Some Sandwiches were dry , tables decorations were bland not even a small vase flowers , could have been so much nicer in the beautiful setting
The hotel is lovely the food is exellent all the staff are lovely people my brother used the exellent Gym every day.
Had a very relaxing time
Enjoyed our Christmas break Staff very helpful and good service Spa is brilliant with its Infinity pool Very good back massage
My husband ordered the "Turkey with all the Trimmings"...the turkey was dry, the roast potatoes and veg were overcooked and shrivelled, and sprouts were raw!! It was served on what looked like a salad plate. The "chef" should have been ashamed to send it out of the kitchen! The service wasn't much better...we probably saw our waiter twice. If we had eaten before going to the spa we wouldn't have stayed the night. Breakfast was just as bad!!! We had to ask for cutlery and napkins. All of the breakfast was way overcooked and looked like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. Our experience was as far from fine dining as you can get. If you can't offer the standard of food and service you advertise then you should either get in more experienced staff or reduce the amount of guests you allow. How sad...we complained and were offered more food!
Amazing hotel and spa weekend for a couple of friends. I cannot recommend shrigley enough!!
I was pleasantly surprised by how welcoming and hospitable the staff were under the current circumstances! Specially the manager on duty at the time! The food was lovely and the bar/restaurant staff were fantastic! I will definitely return! Thank you for making our anniversary so special.
Wonderful stay in pleasant surroundings. Staff in all areas were outstanding and made our visit most enjoyable. A 60th birthday treat for my husband and we enjoyed every minute. Thanks to you all for the attention you gave to us, it was a pleasure.
I AM A REGULAR VISITOR AND HAVE NEVER POSTED ANYTHING NEGATIVE BEFORE SANDWICHES STALE, END OF DAY FEEL CAKES AND SCONES SAME NOT GOOD AT ALL
Breakfast awful. Worst full English ever, lukewarm overcooked and soggy toast. Dinner good under circumstances.
Room was dated and small. Door in room 118 doesn’t open fully as it is blocked by the bed making it difficult to get in and out of the room with crutches. Staff could see i was on crutches yet i was given a room on first floor where i had to go down steps. Not very well thought through. Some staff are amazing, some staff not so good. Spa manager is fantastic and both ladies who undertook treatment on 21/12/20 were amazing. Lady giving Mr patel treatment on 22/12/20 not talkative or warm in conversation making the experience not so good. Waitress in restaurant with very short hair on 21/12/20 was super impressive but rest of staff not so much. Had a severely over price lunch (e.g.£8 for a sandwich) but no one bought over cutlery and had to chase down staff to order drinks. Fish fingers were overcooked and not enjoyable but feta and beetroot sandwich was tasty. Breakfast was nice and dinner tasted outstanding. Menu was limited so for lunch and dinner so on day 2 of our stay we went elsewhere. Would have been nice if the pricing was sensible and menu choices were better so we would have used you for lunch and dinner on day 2 too. Spa facilities are absolutely fantastic. Warmth of the pool and Jacuzzis is perfect. Range of facilities is great and outdoor pool is exceptional. Definitely the wow factor of the visit.
Enjoyable tasty lunch in enjoyable surroundings served by friendly staff.
The food was very disappointing, we had a very simple Turkey dinner and it was awful, we've eaten there numerous times, stayed there, played golf there, we like the place and will be going back, we just hope that the chef had a one off nightmare of a night. The rest of the staff were very good, friendly and professional and the setting and ambience were typically fantastic.
Overall our stay was very pleasant, the spa and massage treatments were excellent. The area is very well laid out and a lovely way to spend the afternoon The evening meal was very good as well. Our only criticism is the older rooms need some TLC and double rooms should have more than a 3/4 sized bed. That being said, I would return but perhaps spend the extra and upgrade the room
We had a lovely stay in room 211, loved it food and service was great all day and the next, just a shame we had to order more food in the bar after we had just had afternoon tea to get a glass of wine but all good. Definitely be back again. Merry Christmas to all Heidi and Damien x
Excellent spa very good. Unfortunately the dinner and breakfast service was very slow and waiters were not around to service you. Rooms are very old and seem as if they have not been updated in many years.
Comfortable clean bedroom - glad we paid for a newly refurbished room. Birthday card, cake and chocolates were a lovely touch. Tasty food but very expensive extras and we were overcharged on several occasions for food, drink and overnight package which we had to dispute. Very slow table service at dinner - busy but definitely could have been better which would have have helped customer flow through restaurant. Lack of communication between spa and hotel. Spa clean and nicely refurbished but expensive for what we paid. Would return if there was a deal on but would definitely be vigilant of charges
A bit of a mix up with invoice. We paid in full when booking, original booking was October, that we had to reschedule for 20th Dec, they couldn’t seem to find our prepayment and we had an invoice slipped under our door for £240. I had to try to look for emails and bank statements to confirm we had pre paid. Besides this, all was perfect. Regards Hayley Burns
We were extreme left disappointed with our stay especially considering the huge cost of our room. Firstly, we were not told that room service had been stopped, meaning that after calling for over 30 minutes we had to come downstairs to hear the news. At this point, the lady behind the front desk rudely told us about the lack of room service without an ounce of an apology. Secondly, we had dinner and breakfast included, both of which were tasteless and seemed as if they had been microwaved. We would have complained however every one on service seemed to be school pupils and so were not attentive in the slightest. This happened once again at breakfast where we saw the majority of servers take breaks at the same time, with almost every table left dirty even though the restaurant was less than half full. We paid for a suite, which was dated and certainly not value for money. The bed was extremely uncomfortable given the fact it seemed two single bed mattresses had just been put together as opposed to having a double. When we complained at check out we were given no sincere apology and were instead left to pay over £315 for a night that was not deserving of even £50. We will not stay here again and have made our friends and family aware of the issues. Unsurprisingly a number of them who had stayed previously shared our negative feedback based on previous stays. To pay such a large amount of money for so little is not on. We will be requesting a refund and hope that others will read these comments before they commit to spending a night here.
My husband an i had a lovely stayat Shringley Hall The food was excellent, The room was fantastic and all the staff treated us as you woul like to be treated when you go away. We enjoyed it that much we are looking to book again with family members once covid is under control. We would like to thank all the staff that made our stay great and wish you all a merry christmasxx
Amazing venue and lovely staff! Spa was to die for and treatments were lovely.
Unfortunately service at dinner and breakfast wasn’t great. Took 30 minutes to be served our drinks we had no check back during the meal. We were on a 3 course dinner yet no one came to offer desert we had to ask for the menus. Spa however was fantastic. Great massage and facilities were great.
I had a 3 course meal as part of a spa break. Had I paid solely for the meal I would have been disappointed with the value for money. The starters were lovely but mains were quite dry and small portions. Service was good and it was well run from a covid perspective.
Excellent overall venue. Spa was awesome
