About Scene Indian Street Kitchen
An Indian Street Kitchen in the heart of Spinningfields Manchester, serving authentic indian street food as well as traditional dishes.
Amazing food and fantastic service for the entire family.
They forgot to put our order in so our mains took a long time. The chef who was working at the front of the kitchen so the restaurant could see him kept eating whilst he was cooking and putting his fingers in his ears and mouth which was very unhygienic and unpleasant to watch.
Had a wonderful time with my friends there at Scene. Definitely a nice and lovely place to visit and enjoy some delicious indian cusine.
As good as ever
Great food, nice setting
a very enjoyable experience brilliant serve food and atmosphere. Will definitely be back .
Food was superb and excellent value for money. Although waiting staff were friendly, service was lousy. We waited to be seated despite reserving and restaurant not busy when we arrived, drinks took a very Long time to arrive and we had to ask at least 3 times, and the papodams we wanted while waiting for the main food arrived after the main course
I have had an awful experience at this restaurant. I waited at the bar for over 15 mins and I never got a drink, the bar man didn’t even acknowledge that I was there, I was then seated in the main restaurant and waited over 20 mins for food. The atmosphere of this restaurant was awful and the waiters lacked direction. The food is standard for the price that you pay.
Was booked for a special occasion we were very dissapointed . Complete lack of service , forgot our drinks order , when it came on all occasions drinks were missing waited 30 minutes from ordering drinks. Waited an hour from starter to mains , no cutlery , rude drinks waitress when we chased drinks up.
Went here with my husband and parents on a Saturday afternoon, and nearly cancelled after reading reviews on trip advisor. We were glad we didn’t cancel, the service was excellent and all the staff were really nice. Most of the food was excellent too, the only down side was the lamb chops, which are usually my husbands favourite, he found them to be tough, but that didn’t ruin it because everything else was fantastic. We’ve already recommended some of our friends to eat here.
Extremely slow service. Booked a table for 7.45. Wasn't seated up 8.00pm. It took the waiter Approx 20 minutes to take our order in which he said he will take the food order and come back for drinks. Needless to say, he didn't come back for our drinks order and we still hadn't ordered them by which time we had finished our starters. We were asked if we wanted a break before having our mains or wanted them to be served..We asked to have them straight away to which they arrived 45 minutes later. With another 30 minute wait when asking for the bill. The waiter kept glancing over and then turning away before we could call him over. Overall a meal for 2 took over 2 and half hours.
Very enjoyable evening, thank you
Was looked after by the excellent Shahid Bhai. Always smiling and was always on hand to look after our party. Many thanks for a wonderful evening.
We had to flag down a waiter to get service. 20 minutes of waiting and no drink and no orders taken. When our drinks came the waiter stood in front of me with a bottle and a tray with 4 drinks. He just stood in front of me despite there being space on the table to put the drinks down. So I took 2 drinks of his tray and placed them on the table, again because he just stood there in front of me for what felt like forever just looking. He loudly essentially shouting, said DONT DO THAT! I’ll loose balance. Then why were you standing in front of me for 2 minutes with the tray??? Our starters empty dishes sat at our table for an unexceptable long time. Again we had to flag down a waiter to have the dishes taken and find out about our mains. It was the waiter who gave us our drinks. Again this waiter was extremely rude. When I said that I am not happy about the service citing the facts mentioned already he very rudely said tell the manager. No manager ever came to the table. Description of the waiter: slender and fair height, non UK National I think maybe meditaranian based on the accent. For that reason I will not be returning nor will my company who attended with me and I have given this review on my blog and many others. Awful service for food that was basic.
The manager on Friday evening was extremely attentive to my boyfriend and I, he went above and beyond to deliver great service. Despite this, some of the other memebers of staff really let the team down. When we arrived at the restaurant we stood at the desk waiting to be shown to our table. A young man came in from outside and without acknowledging our presence he stood behind the desk and was working on the computer. While I understand he may have been busy with another customer it would have been polite for him to at least say hello. This is the second time I have found the service to be lacking at Scene and ultimately it’s a good job the food is worth coming back for!
Took ages to order drinks. Food arrived before drinks. Food ok but pudding (cake with custard looked raw so left) Very dear compared to other similar places (£25 a person!)
The manager was really rude as she rang me before regarding my booking on the day, however I was busy with my guests who had come from London so missed the call and when I tried ringing back it was engaged. When I arrived at scene she greeted me with ‘oh I called you three times and you never picked up’ she then re asked me how many seats I booked when clearly I stated 20 when I made my booking, this meant us waiting for another 10 minutes while she sorted the table out. We also noticed one of the waiters who was particularly rude to one of the waitresses to the point she was crying. This is totally unacceptable behaviour. The food however was great overall and the waiter we had was great but the awful start at the beginning ruined the atmosphere.
Nice place with a good atmosphere, and the food we had was delicious.
It was my mums birthday, I took for a meal, we were told to sit outside, I asked for a different table , no-one came to us and avoided our table. Asked the second time and was told rudely that there were no tables but actually 2 tables remained empty inside for the duration of our time there. The waiter who took our order was rude, didn’t smile nor was he polite. He was also rude to a co-worker which all the customers witnessed. People who arrived after us and ordered received their food. We had to ask when our food was coming 2 times. It was a horrible experience and I felt for my mum as she didn’t even have a good birthday meal. Will never visit this place again.
The best Indian food in Manchester but the quantity and price doesn’t go hand to hand but no compromise in taste
Very nice food. Really enjoyed it. Only downfall was we weren't given any serving spoons and no waiters were around for us to ask so we used our forks which was difficult
Service, whilst friendly, is chaotic at best. No one single waiter/waitress, each able to do limited different things and having to ask each other when we had a query as it’s someone else’s role (can we order food/get the bill/where is our food/can we order another drink) Could’ve been in and out in an hour, instead was 2.5 Food was amazing but next time I’ll just get deliveroo to bring it.
Great food as always! Vegetarian options are a must!
Food was very tasty but very expensive for what you get. Portions are small but was one of the tastier curries i have had. I have ate Indian food in many a place cheaper than this with a similar quality but because they aren't in the middle of the city centre then they are twice as cheap. Service is also very slow which sometimes can be a good thing when you are in a group as you can have a good chat but when they take an hour to ask if you would like another drink, the slower service then becomes a frustration. Overall it was a good night and a good meal but i was expecting more. 3*/5*
Excellent - the food, the service, the staff, the atmosphere. Had a lovely evening here and would definitely recommend.
