About Shambles Restaurant & Wine Bar
Welcome, we’ve missed you all!
Shambles is a wine bar and kitchen run by a brother and sister with a serious passion for food and wine. We’ve created a cosy and relaxed place where people can discover great food and quaffable wine — in the style of the Italian enoteca and neighbourhood osteria we all know and love.
Our name is a nod to the history of the building, Shambles was an old slaughter house/butchers for 250 years. We follow the traditions of Italian cooking and occasionally break the rules - but only a little!
Cosy, friendly, lively with seasonal ingredients, that’s us in a nutshell. We look forward to welcoming you all soon.
Massimo & Margherita
Food was delicious (prawn/fregola starter; nodino; tiramisu); Service from Maria was very good. Enjoyed the live piano playing repertoire. There was a very nice atmosphere (admittedly last night before 2nd lockdown, so everyone making the most of the last bit of sociability for a month!)
Sat outside, food as lovely as ever. Tiramisu was amazing.
We had wonderful dinner last night and a great evening made possible by Massimo, Marge and the staff at shambles. Thank you
Lovely meal, perfect salad to start and then ‘smaller’ potion of pasta. Service top notch too! Sofie
Yet again a brilliant dinner at Shambles. Wild mushroom pasta was put of this world. So good. The team here are v friendly and always recognise and welcome us when we come back. Favourite restaurant in Teddington.
Shambles is a lovely place to eat. Lots of atmosphere and great service. Very varied menu and great wine list. It’s one of my favourite restaurants 🤗
It was freezing because one party decided that the heater was too noisy so everyone had to sit in their coats and freeze rather than enjoy their last night out pre lockdown. Blankets were offered but not sure sharing blankets is sensible at the moment. Such a shame because the staff are lovely.
Fabulous food, service & atmosphere. Highly recommended
A late booking before Lockdown 2. Near the door so a tad draughty but in the circumstances very welcome. Service excellent, meal very enjoyable and I enjoyed the wine. Our “go to” local restaurant, but if you’re not local you wouldn’t like it, no honest, trust me, you wouldn’t like it. Besides, it is so popular you won’t get a booking. Our evening- excellent!
Thought the covered heated outdoor area was great it allowed 6 of us to enjoy Sunday lunch. Fixed price menu was well priced and standard of food and portion size was very good. Slightly disappointed with dessert selection but that was a personal preference. Friendly service, slightly slow between courses but not a problem as we were not in a hurry. Would definitely recommend.
Excellent service and delicious food and wine. A great place to eat - even outside in the winter!!
The team is great - very friendly and helpful. But I found my food was too heavy. I like Italian food to be light, tasty, but unfussy. The dishes I had were too creamy for me. I will visit again though. It would be unfair to judge a restaurant on just two dishes on one occasion.
Fab night out - piano added to atmosphere
New to the area and wasn’t going to let being a solo diner stop me trying out this restaurant - such welcoming staff with the right amount of attention. The food was delicious and the fillet steak cooked medium rare to perfection. So glad to make it there before lockdown 2, a delightful dinner with a little payday-Pinot noir. Fabulous amaretti with the Affogato. Can’t wait to be able to come back!
Another excellent meal. Loved the atmosphere with the pianist.
The loveliest lunch and far too much wine but the food and ambiance are great. It was a little chilly in the marquee (Covid’s fault, not Shambles’) as I was eating with a friend but the restaurant is so warm and the staff are lovely.
Wonderful food & lovely, safe & lovely atmosphere.
Excellent, beautifully cooked and presented meals for the 2 of us. All Staff were very friendly, polite and efficient. The table next to the doorway between the outer and inner restaurant was a little uncomfortable because it is the main thoroughfare. Otherwise, we had a very nice evening. Grateful to have this restaurant in our community.
Great food - sea bream particularly special - and such good service and general care to ensure a very enjoy experience
Very cosy, even in the gazebo area. Thanks for working so hard to give us all a special experience in these grim times.
Such a great and welcoming atmosphere Food was delicious and service first class
Always great service and such a wonderful place to escape to
Cosy, rustic and warm. Soothing for the soul on an autumn day!
Very good Italian food but a rather subdued atmosphere. Perhaps not surprising given the circumstances. Only disappointment was the tiramisu which was way short of Amaretto
