About Simon Radley at The Chester Grosvenor
Simon Radley at The Chester Grosvenor offers contemporary dining in an atmosphere of chic sophistication. The award winning restaurant has retained its Michelin star since 1990 and has four AA rosettes. The 2012 Sunday Times Top 100 restaurants in the UK listed Simon Radley at The Chester Grosvenor in 19th place and 2nd in the Northwest.
Each dish which features on the menu has been lovingly prepared by our dedicated team of Chef’s and the cellar is one of the most extensive in England with over 1000 bins from all over the world. With such a wide selection available, our resident Sommelier is on hand to assist with friendly advice and recommendations.
Fantastic evening, worth every penny.
As far as we are concerned we could not fault anything about our evening at Simon Radley. The staff were excellent, the food out of this world and the wine flight gave us the chance to try some different wines we would never usually think of. Ideally, we were offered the chance to share a wine flight, or even have (as we did) one and a half flights, perfect. A visit here to indulge in the Tasting Menu is such a marvellous experience, it is wonderful, although I do feel a bit guilty as it is so far from just eating to live when so many people find it hard to afford enough food to eat. On the upside at least you are helping people in the catering industry to make a living and they deserve to be given the highest praise. I wish we could eat there every week! Thank you for a great night.
We had a wonderful evening and the staff were all absolutely excellent. The food was beautifully prepared, flavours wonderful but unfortunately the main courses were not hot and only luke warm. I did specifically mention this issue when we sat down that we have found this a problem before. Sadly it was the same as before. Possibly with all the lovely touches by the time the meals are ready to serve they are no longer hot? Also as you like to bring them all together then maybe there is an issue there? However we had a super evening and this is the only criticism I have. Everything else was magnificent. We will return for sure.
Faultless top quality imaginative food. Of the many superb meals we have enjoyed at this venue this ranks as one of the most memorable
Excellent service. Saw to our every need. The staff were amazing and were very professional, but also chatty and genuinely lovely. The food was also unfaultable.
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We opted for the taster menu with matching wines. Most of the courses were served unacceptably cold and one course took so long to arrive we needed to ask where it was. A waiter we assumed to be the headwaiter was incredibly rude towards a younger waiter who was serving wine at our table. He walked over and roughly snatched the wine from his hands whilst using insulting language towards him. The poor waiter looked so embarrassed yet worried. We found this so unacceptable that we left the table before finishing our meal and drinks. Totally unacceptable and distressing. Although a lady, we assumed to be in charge, tried to make amends and counsel us in a very small office we strongly feel that the whole incident should never have arisen. Even being taken aside to a side office we found unsettling. Whether the incident was a case of overzealous colleague banter or something more sinister like bullying we will never know for sure, either way this is not the type of behaviour you would expect to take place in a five star hotel Michelin star restaurant whilst out celebrating a very special occasion. Totally ruined our experience and stay
Exclusive, extra special, elegant
Excellent meal in a wonderful setting. Top notch service coated in a layer of relaxed northern English charm. Amongst the happiest meals I’ve ever enjoyed, and I have already recommended Simon Radley at the Grosvenor to countless colleagues!
We had a wonderful evening at the Simon Radley restaurant, the Grosvenor, Chester last night. A real treat. The food was delicious and the service, although extremely professional, we still felt every member of staff was warm and personable. Thank you.
From stepping through their door to stepping back out a truly wonderful experience. Service, food, wine and drinks could not be faulted, will certainly be returning.
outstanding food and service as always!
Great food and service - especially the tasting menu with wine flight. The only slightly negative comment would be having a 'gratuity' box on the credit card payment when we are already charged a 12.5% service charge which is not really clear at the time of paying unless you look hard for it.
A wonderful evening full of surprise. A terrific menu and service all night. It was my wifes 30th and the restaurant was very accommodating throughout. The bread trolley was FANTASTIC! Can't wait to have the time to visit again!
The service was fantastic from the wait staff, but the overall flow of the taster session was extremely slow. None of the party felt the food was particularly memorable course to course, although it was nice. The vegetarian option felt overpriced, as it was basically the normal menu with meat removed. The wine waiter was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I wouldn’t return for the taster menu, but possibly the standard menu would be interesting to try.
We had a amazing meal for my husbands birthday,a wonderful experience with delicious food and fantastic service.the wine sommelier suggestions were perfect.and the attention to detail was incredible.
A truly amazing food experience, extremely knowledgable waiting staff providing in depth knowledge of the wine and food it complimented
My wife and I both agree that this was quite simply the best meal and overall dining experience from pre-dinner drinks, canapes to cheese that we have ever had. The wine choices suggested by Derek were superb and his attentive style and non-pushy manner made the night even more special. A week later and we are still drooling over it and cant wait to return.
Our whole special occasion dining experience at Chester Grosvenor Simon Radley restaurant was second to none. The quality of food, the staff, whatever their roll are polite, knowledgeable and attentive. We thoroughly recommend The Simon Radley dining for any occasion, you won't be dissapointed.
Still using plastic straws 😐 The vegetarian taster menu wasn't great, the corn dish was one dimensional. Last year's menu was so good, what happened? The staff and the service was great as usual.
We have had the pleasure of dining at Simon Radley on several occasions and have always thoroughly enjoyed the experience, having the tasting menu with accompanying wines. On this occasion we felt that the menu had too much emphasis on fish dishes, the mackerel course in particular being quite strong flavoured and overpowering the selected wine (sorry Derek).
Throughout the experience the staff were very attentive and professional, explaining every detail of the meal. Considering the many canapés and appetisers throughout the meal the cost is actually very reasonable. A great experience for any special occasion.
Superb food, wine and dining experience. Well trained staff and a sommelier who really knew his wines! Fantastic.
Impeccable attention to detail and sublime food. Bread trolley was amazing!
