About Bar Soba Byres Road
In January 2012 we took Bar Soba west to Byres Road. With its street art interiors and proximity to Glasgow University it has fast become popular with student diners. This is, in no short measure we’re sure, due to our unbeatable 2 for 1 on mains deals for students, available all day from Monday to Thursday and until 5pm on Friday.
Really appreciate having gluten free options marked on the main menu. Disappointed that it was very cold (put our coats back on halfway through the meal) and the music was too loud for a quiet Monday night.
We were in for the boozy brunch and were very impressed! Great value for money and great food.
Good menu range and food was good value for money, particularly with the portion sizes. Nice atmosphere in the place although music could run a little better, place went quiet every few minutes.
Always have a good experience here. Before heading to Oran Mor, we started with delicious steamed prawn crystal dumplings with a sesame & ginger dip; and amazing aubergine and broccoli tempura, with a mint yogurt dip. The mains were a brilliant nasi goreng including tempura veg; and Pad Thai noodles with chicken and tiger prawns. The lady wasn't keen on the noodles but enjoyed the other flavours. Reflecting back, if she'd known, she'd have maybe asked to substitute thin rice noodles instead of udon if possible. However, her little disappointment was balanced by the delightful waitress who offered to buy the cappuccino! Despite being a busy Saturday night, the service was quick and efficient, and the atmosphere was great. The waiting staff were attentive and checked that we were satisfied a number of times without being intrusive. Thanks Bar Soba- we'll be back soon. Cliff & Kathleen, x
Amazing food and atmosphere! Can't wait for our next visit!
Prompt service ensured we were well within our 90 slot.
understandable that it was a saturday night but service was slow and staff weren't great at communicating to each other about whether our orders had been taken etc. Otherwise all were very friendly and polite and we had a great evening overall.
Boozy brunch deal was great
First visit to the byres road branch and won't be my last!!! Great service from Sam, very attentive and made sure we were enjoying the recommendations she gave us. The kiwi cocktail is amazing! Over all Great food and service. Very reasonable bill at the end for two courses and two cocktails each too.
Amazing service and staff! 10/10 all round! Just perfect!
Had a fantastic lunch and all staff were great. Only issue was from the open plan kitchen. Everyone was coughing from spices and chilli in the air. You need better extractor fans. We had to move seat and open the door it was that bad
Staff very friendly and food lovely
Food was delicious but let down by the number of flies in the restaurant. Had seen this on reviews but always like to make my own observation. True enough flies landing on food and buzzing about several of them. This is clearly a problem that needs dealt with and must be an environmental health issue.
Had a very disappointing meal here last Saturday. The food was not as good as it normally is when we eat here and the place was swarming with flies and I mean 'swarming' we couldn't enjoy our meal at all and the food not up to par - Sorry - not what you want to hear !!!!!!
Food and drink was lovely. The fly situation needs to get sorted because it really ruined it for my friend And I having lunch. Constantly having to swipe away files isn't great and it's not the first time we've experienced this at byres road.
It was clear when we arrived that there had been no table for five people reserved for us. We were taken through to the bar and offered seats at the bar, of which there were only 3. After noting that this wasn't acceptable the waiting staff kindly cleared a table through the back next to the toilets where takeaway orders were being prepared. Although I appreciate the effort of the waiting staff... what's the point in booking a table if one isn't reserved.
Amazing value for money, food was so fresh, cocktails amazing and staff were lovely
Morgan served us on Thursday night and was really friendly and attentive. Love the food and cocktails, great place to go.
Really enjoyed my recent visit. Phenomenonal service, we invited along two friends very last minute and they went out of their way to find us a bigger table on a busy night (and within 5 minutes even though it looked full inside). Staff were attentive and friendly throughout and our waitress truly made our visit special. Food was tasty and fresh and my mocktials tasted just like the real thing!!! Can't wait to come again and I'll ditch the car next time 🤣
Visiting Scotland first time. We were couple, a senior and child went for dinner at Soba Byres road place using Tesco clubcard vouchers. Nicely presented and rich quality and tasty food. We ordered Nasi Goreng, Cauli and Peas curry rice, Gyoza dumplings, and Geisha buns. Geisha and Gyoza 5 stars for taste and quality. and 4 Stars for Cauli and Peas curry rice since too much mustard seeds carried away the actual taste. The drinks were excellent. The ambience and place is small but very friendly staff and definitely worth visiting!!!.
We had a great night with excellent service and amazing food and cocktails! Only thing that was slightly off-putting was that it was so warm in the restaurant but other than that a very enjoyable evening. Bar Soba is one of our favourite restaurants so it was a must-go before we move country.
Had an amazing night in Soba, food and service where great. Will be back again soon
Didn't like being put in the bar area. Had a table reserved but we were seated in the bar. Far too noisy, spoiled our dinner to be honest. Food fantastic though.
10/10 service and food. Well done bar soba - my new favourite place for sure!!!
