never came back for the order. I had to approach the waitress to make the order. The foood was great, especially the rose petite four and the vanilla cake.
Fabulous high tea experience. An absolute highlight of our Melbourne weekend.
Wow Wow Wow . Simply amazing. I was there with 16 of my girlfriends and we just had an amazing time was. Great staff, amazing atmosphere, excellent service. Couldn't have asked for anything better. Everything was Five star. Great Job
Every thing was lovely and staff wonderful.
The staff were very friendly & helpful. Whilst all the food was beautifully presented and delightful, we found that the sandwiches just lack a little bit of oomph. They were somewhat bland, needed just a touch more flavour. However, once we began the desserts, we had entered flavour town and were kind of grateful we hadn't been overrun by the sandwiches. Overall, a very lovely & enjoyable experience. We shall definitely be back! Thank you.
Service terrible, food generally stale, gluten free serving very ordinary, solitary scone served frozen, handed back still 3/4 frozen, bread very dry, this was special day for my wife who is gluten free, so a terrible experience, waiter didn't explain anything about the various teas on offer, just said ' tea or coffee' very ordinary spumante, or cuvée very rough around the edges, don't call it champagne if it's not! All in all very disappointing Sofia's has dropped its standards alarmingly, just the lack of freshness of the food was the most disappointing, will recommend to no one
Booked the escher x nendo high tea, with 'everflowing' champagne so that the actual exhibit would be even more fun afterwards. The food, drink and atmosphere was fun. However, the service, lack of communication and continually having to ask for a drink or something that was ordered was truly frustrating. For example, we asked for a refill of 'everflowing' champagne (after trying to catch any one of the six staff members for a while...it was our first refill), our waitress said of course, then proceeded to clean other tables and talk to other guests, right in front of us. At the end of the day, 'everflowing' means one drink every 45 minutes, it took at least 15 minutes after every drink to have someone even bother to look over, then another 15 to have anyone deign to bring it to us. This was one example of many, and honestly I wouldn't have even brought it up in a review, but it became so bad it became funny when my partner and I made it a game to see what the new 'bad service bar' would be every time someone ignored us or rudely told us how difficult it was to work there.
The time from ordering an additional glass of champagne and my pot of tea was 25 mins until I said something and then the order was expedited. I felt this was unreasonable. This is not the first time we have had high tea and in this occasions I felt the staff were not as experienced and attentive as usual.
Very slow in service and a lot of the food served on the day was very dry and inedible. We left many untouched.
Fabulous intimate atmosphere. Lovely service. Nice ambience. Lovely piano in back ground Only problem was air conditioning was freezing
The service was too slow. Took about 40 mins for the sandwiches and cheeses to appear. Also the staff found it difficult to hear English. The staff were not attentive to the needs of the patrons. There was a constant stream of blow flies and fruit flies. Very annoying and kept touching the food. Overall experience was not up to the usual standard and disappointing! 😧
We greatly enjoyed the occasion. The Escher theme was fun and the high tea was delicious. However, we did have some issues that might be sensible to report in order to give useful feedback. Our table was not ready on time and then, when it was offered to us, we had to ask to have a different position as we had been put in a crowded spot with the TV very close. As I had expressly requested a quiet spot, this was disappointing. We eventually (1/2 hour after the booking) got a sofa position that was very nice. The staff were friendly but seemed a bit stretched in terms of being able to give focused service. Probably, a bit more staff training would be useful. As I said at the outset, overall it was a delightful occasion but the Sofitel could enhance its service.
