About Simon Radley at The Chester Grosvenor
Simon Radley at The Chester Grosvenor offers contemporary dining in an atmosphere of chic sophistication. The award winning restaurant has retained its Michelin star since 1990 and has four AA rosettes. The 2012 Sunday Times Top 100 restaurants in the UK listed Simon Radley at The Chester Grosvenor in 19th place and 2nd in the Northwest.
Each dish which features on the menu has been lovingly prepared by our dedicated team of Chef’s and the cellar is one of the most extensive in England with over 1000 bins from all over the world. With such a wide selection available, our resident Sommelier is on hand to assist with friendly advice and recommendations.
I cannot really rate "Value for Money" as this was a gift from my daughter and I do not know the cost. The food was excellent and the service a wonder to behold. My mother and I were really impressed with the way the tables were served, also with the bread trolley. A most enjoyable experience altogether.
A simply stunning luxury hotel. Congratulations to you all. Exquisite customer service throughout our stay, five star. Thank you
Our meal was just wonderful, as was the service, but a special mention to the sommelier, whose advice and choices were excellent.
We have visted the restaurant several times before and we have never been disappointed, the seasonal menu changes are great. The staff are always very courteous and smiling, very knowledgeable about the food & wine. They also recognise us which is a nice touch. I would highly recommend the taster menu and take the sommelier wine advice when choosing the wines, he does not try to up sell, but gives his honest opinion on why he recommences each bottle.
This was an amazing experience. Highly recommended.
Disappointed to see that the dress code was not adhered to. Jeans and tee shirts and 'no ties' seemed to be the order of the day. In view of your description of the dress code I was surprised to be asked if I would like to remove my jacket. But I held out and eventually witnessed one other gentleman wearing his jacket for dinner, sadly without a tie...
A lovely meal and enjoyable time
Brilliant service. Food not bad either
Exceptional food, service & value for money would highly recommend & already have recommended to a friend
A most enjoyable and relaxed evening. Very attentive and knowledgable staff that made the evening very special for us.
An absolutely fabulous dining experience!!! We will definitely be back. Thank you
Service a real stand out....everyone very welcoming and knowledgeable.
Service preference appears to be given to those choosing the tasting menu (we were on a la carte which in fact was closer to a traditional table d'hote menu) Temperature of first and main course only just acceptable. First course (sweetbreads, mushrooms and truffle) was heavy and claggy. Mains (beef and grouse) were excellent apart from the temperature. Finished plates were not cleared away in a timely fashion. Wine service was sporadic. Overall unsatisfactory considering the price paid. We refused to accept the automatic 12.5% service charge which was, in fairness, graciously taken off the bill.
Wonderful food, drinks and evening
Wonderful food and service knowledgable and friendly staff the sommelier had great wine and food knowledge. The range of breads was unbelievable wanted to try them all!
Our visit to the Grosvenor was to celebrate an anniversary. We decided on one of the few Michellin starred establishments in the North West, fully expecting it to be a rare treat. In the dining area, despite the space not being crowded we were sat with 4 other couples, almost within arms length. Any non public conversation was impossible. We opted for the tasting menu. The initial courses were uneventful with the exception of the salted cod, which was superb and the duck breast excellent. Then came the grouse! The pain as I bit into a small piece of breast was excruciating, a shot emebedded itself into a rear filling, forcing the filling upwards with great force. The rest of the evening was spent in pain, it being impossible to eat. The remainder of the meal could not be enjoyed or commented upon. The staff did offer me assistance and even pain killers, going to great lengths on several occasions to insist that the chef had said: when eating game, shot is to be expected. Staff did remove 10% from the bill which I thought was somewhat paltry considering. Nothing in the menu or in the description of the dish by the servers indicated the bird had be shot, had it been the case I would have taken more care or even not taken the dish. Not informing I feel was remiss. The remainder of my visit to the UK was spent with pain, though it did ease as the time went on. On arrival back in Singapore I had the filling replaced at a cost greater than that of the meal. In summary, two of the dishes were exceptional, the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. I suggest you ask at the start of your meal if any of the dishes contain shot meat.
Superb food & wine. Staff extremely friendly, polite & efficient
The perfect dining experience. If you love good food, the Tasting Menu is simply superb with Service to match.
Excellent cuisine and customer service
This was our third visit and it was our favourite experience. We enjoyed the beautiful meal and the service was excellent, in particular we enjoyed the time that Boris took to explain the wines and he gave us a quick tour of the wine cellar, it made the evening very interesting and special. Thank you to Boris.
Amazing food and service!
A very good birthday meal. Excellent professional but friendly service. We had the a la carte menu which was very good. All courses excellent. We only had a couple of cheap drinks - bill came to £245 with service (for two). So not cheap, but thanks for a good evening.
Consistently top class food and service. Never fails to deliver with warmth and professionalism throughout the business.
First class food and service - as always.
Very enjoyable dining experience
