We enjoyed wonderful foods, drinks and atmosphere.
excellent meal with excellent service
Fantastic food,service and atmosphere
The restaurant and hotel staff continue to deliver time and time again. Simply wonderful evening and thank you, keep up the great work..
Exquisite - thank you very much for a very memorable evening
What an amazing experience
This was bought as a gift for us, we were rather reluctant to make use of it as we expected a very formal and rather snobby evening! We were very pleasantly surprised - extremely friendly staff and atmosphere, exchange of information and staff knowledge was excellent - we had a bit of banter too! Will do it again. Well done you all and thank you.
Very friendly service, relaxing and not too pretentious. Made to feel valued by all staff. Staff were also very knowledgeable about all dishes and wines
The evening was excellent made all the more special by the attentiveness of all the staff especially the somelier.
We had the taster menu which was delicious and beautifully presented. We left the choice of wine to the sommelier and were very glad we did as his choice perfect. All the staff were extremely pleasant and professional. We will definitely do this again. We felt cocooned and cossetted from the moment we walked through the front door.
My wife and I had the tasting menu with the wine pairing. Whilst many of the dishes were very good, and the wine pairings were good, I had lead shot in my pheasant, which I pointed out to the waitress tending our table. Whilst she acknowledged it and she said she would inform Chef Radley, nothing more was said. Not what I expect from a Michelin star restaurant. Also my wife was ill after the meal. To be honest we've had better experiences in restaurants charging half the price.
Lovely meal for special occasions
The service got 2 stars only as after the meal we were asked to move for a coffee to the bar which was just horrible, cold, next door room and after spending nearly £300 we were just left there with no one around to ask for some more coffee etc... Very disappointed as the staff looked tired and not interested in what they do and for this sort of money Simon Ridley wouldn't even have proper professional waitress but using the same hotel's staff as their "helpers ". Really dissatisfied with the finish of the evening as I had to walk around to find someone to get my bill. Then while waiting for our car we had to listen to all the night shift instructions given to the cleaners as what they will be cleaning tonight etc. This is appalling as the security guy kept bossing the cleaners around while we just sat there in the reception. This was supposed to be a Michelin star service from start to finish but we've received the Very "cheap" copy of it. The heavy accent spoken English ( waiters) was often difficult to understand , Simon Radley please spent some money on proper training of your staff !!!! We have been to similar level restaurants quite a few times and We know that here we've received the cheap cheap version of Michelin service. Also, the 12% service charge is already included in the bill to make it awkward Not To Pay it. Well, if you expect some special experience in the bad way then this is the place to go to. Furthermore, the restaurant is just another hotel room next to the bar so nothing special there. The same waiters went to continue their shift to the hotel's caffee afterwards dragging their feet, just the same way we saw them in Simon's ... This is Not about the staff, they were trying their best, but it's about the restaurant's management trying to earn more money using the same "12 hour shift " hotel's personnel to do it all. Food is ok apart from the desert which was a mix of lots of sugar and chocolate with no taste so nowhere near the expected Michelin star level. Expensive and disappointingly Low level Birthday treat. :(((((
Food and service very good. Environment nice but a little old fashioned.
An amazing evening with exceptional food and drink. All of the staff worked as a team and seemed to be proud to be there. Would not hesitate to recommend this experience. The sommelier is worth a special mention.
Excellent food and service
The whole experience was great however the dining room would DEFINITELY benefit from "a little - not loud" background music.
My wife and I had a wonderful evening enjoying the eight course taster meal accompanied by matching wines.
Fabulous thank you
Great dining experience with faultless service and great interaction from the team.
As always, an excellent evening. Service was exceptional, the atmosphere was refined and special and the food was exquisite. We believe that Simon Radley's is the best restaurant in the North of England.
Myself and my partner found our experience absolutely faultless! The whole experience was unbelievable. The food, service, knowledge about each course from our waiters and the general atmosphere was unlike anything we've experienced before. We will definitely be treating ourselves to another visit in the future. Thank you to all who made our visit so special.
Derrick and Gethin were very attentive and informative. We had a great evening!
