Fresh ingredients cooked over hot coals or served scorching from a stone oven, We believe flavours are best when bold, interesting and healthy.
We enjoyed our meal but the music from the bar area was so loud that we found it difficult to have a conversation in the dining area. Pace of service was fine but servers need a little more training. Food was good and we liked the reference to local produce. There was a nice variety of dishes on the menu.
A wonderful meal outside on the balcony looking over the water. The food, attentive service and atmosphere were all great. We will be back!
As at previous visits we really enjoyed the food and the ambience. When we were being served staff were very engaging and pleasant. This time the pace of service was rather slow resulting in some of our group having to leave before we got to dessert.
We dined with you on Saturday 6th when you experienced a power cut and whilst it was obvious that’s what happened as the music went off along with the lights, no one came to speak to us to tell us what was happening or even ask if we’d like more candles. We ended up using our phones to light the table so we could see the food. As the kitchen had been impacted for a little while, staff could not offer us dessert so we had to get the bill and go elsewhere to finish our dining experience. Whilst the power cut was one’s fault, we felt someone should have kept us informed and may be even offer us a complimentary drink or small discount on the bill. Whilst we asked for this, it was not forthcoming. Disappointing customer service which overshadowed the lovely food we had eaten (even if we could only see it courtesy of iPhone light)!
When I booked for a pre theatre meal, I was told we could only have the table for 90 minutes. That seemed fine. We arrived 15 mins early to find the inside area empty and around 6 tables on the balcony... so not exactly busy! We were shown to a table and given menus to browse... and then completely ignored for 35 minutes. Staff repeatedly walked past , looked and walked off. We weren't even asked for a drinks order. I cannot emphasise enough how quiet the restaurant was. Given we were told we would have to leave in another 55 minutes we found this a shocking and unacceptable lack of service. We decided to leave at this point, and found much better welcome round the corner. As a result I would give 1 star for service, atmosphere and likelihood to recommend. This was only because 0 stars is not an option! I would give the same minimal score for food or drink as I dont usually consider 'hope and fresh air' to constitute a meal or beverage. As for value for money, the automatic addition of a 12.5% service charge was beyond a joke, and an insult that we were not prepared to consider.
Sorry, maybe you were understaffed , although you were not that busy but we felt service was slow, food overpriced for what it was and so will not be coming back. Lad that served us was very pleasant and obviously rushed off his feet, but when we ordered a fillet steak, which we thought would at least come with fries were surprised when it turned up all on its own apart from sauce. Would have at least expected to be asked if we wanted anything with it. Got fries eventually. Also steak not the best. Not bad enough to send back but very chewy.
Lovely service and a diverse selection of food. Nice touch to make cocktails on demand too. I will visit again when I am next in Bristol.
This is the first time I have visited the severnshed. Although I liked the location and menu we were completely let down by it clearly being very short staffed on a busy evening. Although we booked, our table wasn’t ready and it took nearly an hour after arrival before we got a drink. Then each course was at least an hour or more wait so for a 7:30pm booking we ran out of time to even have a pudding and that was leaving the restaurant at about 10:45pm. A total let down on what should have been a special meal with friends.
I've been enjoying the Severnshed's food and drink for over a decade. I returned recently for the first time in ages; the food was as excellent as ever and I was impressed by the eclectic range of the wine list. However, I was reminded why I stopped going for a while; when the restaurant is full it's really difficult to hear your fellow diners speak because of the background noise. I'm sure it's more of a problem for me - old with poor hearing - than many others but it will probably restrict my visits to quieter times, like early evening.
Limited menu, especially for vegetarians. I had the burger by default as I didnt fancy fish, lamb chops or pork belly, but it was simply a burger in a bun, no chips. My friend combined a starter with a side as she didn't fancy anything either. The food was well cooked and tasty, but I will check the menu options before I go next time.
Great service, loved the food, good atmosphere and happy with pricing (£18 for 3 course lunch) - would recommend and visit again.
It was a great place and I'm sure when it is full it would have more of an atmosphere. Unfortunately a large place like this suffers when only a few tables are booked.
Fantastic, attentive service. Great cocktail (Fresher)
Great food and service.
The staff were really nice and were able to accommodate our wish to hold a drinks reception before our meal (we were a large group booking). Food, drinks and service were all good and everyone had a great time - thank you very much!
Overall it was a nice evening and the service was really good. There were 13 of us, so our waitress did well to look after us. However a number of the group had the sirloin steak and the quality was really poor. The meat was tough and a poor quality cut. This was fed back at the time and the waitress did apologise.
I love the new look and menu. So much more classy it’s back to the Severn Shed of old that was always my favourite restaurant.
Myself and my work colleagues took some of our clients out for lunch. The food was great and service was superb. Perfect atmosphere, and we'll definitely be back!
2nd time I've been in a month. Excellent both times. Great to see it doing well.
A great find while on a business trip to the city. A lovely warm welcome and fab steak! Varied menu, good service and well presented restaurant with a good vibe.
Staff were great and the Sunday lunch is always amazing. Such a lovely setting too, right by the water.
Exceptional service and good quality food, found the sides expensive but overall a great dining experience.
Very good food, service was great
My starter was disgusting. Cold asparagus drowned in an unappealing muddy brown sauce. The flatbreads were tough, thick and almost inedible. The cod was good and the roast beef was ok. Cauliflower cheese and spring greens were delicious. Slow service and overpriced.
Absolutely lovely staff who helped us enjoy our anniversary and it was great that we could take our dog. Can’t wait to return, it made me want to live in Bristol again
