Smokehouse Islington opened its doors in August 2013 to much critical acclaim. We’ve won our fair share of plaudits but our philosophy is still the same. Offer the best and most original smoked and grilled food in London, have the best beer list in London (20 on tap, 60 in the bottle) and source wine from small family-owned vineyards only.
We work with the best farms in the UK and butcher our meat on site to create a specials board bursting with coal-grilled prime cuts and slow-cooked specialities.
5* pub Sunday roast
Great food, great drink, great company. Loved the canopy too, and much needed on the day we came.
There was a risk of rain but we accepted a table uncovered. As soon as the rain started the team brought us umbrellas, and when the tain didn’t stop they managed to squeeze us onto a covered table between two bookings to be able to eat. Super grateful, and food was delicious
Really good food with lovely staff
Great food and wine list!
As always, amazing food, great atmosphere and fantastic service - Welcome back, we've missed you!
Starters and sirloin were delicious. We will definitely be back once we can eat inside!
Great food and service. I will definitely go back.
Shared a 300g rump, greens, chips (the best I’ve had in AGES), and cremeux pudding was awesome too. Loved every bit of it.
So happy to be back! Food was as good as ever and the courtyard looked lovely!
Stunning and felicious
We were very disappointed with the quality of the food when we visited Smokehouse, after reading excellent reviews we were very excited for a roast lunch at Smokehouse. However, the experience did not live up to expectations. My friend and I got the roast chicken to share instead of it coming as a whole up-right chicken it was a tiny squashed chicken carcass which looked as unappetising as it sounds. The chicken skin was soggy and the chicken had no flavour. The saving grace of the roast was a the gravy in which we drowned the meat. The puddings were equally disappointing. There was not a single hot pudding on the dessert menu which we found surprising as something like a sticky toffee pudding is a delight on a Sunday. My friend got the Buttermilk pudding which was a sour version of a panna cotta and far less enjoyable. The Smokehouse have done well in decorating the outdoor covered space which makes it an enjoyable place to spend a few hours.
Just, utterly fantastic
Really great place, would go back
Great customer service!
We had a lovely birthday lunch here on Saturday. The food was delicious and the service friendly. Our waiter dealt with us arguing over who paid the bill with a cool head too!
Had a lovely evening. Staff were v friendly and our server was attentive eithout being overbearing! My only reason for not giving higher stars was due to the pricing. We were treating friends do paying the bill. We did not have starters, just mains and dessert. Steak was good but felt v pricey making the overall bill high.
Great service, friendly staff and delicious food, look forward to going back !
Great food. Great atmosphere. Staff are somewhat grumpy and everything seems to feel like a chore - I think I asked for wine about 3 times. Was disappointed to see my birthday dessert (that was delivered to the table with a candle) to be on the receipt for £8 despite the bill totalling £270 - I had to pay for my own birthday cake !
Delicious food and very good outdoor dining set up.
We were very happy to be back at one of our favorite restaurants in London and it did not disappoint! They've done a lovely job with the outdoor space, making it cozy and welcoming. The staff was attentive and the food was excellent. Already looking forward to our next visit.
I love the Smokehouse; the food is always delicious!
The garden area is very sheltered and fully covered. Nice atmosphere. The only issue was with the beef shortribs which were advertised on the menu as being served with sprouting broccoli, so we ordered chips to accompany. When the dish arrived there was no sprouting broccoli and what looked like swiss chard plus potatoes on the plate. We sent one of the chips back, only to discover that the "potatoes" were actually turnips, but we hadn't been told. Other than that the pork chop was amazing.
The food and service are great. In General, good atmosphere and nice ambiance, I was hoping for some more heaters outside though as it was quite cold. It is a bit pricey but given that the food is a bit more special, that’s ok.
