About Sea Spice
Sea Spice is a unique amalgamation of exotic Indian cooking within the quintessentially British coastal setting of Aldeburgh. Taking lead from the ancient Spice Route and Aldeburgh's historic role as a valued Tudor port, this new gourmet restaurant unites local Suffolk produce with classic Indian flavours originating some 4,000 miles away. Honouring the breadth and complexities of Indian cooking, Sea Spice offers guests an array of regional dishes from Goan inspired seafood dishes, to tandoor-grilled meats and traditional fragrant curries.
The food was outstanding and we will definitely be coming back but we were disappointed as even though I had booked a table and there were lots of available tables in the restaurant, we were told we had to sit in the hotel restaurant. The atmosphere was not very nice especially as it was only 8 o clock and the tables around us were being set for breakfast. It felt as if we were in the way.
Food was excellent and the service was attentive
The owner of our Bed And Breakfast recommended this restaurant to us. We really did have a most delicious meal and would also highly recommend.
Kids Chick Tikka Masala was a a bit too spicy for our young ones - they loved it, but struggled a little with the heat.
Lovely food - I had the lamb biryani and it was delicious! Social distancing handled very well. Excellent value for money. Limited drink choices and it wasn't a good idea to provide copper tankards for beer - glass is far preferable.
Excellent food, scallops and lamb samosa for starters and lamb chops and fish curry for mains. Really tasty and quantity just right. I presume that as we were booked in on Thurs, we couldn't get a seat in the restaurant part, but were eventually lucky to get a window seat in the white lion bar area. We'd go back again for the food. Thanks.
Very enjoyable evening! Food was good & service excellent! Nice atmosphere- especially under current circumstances!
Lovely fresh food. Service was friendly but poor. We had to send back glasses with lip stick stains on them and we had to ask for cutlery after the food arrived. A take away would be better.
Fantastic food as always, a stay in Aldeburgh wouldn't be the same without a visit to Sea spice. Just a shame they don't deliver the 70 miles to where I live!
What a treat to eat out again and have such a delicious dinner Distancing screens unobtrusive and all staff considerate Great job!
To start with a general point; we were impressed with the way in which your hotel has adapted to the necessities of reducing the risk of infection among staff and guest. Standards of service have been maintained. One specific point: the coffee served in a cup at the bar is far stronger than that in a cafetière at breakfast: too strong for my wife. She mentioned this when she ordered a second cup and the member of staff suggested putting a jug of hot water and a jug of cold milk on the tray with the coffee. Great! But when the coffee came it was as strong as ever and full nearly to the brim. You see the problem: how to add milk and hot water without it overflowing into the saucer and onto the table. Anyway, we look forward to our next visit. We had a very relaxing break and hope to need another, say in September?
Enjoyable meal great flavours food was well cooked came piping hot and plenty of it
Delicious Indian cuisine beautifully presented.
This was a simply stunning Indian meal. It was up with the best and compared well to my other favourite (Babur in London). I would not hesitate to recommend.
What a fabulous meal we all enjoyed. Real authentic Indian food with great flavours. The Suffolk muntjac vindaloo was delicious and a new experience for me and one I shan’t forget in a hurry. Even though the main Sea Spice restaurant was closed during these difficult times, the great staff made up for any disappointment there may have been. 10 out of 10 will definitely revisit.
Enjoyed our evening - a real treat after lockdown! All well organised and social distancing worked well. The staff were friendly and efficient, and the food was excellent: a very hot lamb rogan josh, and a tender venison vindaloo. We wil be back.
We were very disappointed with the service, we waited 40 minutes to be offered a drink, they got the order wrong (delivered chicken when I ordered cheese) and didn’t seem to know what they were doing. The waitresses all got orders wrong from all the tables around us... disappointed with it all. And they charged full price despite all the problems. I hope they improve with time..
I didnt sit in the restaurant due to covid was put in hotel but the food was the best indian foidvive ever had in my life and its true amazing lamb Brogan Josh and prawn achowari
Delicious food. Slightly chaotic service but understandable during these strange times.
Absolutely delicious food!
Food was good albeit everything seemed heavy on tomato. Wine list interesting. Service good, especially in the difficult circumstances
Loved the muntjac curry!
Lacking a bit in atmosphere and the service was mixed. Slow with drinks order and after our 1st waitress provided an incorrect order she avoided our table for the rest of the evening. He colleagues were better though. Good food overall.
Really sorry to have to say this but your service let you down..... our first waitress gave the impression we were not welcome and asking for the wine menu seemed the wrong thing to do. Eventually I believe a more senior member of the team took over our service and she was lovely but the damage had already been done. It was a nice meal but expensive for what was a simple curry with poor service.
Our food was fabulous and our visitors absolutely loved it. My only gripe was that I am a vegetarian and ordered a Paneer Tikka masala. When my food was served to me, it was actually chicken tikka masala. Luckily I didn’t bite into it as I noticed first! They were apologetic but I do think the restaurant would have at least deducted a drink from our bill as I ate my replacement meal when the other 3 members of my party had almost finished!!!
