About Signal Restaurant
Our experienced Executive Chef and the team at The Station House Hotel are well aware that good food is an integral part of gracious living. With pride and pleasure, excellent dishes - using only the freshest ingredients - are prepared to delight our most discerning guests. The restaurant has been independently assessed by food critics and has been awarded many prestigious awards and accolades of excellence and quality for its varied and inspired cuisine.
Lovely place with fantastic food. Have had Sunday lunch here twice recentky- the first occasion was good enough to bring the whole family for round 2!
Food overall was hearty and tasty. However the starter selection was unappealing...all of party (of 8) struggled to find something they would like to eat. The main courses were flavourful and filling although some of my friends were disappointed with the appearance of the chorizo carbonara, I think they felt that it was not to restaurant standard.
The restaurant is absolutely five star. Amazing, diverse menu with loads of choice. Complimentary bread and cappucino soup are beautiful, small touches that add a lot. Staff are second to none - friendly and efficient. The table d'hote menu is excellent value for money as well. Couldn't fault the place!
Our Afternoon Tea (for 4) was a delight... A wonderful selection of Open sandwiches, (Vs usual finger sandwiches) on a variety of beautiful homemade breads, 3 each plus... 2 perfect mini scones each with jam and cream and a medley of mini cakes/desserts - 4 of each meant everyone got to taste everything and left feeling satisfied !!! More Tea/Coffee offered throughout and a glass of Prosecco included. STAFF lovely including, Owners - everyone, without exception, was very friendly and attentive, therefore atmosphere lovely plus nice "olde worlde" setting. We had a Voucher (discounted rate) but I'd still recommend it. I would go back again.
LOVELY AFTERNOON TEA FOOD WAS BEAUTIFUL STAFF WERE FRIENDLY LOVELY WARM ATMOSPHERE WILL RETURN
Staff were excellent. Even though they were very busy they were attentive.
Service so very, very slow .
we are regular customers but were very dissapointed on Fathers Day as food was not as good as usual and we were given a table in a very confined space.
Great meeting in great atmosphere. Great!
I had a lovely meal. Very enjoyable and tasty. If I could change anything, the service could have been a little quicker in the restaurant and I would have enjoyed vegetables to accompany my meal, rather than having to order them as a side dish. These points would however not stop me from returning in the near future. It was a lovely stay. Thank you.
Le service est très aimable mais mal organisé et très lent. La gastronomie est légère et de bonne qualité,parfait. Nous avions demandé le petit-déjeuner pour 7:30 h. mais peu de choses se passent avant 8 heures!
I was here with my daughter for her First Communion on Sat 13th May. The venue and the staff were amazing. The staff really made my daughter feel special and treated her like royalty. The gardens were beautiful and we had some good weather to make the most of them for some great photos. I would highly recommend The Station House for any special occasion or even for a nice day out.
Thank you for a most enjoyable, relaxed day. Food was faultless. The grounds are beautiful. The kids loved the freedom to roam and the parents were relaxed knowing there was no traffic to worry about. We'll be back for all our family occasions. Keep up the good work.
The food in the Signal Restaurant is excellent. Having eaten here many times, it was an easy choice for our daughter's christening party. As always, the food was amazing and Henri and the team were professional, courteous and made our special day extra special.
Food was just alright. Wine at €7.50 per glass is away over priced. Room in need of re-decoration - nothing has changed for years. On reflection I don't think food was that good of value. As restaurant was almost empty there wasn't much of an atmosphere. On website I was as to vacate at 8.15pm which was off putting. It will be a while before we visit again
We are a party of six that had lunch last Sunday and have been there on numerous occasions. I have to say that we did not enjoy it at all this time. We were seated beside the dummy waiter and the kitchen doors and all we could hear was the non stop banging of the doors closing as well as some noise from waiting staff at the dummy waiter. I did not say anything at the time as we had taken our two mothers out for lunch as they always enjoyed lunch there and did not want to create a fuss. What I cannot understand is why we were seated there while the restaurant was only just over half full? It has turned me off from going again in the future. Please bear this in mind when you are seating people in future.
This venue and dining experience was excellent from start to finish - a choice of homemade breads with tapenades while we awaited our appetizers, and both main course and dessert were of very high standard (not to mention it was part of a meal deal which included wine). Altogether a great night out.
Warm and welcoming, stunning setting. Food is always amazing and the staff cannot do enough to accommodate. This is our 'go to' venue for family celebrations.
Fab meal for a family, couldn't fault it
only problem was there was a draught from the window
A lovely experience.
Very good experience - staff very accommodating and made a special vegetarian option for one of the party. It was a 60th birthday and lovely thoughtful touch with personalised menus.
The food was excellent and very enjoyable every course was as good as the next it was faultless. .Unfortunately the service I only gave 3 stars to as they had charged a costly round of drinks to my bill which had been paid for at the bar ..this proved rather embarrassing the next morning. .which was a pity ending such a perfect night away on a mistake made by the service team really should not happen and no apology made on their behalf
I would highly recommend the food as it was superb and would return again, but as for the accommodation I can only describe as very basic, on entering our room the first thing noticeable were the Giant Cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, the next problem was the lack of hot water, we could neither use the shower on Saturday evening or Sunday morning because of no hot water, both times we contacted reception but nothing was done about it. The lack of basic housekeeping lets the hotel down.
Steak and rack of Lamb cooked exactly as ordered. The 4 course €30 offer is a great idea. However, for customers ordering just a main (Steak and Rack of Lamb) at €30 each, maybe a complimentary side on these two dishes would be a good idea. The food itself was delicious.
