Great afternoon out to celebrate a special
On being shown to our table, we were disappointed to find we were expected to sit around a low coffee table, we sat down and decided that we would not be comfortable eating there, when the waitress returned we asked could we sit at a proper table against the window, no problem and she reset the table for us,we then enjoyed our Afternoon tea.
As always a fabulous meal. However the choice of music in the restaurant is to be questioned
This was our first visit for a meal but we have been at a few functions st Shaw Hill previously. The rooms and overall appearance of the establishment is stunning. The food delicious and reasonably priced for such an elite venue.
Booked a spa indulgence day with afternoon tea . The afternoon tea was lovely and staff very tentative would return for afternoon tea. The spa treatments were good and staff lovely. The use of spa facilities was not relaxing as aqua aerobics class followed by water babies. Had I known this at the time of booking would not have booked the indulgent spa day as not very relaxing. Would return for afternoon tea and spa treatments but not use of the spa facilities.
Great food and service. Relaxed atmosphere.
Lovely afternoon tea as usual. The soup and sausage roll were so tasty although not so keen on the beetroot wrap
Superb service, food, venue and staff - highly recommend.
As usual we had a lovely dining experience. Food , service , ambience was perfect
More than lives up to their website description (which doesn't even mention for example the convenient car parking etc) so exceeded our expectations for our Sunday dinner.
Very enjoyable experience and great value.
Celebrated my sisters 50th with family. The afternoon tea was lovely. Would definitely return
We had a very enjoyable afternoon tea and as usual the staff went the extra mile in serving us.
We had a lovely Sunday lunch with friends. The food was excellently presented and top quality. All of the staff in the restaurant interacted with us and provided wonderful table and drinks service. Thank you for a brilliant afternoon.
Went to visit Vardon’s restaurant at Shaw Hill for Valentine’s Day. Only one menu to choose from which was the Valentine’s set menu which had no price on it. Food was below average. Paid for the meal using a gift voucher - Poor communication between staff. As we were using the gift voucher, the waiter (forgot to take his name - but he was tall and appeared to be the head waiter) said that the voucher needs to be checked by the receptionist. We waited for 10mins and asked the same waiter what was happening, which he advised that the ‘other’ waiter was looking into it. We waited another 15mins and still no news. My partner went up to the ‘other’ waiter who was meant to be dealing with it, which the waiter then said that it was all sorted. No one had the courtesy to let us know that it was all sorted - the ‘other’ waiter did say sorry . Quite poor seeing as the restaurant was not busy at all. Overall, disappointing experience and it was not cheap, £90 something point.
Excellent food and service
We were really looked after. Pity it was so empty as it was a great evening.
It was busy on the Sunday evening with 2 large groups booking in so we were late eating Started was very good Mains was not up to their usual standard
We ordered a bottle of Prosecco and on pouring it the server let one glass overflow and just laughed about it. At £30 a bottle I don’t expect some of it to end up on the tablecloth. The food was lovely, we really enjoyed it. The bar service afterwards was slow, we had to wait a while for anyone to appear.
Lovely afternoon tea. My only issue is that we wasn’t informed that it wouldn’t be the menu on the website. The egg mayo wraps were delicious though
Sunday Lunch was excellent. Generous portions without being over facing. We both had roast beef which was delicious. There was a good selection of veg which were not over cooked - just the right amount of crunch! The roasties could have been crisper but a minor point. We had two courses, main and dessert. Value for money is excellent in such attractive surroundings. Table linen and glassware were immaculate, a quality experience. Thank you.
Myself & My Partner regularly visit Shawhill Restaurant. It is by far the best dining experience we have ever had. The staff are excellent as always and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. The food is excellent value for money and delicious. The afternoon Tea is also amazing, the best we have ever had. I highly recommend Shawhill for a 5 Star dining experience. We shall be returning very soon.
we have been for afternoon tea twice recently and the young gentleman that has been working both times provides excellent customer service
As Always excellent food and friendly professional service
Excellent service. I dairy free and one child’s afternoon tea provided with no fuss along with the other straightforward ones . Lovely surroundings and lovely food
